STILL unsure how you’ll vote this Monday? We’ve added new tools to our Eleksyon 2007 site, including the Voter’s Guide and Sample Ballot sections, to help you make an informed choice.

The Voter’s Guide helps users rate candidates using a scorecard for pre-defined “roles” (strategist, servant leader, etc.) and leadership qualities (honesty, competence, etc.).

Filipino computer forensic analyst makes RP proud

ANOTHER Filipino has put our country on the map, this time by winning an international cybersecurity award.

Here’s an excerpt from INQUIRER.net reporter Erwin Oliva’s story on Alex Ramos’ achievement:

“(I am) happy that somehow some people still notice that we are good at something. I never even thought I would be chosen. I never even knew I was nominated,” Ramos said in an e-mail message to INQUIRER.net in reaction to getting the award.

Ganging up on YouTube

IT was only a matter of time, really. As expected, NBC has also joined the bandwagon of companies who are suing YouTube.

Here’s an excerpt from the Agence France-Presse story:

Digital divide in America

- Digital Divide -

AS tech evangelists, we might assume that, given the opportunity, everyone would want to embrace the changes brought about by the digital revolution.

But the reality check is that apart from the digital divide brought about by the fact that many poor people can’t afford technology, we also have to contend with the mindset of those who are unwilling or afraid to have anything to do with technology.

Consider the results of the Pew Internet & American Life Project report “A Typology of Information and Communication Technology Users.” You can check out the PDF of the report here and of the questionnaire they used here.

Digg this: User revolt vs Web 2.0 site

FOR all the hype and praise lavished over user-generated content, Web 2.0 has a dark side as well. Without any form of control, what’s to prevent e-democracy from degenerating into the online version of mob rule?

That’s what the popular Web 2.0 site Digg is now struggling to come to terms with in the face of a user revolt.
