INQUIRER.net VDO… now with channels!

- INQUIRER.net -

YUP, as part of our continuing efforts to improve our video service, today we launched the Channels of our INQUIRER.net VDO multimedia hub. These categories are for the most part based on the Channels under the INQUIRER.net network, and our goal is to make it easier for you to find the kind of videos you like while also highlighting our different video content.

You see, INQUIRER.net is more than just news; we want to make sure we address the needs of our different audiences. Our journey will see the transformation of INQUIRER.net from an online newspaper to a full-blown multimedia site. I can’t tell you the stuff that’s going on in the background, but yes, we’ve got more new stuff coming your way — and even new people :)

Are you a sports aficionado? Then check out VDO’s Sports channel, which has as its latest video Pacquiao sparring in San Francisco. Check out our DJ Spinbad in Manila video in Showbiz & Style, a mosquito repellent made from a rare Palawan plant in our Technology channel, Fil-Am video blogger Christine “HappySlip” Gambito’s visit to Intramuros in Global Nation, and the business mentoring session INQUIRER.net held in the Business channel. And hey, we even have a Lighter Side channel for all those lighthearted, offbeat, “YouTube moments,” like this video of a bird attacking a cat.

Check out INQUIRER.net VDO today :)

Of EDSA, NBN and guerrilla TV

- INQUIRER.net, Videos -

IT’S been another tiring yet satisfying day, editing and uploading videos sent by our reporters from different parts of the metropolis as they covered the 22nd anniversary of the 1986 People Power revolution, and the pro- and anti-administration rallies that were held today in the wake of the national broadband network scandal.

I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish with INQUIRER.net VDO, in making online video a staple offering of INQUIRER.net, despite all the obstacles, despite the fact that we don’t have a broadcast background and are coming up with original video content rather than shoveling online the same stuff that’s already on TV. From the start, we knew that we couldn’t, and in fact shouldn’t, compete with TV. The traditional broadcast networks are giants who have a lot more money than we do. But to again use my favorite analogy, I liken the broadcast networks to the US when it was trying to fight a conventional war in Vietnam, while we’re like the Vietcong fighting a guerrilla war. The networks may have the money and the might, but we know the terrain — and we’re a lot more mobile. We know what works online, and I firmly believe that we have the advantage over traditional broadcasters when it comes to online video.

Anyway, here are the clips we uploaded today for our video coverage of the People Power anniversary. Check them out, and keep visiting INQUIRER.net VDO. You might also be interested in taking part in an online forum on the NBN deal — check out this article for more info.

Crying Babies: Lozada, De Venecia on YouTube?

- Videos, YouTube -

UPDATE: Blog post edited to remove embedded video clips now that Joey De Venecia “has confirmed that the voice on the supposed wiretapped conversation, uploaded to online video sharing service YouTube, was indeed his.”

IS the video “Crying Babies” uploaded to YouTube by tusongbaboy really from a wiretapped conversation between Rodolfo Noel “Jun” Lozada Jr. and Jose “Joey” De Venecia III?

At any rate, the video has been getting a lot of views on YouTube. Check out Erwin Oliva’s article for more info.

Here’s the original clip uploaded by tusongbaboy.

And here’s a “remixed” version from pilipinasVSgloria.
