Stella Kim, president and CEO of South Korean firm O2 Media, which developed the popular O2Jam online music game published in the Philippines by IP e-Games, is pretty lucky indeed, heh
She’s made history as the subject of this first embedded video, which I took while hackenslash reporter Alex Villafania interviewed her. To find out more about Kim’s visit, check out the hackenslash story.
It’s another milestone in our goal to help establish multimedia journalism in the Philippines. It hasn’t been that easy to gather all the pieces and integrate them, but we’ve come a long way in just a few months, including building a blog network and forging a partnership with Yahoo! for our iVDO online video service.
It’s not enough, however, to deploy the technology. We’ve also had to quickly learn new stuff and write the rules along the way, because becoming a true multimedia publication means having to get rid of old habits and outdated mindsets.
Our reporters have learned not just to break the news, but also to take photos and videos with their mobile phones. We’ve learned to blog — encouraging journalists to blog and inviting pure bloggers like Toni Platon-Tiu to write for us. We’ve seen closer coordination among the different members of the Inquirer Group of Publications, as we each strive to make convergence a reality and find ways to complement each other’s content.
It’s not easy, but it’s also fun, because each day finds us playing with new toys and trying to find different ways to tell stories, and different ways to connect to you, our readers.
Speaking of finding interesting ways to tell a story, check out our Tales of the Nomad travel blog and go on a virtual tour of Guimaras (QuickTime required) courtesy of INQUIRER.net contributor Fung Yu.
It’s been an exciting journey, and we thank you for joining us every step of the way.
