Apple + YouTube = Future of TV?

- Apple, TV, YouTube -

TWO of the icons of cool are joining forces, as Apple announces it will bring YouTube to the boob tube via Apple TV.

Is this a glimpse of the future of TV? Where user-generated content will be as widely available on your TV set as they are online.

Here’s an excerpt from the Reuters story:

What’s next for INQUIRER.net?

- Internet -

AS expected, our site traffic shot up dramatically during the elections, but what’s remarkable is that even as the entire team worked hard and multi tasked to bring the news to our readers, our servers hardly broke a sweat.

This, even as our site was visited by at least 1.3 million people and generated 9.7 million page views in the week of May 14, as editor in chief JV Rufino recounted in this article.

Using their BlackBerries, the reporters here are filing breaking news stories, while the editors on this boat are working on these articles.

And yup, I’m blogging this using my N90 mobile phone via Smart 3G.

And we’re still on the boat, heh.

Long live the mobile office!

Why is Friendster still huge in RP?

- Friendster, Internet, Social Networking -

WHY is Friendster so popular in the Philippines?

Once upon a time, Friendster was the social networking site. It was huge in the US and other countries, but since then it has seen a pretender to the throne, MySpace, become the new king of social networking.

In the Philippines, however, Friendster is still hands-down the most popular social networking site, notwithstanding the presence of homegrown alternatives such as GrooveNet. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Filipinos are practically single-handedly keeping Friendster alive. Heck, according to Alexa, Friendster is the second most popular site for Philippine Internet users, next only to Yahoo!
