iVDO: Why eEye is eyeing Asia

HERE’S a video I took of Gun Suk Ling, VP of Asia Pacific of eEye Digital Security, as she talks about the company’s plans for the region.

It was great to meet Suk Ling, who’s scheduled to visit the Philippines soon. She was one of the speakers at the Kickstart Asia 2007 information technology forum held on July 26 to 27 at the Nirwana Gardens resort in Bintan, Indonesia.

BINTAN, Indonesia–Here’s a video I took of Mark Trudinger, CEO of Kindernet Pte Ltd, talking about the dangers posed to children by the pervasiveness of social networks and other Web 2.0 applications.

Web 2.0 and ease of content creation

BINTAN, Indonesia–”LIVECASTING is to TV what blogging was to journalism.”

This was declared by Steve Ng, founder of The Digital Movement, in his presentation for the Web 2.0 session of Kickstart Asia 2007.

Ng pointed out that livecasting is revolutionizing broadcasting by allowing ordinary people to become their own TV networks. In particular, Ng cited Ustream.tv.

Kickstarting Asia in Bintan

rp-journos.JPGBINTAN, Indonesia–We just arrived here at the Nirwana Gardens resort for the Kickstart Asia 2007 information technology forum on July 26 to 27.

I’m covering the event together with INQUIRER.net/hackenslash reporter Alex Villafania, David Dizon of ABS-CBN Interactive, Jenalyn Rubio of ComputerWorld Philippines, Billy Allardo of PC World Philippines, Michael David Tan of Enterprise, and John Nieves of Gadgets. Photo shows us at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport yesterday. From left to right, that’s Jenalyn, me, John, David and Billy. Alex took the pic.

We’re looking forward to the different sessions, with topics ranging from Web 2.0; the Internet; CIO issues; fixed and wireless communications; and enterprise/network security.

On Friday night, we’ll also attend the MediaConnect Asia Technology Journalist Awards sponsored by Vignette. INQUIRER.net is a finalist in four categories.
