Google flushes Internet down the toilet

THIS has to be one of the funniest, not to mention geekiest, April Fool’s prank ever, heh :)

Simply can’t bear to be disconnected from the Internet, even when you’re on a bathroom break? (Well, Justin Kan can’t — and the Justin.TV  service he and his friends launched is for real. At least no one has claimed it’s just a joke yet, heh.)  Well, Google has the solution for you: the Google Toilet Internet Service Provider or TiSP.

It’s high-speed wireless Internet access via your toilet. No word though on whether all the content you’ll receive is, er, crappy.

Here’s an excerpt from the CNET News.com story:

Google said its “Toilet Internet Service Provider” (TiSP) would be available in three speeds: Trickle, The No. 2, and Royal Flush. Google’s prank included an online installation guide, an FAQ and a press release quoting Google co-founder and President Larry Page.

“There’s actually a thriving little underground community that’s been studying this exact solution for a long time,” Page said in the facetious statement. “And today our Toilet ISP team is pleased to be leading the way through the sewers, up out of your toilet and–splat–right onto your PC.”

Check out the Google gag page for more on TiSP.

Hmm, Aileen, think many Filipinos would subscribe to this service if it were for real? After all, we’re already used to crappy service from our ISPs, heh :)
