TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines--The tricycle driver who returned $17,000 left by a female passenger continues to reap rewards for his honesty from people and organizations here.
A business organization and Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Lim expressed appreciation to Iluminado Boc.
On June 23, Boc found the money, left in the passenger's seat of his tricycle, sparking an outpouring of tribute.
Lim lauded Boc who, despite his own economic woes, proved "that there is hope after all for every crisis" one faces.
Boc's wife was hospitalized at the time he found the money left by Misael Bernasor.
Lim said he would give Boc a new tricycle unit as a reward for his honesty and, when he learned Boc's monthly installment for the tricycle he drives was past due, would pay the balance.
The mayor likewise promised to foot the hospital bills of Boc’s wife.
On Monday morning, the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) gave P3,000 and a plaque of appreciation to Boc during a program broadcast over a local radio station.
In another radio station, where Boc was also interviewed, the radio announcer gave the tricycle driver P1,500 after learning Boc received P3,000 from Bernasor.
Several radio listeners also offered him cash.
Aside from his wife's hospitalization expenses and installment fees for his motorcycle unit, Boc is also paying for the monthly amortization for his house at the Habitat Village here.

This is what I mean when I say that there are some good ones in the Philippines. This man should be rewarded to at least 10 percent of the money he returned that he did not have to return. That would be at least 1700 dollars or so and the owner of the money should give that to him for sure, otherwise would not the owner lose it all? Have some faith man, give that fella his 10 percent which is a minimum in any business deal for the return on anyones money. May our God bless that man and anyone whom blesses him. Floyd
congratulations..........
salamat sa honesty mo, marami sana ang mahawa sa iyo lalo na ang mga politico at mga nakaupo sa gobyerno........
kahanga hanga ka kapatid......
God bless you and your family.....
I agree with Mr. Floyd, he should be given 10% for the total amount. Well anyway, he has the good heart and the conscience after all. Just do your best and God will do the rest...
I salute you manong drayber ug mahimo unta kang sulundon sa uban pang mga tawo sa Tagbilaran ug sa tibuok Pilipinas.
God bless you and your family...From all of us here, Boholano Community of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
GOD BLESS YOU MEN..

paiyak ako sa awa at tuwa ko sayo, despite of being stricken with poverty you still be able to return the money to he rightful owner, the money will probably change your life forever, pero hindi ka nasilaw at ibinalik mo ito. . .

I'm proud of Mr. Boc's deed even in his poverty, he return the dollar with no condition. My father is from Maribojoc
May your tribe increase! Iluminado Boc is a glimmer of hope in this society. Our congressmen should be embarassed by this display of honesty from a very simple person. May Mr.Boc inspire us all.
A breath of fresh air, you are, Iluminado Boc.
honesty has nothing to do whether you're from Bohol or from Batanes or from Negros....its inside us that makes one honest.
Mr. Boc's family are proud of him for being honest and ofcourse we as a filipino. But lets not forget dahil marami din mga kapwa nating filipino who manage to return things that they found inside their cab. The problem is, they were forgotten so there's no doubt it will happen to Mr. Boc. I don't think so Mr. Boc is the best example for every politicians as they don't want to be forgotten. Anyway, as far as I remember only about $32 the owner manage to give Mr. Boc which is only 1 or 2 hours for the rightful owner to work and earn that amount in USA. I think its not fair for that owner to undervalue our currency as the $32 is a slap on the face and most especially for Mr. Boc to being honest. Lastly, I don't think so all the rewards especially the money that Mr. Boc is receiving now makes him happy aside from the plaque, Ofcourse he will appreciate any help not only the money.
May God help him and his family especially his wife who was hospitalize.
Hi! Boc isang napakagandang bagay o halimbawa ang iyong ginawa inspite of your life situation and on the other hand your wife was still in the hospital, and there the answer for your wife's condition but you did not take it instead you return the money to the owner, God saw it and He gave back to you the blessing, and you have it now so many people are proud of you as a filipino. God bless you always, Jesus loves you!
Very inspiring....I just hope he won't stop doing good things from here...............
all praises for you! Hands down!
the actions of our worthy kababayan, Iluminado Boc is reflective of his inner values, strengthened by character and tempered by his moral fiber. Time and again, trials beset us, situations mostly not of our own designs but by circumstances. How we react defines our character. There are thousands. nay millions of Iluminados whose deeds of honesty and beneficience go unheralded, but I do concede that extra-ordinary deeds, done during extraordinary times should be accorded the benefit of praise. The greatness of a person become the foundation upon which a family is built, a community is anchored and a nation of strength and character is projected to the world. We have the right to take pride in the Iluminado Bocs of our country. This I agree is a breath of fresh air to our dialy diet of political, military and business shenanigans pervasive in the country today. Those who troop the line to praise him, give him assistance and support him and his ailing wife are equally worthy of praise, for they too, shall be found eligible to enter the realm of the righteous in this world, and further onwards to the kingdon not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. MABUHAY KA KABAYAN BOC. - makes me proud to b eFilipino again.....JIMMY ARCEBUCHE

Maybe someone should donate a car for this taxi driver so he can give up on his tricycle. That way, his honesty would really be rewards with greater comfort on his job.
I once lost my wallet looking for some used trucks Iowa and I must say I was very impressed because one of the employees working there was running after me to give me back my wallet. This kind of people are very rare and they should be much more appreciated.
People like this one are very hard to find.I must say that I am impressed by his actions.I work for a cheap car insurance company and people come and leave. Many of them forget different things and if they have the luck to buy a car insurance from us they recieve their forgotten things back because we have their contact data.
