These girls are Tekken

WHEW, talk about sizzling hot. This Maxim shoot brings the female characters of the PlayStation Portable video game Tekken: Dark Resurrection to life. Warning: this video is not safe for work. Tekken has never been as blatant in promoting its sexy babes as that other popular fighting game, DOA (Dead or Alive), has been, but I guess that's changed. By Marinel Cruz Inquirer wendy-1.jpgMANILA, Philippines--"My fans support me. With them, I’m sure it’s not true that the whole country hates me,” Wendy Valdez, controversial “Pinoy Big Brother Season 2” housemate, tells Living Stars. In fact, Wendy says, her fans shower her with gifts -- clothes, perfumes, cosmetics, accessories and books. They also send food to the set of her ABS-CBN soap, “Margarita.” Wendy incurred the ire of PBB viewers after quarreling with two female housemates, Ge-Ann Abraham and Bea Saw. During the PBB “Big Night” at the Araneta Coliseum, Wendy had to beg the crowd to stop booing her. Since she joined show biz, Wendy says she’s had to beef up her wardrobe. “Also, I used to just go for blacks, whites and browns; now I have other colors, too.” ACCESSORIES I prefer to wear only earrings, but now I have lots of accessories ... for work. Fans who knew from the TV show that I love earrings sent a couple over. One pair that is memorable to me is the one I wore when I returned to the House (shows a pair of silver chandelier earrings). I’d rather wear big earrings than necklaces. Big earrings divert people’s attention from my big ears (laughs). Big belts make the waist look slim, especially when you put the buckle on the side. If I had my way I wouldn’t buy belts in colors other than white, black or brown because I will not be able to reuse them on TV. SCENTS My newest bottle of Clinique Happy Heart is a gift from a group of fans. The citrus scent goes well with my body chemistry. I alternately use this with my other favorites, Dolce and Gabanna’s Light Blue and DKNY’s Be Delicious. SHOES I always end up buying black or white shoes whenever I shop. But I think I should start buying shoes in other colors, too, like light blue, red or green. When wearing high-heeled shoes, you should put your weight on your toes, not on your heels. This helps you avoid straining your legs. When you get used to it, you can even walk on pebbled steps. BAGS I got most of my bags in Bangkok. They’re so cheap. I used to like small bags, but now that I’m working, I get to use only the big ones. I like putting all the things I need in one bag. DRESSES This black-and-gold dress is memorable because I wore it when Bruce (Quebral, PBB housemate and Wendy’s boyfriend) got evicted. I didn’t like the red tube dress that Mommy bought for me but it got a lot of compliments. wendy-2.jpg My ABS-CBN bosses instructed me to buy dresses for TV appearances. I noticed that the outfits I picked were mostly halters and really low V-necks. I also have a couple of pieces that fans gave me. SKIRTS I hardly wear skirts. But I’m thinking of the perfect occasion to wear a couple of knitted ones from a fan. JEANS I love jeans. They are easy to wear and can be matched with just about any blouse or dress. I used to have trouble looking for nice boot-cut jeans because most of them are too short for me. I’m glad that skinny jeans are in fashion now. Miss RP Int'l in best form

By Armin Adina Inquirer nadia.jpgMANILA, Philippines--Filipino-Jordanian Nadia Lee Cien Shami -- model, radio jock, dancer and photographer -- is out to add another entry to her long list of occupations. The 19-year-old native of Cotabato left for Tokyo, Japan, on Sept. 30 to compete for the Miss International title, which has been held by Philippine beauties Precious Lara Quigaman (2005), Melanie Marquez (1979), Aurora Pijuan (1970) and Gemma Cruz (1964). “I have butterflies in my stomach now,” Nadia revealed during her sendoff at the Araneta Coliseum Gazebo last Thursday, where she displayed her winning form. “I’ve seen the pictures of the other contestants. They are all so beautiful and everyone has a big chance to win. That is why I am asking for your prayers and support.” After her coronation as Binibining Pilipinas-International in March, the 5-foot-9 beauty lost almost 10 pounds, thanks to her strict diet and regular gym visits and Pilates sessions. “I hope to become the fifth Filipina to bring home the title,” said Nadia, who was crowned Miss Philippines-Air in 2005. Nadia, who has joined a host of national and regional beauty tilts, confessed to being most serious in her training for Miss International. As part of her grooming, she was made to take lessons in catwalk, poise, projection and even makeup application from Miss World 2005 Continental Queen of Beauty Karla Bautista, Miss Universe 2005 photogenic winner Gionna Cabrera and former titleholders Karen Agustin, Anna Maris Igpit and Denille Lou Valmonte. She was also given an overview of the international competition and pointers on how to catch the attention of the judges, the audience and her fellow contestants. But not everything went as planned. For almost a year, the international organizers harped about a month-long competition to be held both in Japan and China, only to announce way into the homestretch that Miss International delegates will only spend two weeks in Tokyo and the coronation night will be held in Japan on Oct. 15 and not in China on Oct. 30 as earlier announced. The confusion notwithstanding, Nadia expressed excitement on her first trip abroad. “I will tell my fellow contestants and the Japanese people that the Philippines is a beautiful country, blessed with magnificent beaches, tropical fruits and warm people.” And despite all the negative publicity the country has been getting in international media, “it is a wonderful country to visit,” she added. Nadia brings with her to Tokyo encouragement from her fellow Binibining Pilipinas beauties. Anna Theresa Licaros, Miss Universe 2007 Miss Photogenic, said, “Believe in yourself and have fun.” Miss World 2007 delegate Margaret Wilson added, “I’m proud of you. I know you can do it!” Miss International’s theme for this year is building a harmonious world, with focus on environmental awareness. Photo courtesy of the Philippine Daily Inquirer
