THE MISS Philippines-Earth 2007 finalists wield broomsticks as they join the EcoWaste Coalition in a campaign outside the burnt Commission on Elections office in Manila to remind candidates to ensure a literally clean, trash-free barangay election. miss-earth-rp-1.jpg Here are two more pics from Agence France-Presse, showing the babes being greeted by Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento. miss-earth-rp-2.jpg miss-earth-rp-3.jpg Photos courtesy of Agence France-Presse
missearth.jpgSHE'S beautiful -- and she loves Mother Earth. Say hello to Miss Philippines-Earth 2007 Jeanne Harn. Here's an excerpt from the Philippine Daily Inquirer article written by Armin Adina that will come out in the newspaper's Entertainment section tomorrow.
JEANNE Harn, newly-crowned Miss Philippines-Earth 2007, has laughed off rumors that she is an unpopular candidate in the recently concluded pageant. The talk started circulating after viewers reportedly noticed non-winning candidates congratulating Jeanne’s court but appeared to be ignoring her during the coronation. “The telecast was cut short and the viewers saw only the part where they approached the rest of the Top 5 (Miss Air Krystle Ann Dizon, Miss Water Joyce Nocomura, Miss Fire Sarah Katrina Miñoza and Miss Ecotourism Ana Katrina Bautista),” Jeanne explained. Host Piolo Pascual had prompted her victory walk at that point and she was getting ready at the far end of the stage, away from the other candidates. “I did not proceed with the walk and tried to reach out to the other girls, but they were too engrossed in all the fanfare,” she said. “But they all congratulated me afterwards.” She regretted not having her photo taken with her family after the program “because the stage was dismantled right after photographers took pictures of the Top 5 winners.” The 5’7” model and advertising executive got the loudest cheers from the audience in the University of the Philippines Theater in Quezon City—complete with drumbeat—whenever her name was announced during the competition.
