POOR Miss South Carolina.

It’s bad enough to give a confused answer on national television to the question posed to her during the Miss Teen USA 2007 beauty pageant. Now she’s all the rage on YouTube.

In fact, this particular clip — just one of many showing her infamous answer or posted in response to videos of her — has been viewed over five million times just three days after it was posted.

Miss South Carolina Teen USA Lauren Caitlin Upton was asked to share her opinion on why apparently a fifth of Americans can’t locate the US on a world map. Good luck figuring out what her answer means heh

To be fair, though, I saw her on NBC’s “Today” show where she was given the chance to explain what happened. She said she was so nervous that she only heard a few of the words in the actual question and her mind went blank when she started answering.

I mean, we all screw up at one time or another — most of us, however, are fortunate enough not to do it on national television and have it documented for the whole world to see on YouTube. Still, it’s a funny clip, and Miss South Carolina said she can laugh about it as well now.

Funny thing, she actually overcame that gaffe to become one of the five finalists and eventually became third runner-up. Miss Colorado Hilary Carol Cruz was crowned Miss Teen USA 2007. Too bad Caitlin can’t go back in time and give the new answer she came up with during the “Today” segment.
