By Senator Richard Gordon
The question remains, are we worthy? In this day and age, in spite of all the martyrdom of many of our heroes, it would appear that we have not learned our lessons.
Corruption is still upon us; our military die and rebels die in war; there seems to be untrammeled assassinations in our country; motorcycle assassins abound; many mayors, many journalists, many politicians have been killed; apparently, we all know how to talk about the problem but we can't seem to fix it.
My own father was assassinated and there was never any closure, neither was there any closure on Senator Ninoy Aquino's assassination. Up to now, we can only suspect who actually had him assassinated. The essential matters, the sense of it all--justice--we have not been able to secure.
We need to have an attitude change in this country once and for all. That attitude has to come out from the fact that we have to learn our history, the fight upon which all our martyrs, including Sen. Aquino, had died for.
We have to start thinking of the common good. We have to think of the national interest. Even if we stumble and fall, we should rise together as a nation and learn from our mistakes. Maybe then can we prove ourselves worthy of all these sacrifices.

It's time we should listen to our OFW's.

with due respect, senator gordon, but cory was only a housewife, but people trusted her, she didn't have a single position in the government before she became a president, and we appreciate everything she does. It only needs a true heart to serve the people in order to be a president. It doesn't to be that complicated. There are people employed to do this jobs for the president. We only need a president who has a sound mind and judgment, that whatever they do, the filipino people is atmost, the first thing the president should think about. It doesn't need billions to be president. What for? vote buying? talent fee for actress? tv ads? Where will they get back what they spent? From the people? Actually, I see the marcos time, reigning back on us now. There is so much self interest that's being shown by these politicians, and it angers me. If People Power is needed then we should have it, we won't get tired, or fatigue as Sen. Miriam Santiago would state, "People Power Fever". Madame, as long as there are people in this government with vested interest, then people power is not dead. I see it coming .. So these people in the government now, they should stop what they are doing to prolong their terms,. And madame santiago, I am not afraid of you, and you will not scold me, coz you work for us, not that we work for you. You are a servant to this nation, and not the other way around. . Ninoy and Cory, We love you . .
World economic history shows that a country progresses if the following elements (pre-conditions to economic growth and development) are present:
1. political stability
2. peace and order
3. rule of law
4. elites (political and business) of the society working for the common good and setting good examples.
No amount of economic policies will be effective and credible without those above elements.

Are we worthy of our heroes?
We might not be worthy but at least we try to be.
Well, because they are the one supporting us by means of remittances, we are not worthy yet of our heroes until we show to them that we have accomplished something out of their dollar support.
Mabuhay ang ating bagong bayani, our heroes our modern heroes, the OFWs.
You are right Dr. Rogelio , idagdag ko pa.
Sabi nga sa article ni Ginoong F.S.Jose-We are poor because our nationalism is inward looking. we have lost our ethical moorings. We condone cronyism and corruption and we don't ostracize or punish the crooks in our midst. Both cronyism and corruption are wasteful but we allow their practice because our loyalty is to family or friend, not to the larger good. We are our own enemy. And we must have the courage, the will, to change ourselves. So that we can we prove ourselves worthy of all our heroes sacrifices.

We thought our democracy was strong enough so people elected Estrada. But he was such a good actor and we were made to believe that his "heart" was true.
Politics is as much a battle of perception than reality. We do not know whether or not we are electing jerks to the office. We do not even know that we are electing political puppets. Electing principled and competent leaders is a check on leaders being puppets. I saw a headline with Estrada raising the hand of Noynoy, I think it's more of Estrada hanging on Noynoy's popularity. When I saw the picture, I wished Noynoy wouldn't run. I only hope Noynoy doesn't tarnish Cory's image like what Aquino-Oreta did to Ninoy's. Seriously, we need an untarnished Cory symbolism for posterity.
It takes hundreds of years for nature to produce heroes with exceptional power to change, affect and improve the lives of their fellow citizens. While it is true that we all have the potential to become heroes, not all of us are given the opportunity to pursue that full potential. There are many unnamed Filipinos who died during the war against Spain, the Fil-American war,WWII,and during Martial law. Do we know them all, aside from Rizal,Mabini,Bonifacio, and Aquino? Do we live up to the expectations or examples set by our heroes,or do we revere them only in name but desecrate their memories by our casual approach to life?
Cory Aquino had to die a natural death before all of us could understand her legacy and importance. Politicians and the powers-that-be praised her to the highest heavens, yet less than a month after her burial, they are back to their own self-glorifying corrupt way of life as they prepare to spend billions of pesos for their forthcoming election campaign. Perhaps we do not deserve our heroes because we have repeatedly allowed ourselves to become the tools of a corrupt and incompetent system of governance. I don't consider Manny Pacquiao a hero--true,he is immensely popular,he brought respect and recognition to Philippine boxing, but his many ill-advised and self centered decisions(dabbling in politics, gambling,"intelligence",showbiz)only proved his own immature and unstable way of thinking unworthy of a hero.
If this question was asked during the times of Ninoy Aquino, then my answer would be YES. But now, looking at the majority of Filipinos, most of them just don't care anymore about the future of the country.
The smart Filipinos are trying to get out to immigrate to another country where they will be paid better for their services.
The rich Filipinos, the influential, and the powerful only care about their businesses, how to evade tax, and how to support politicians who will favor them after the elections.
The poor and uneducated Filipinos are ignorant and pathetic. They don't know and they don't care. The only thing they do is to complain everything to the government whoever the president is. You can't hire them because they don't have skills or work ethics. Sad thing is these people are the fastest growing part of the population.
The politicians, from Pres. GMA, to the senators/congressmen, mayors, and baranggay chairmans, and yes, even sungguniang kabataan are corrupt and greedy for power. I guess that's why they try to kill each other, bribe people, and spend lots of money to get in power. And once in power, they will abuse their office and steal taxpayer's money and go into bogus contracts to recuperate from their election expenses.
Are we worthy of our heroes? Did Ninoy die in vain?
Ninoy sparked that spirit of unity and righteousness in the Filipinos so he didn't die in vain. Democracy was restored. However, even after Marcos' fall from power, his cohorts, cronies, and his evil drones have continued ruling the government and business sector.
We are worse now. Pres. GMA is so disillusioned with her performance. Listening to her SONA makes me vomit. Kapal ng mukha eh. The scariest thing is that she's lying, stealing, and wasting the taxpayer's money to extravagant state visits, and she DECLARES that she is not doing anything wrong, as if she is the victim of all these circumstances.
That woman doesn't have a soul and all the people who supports and does the dirty work for her.
Filipinos are worth dying for!!! Sadly, our country's leaders love themselves more and won't lift their fingers to fix the problem.
The best way to honour fallen heroes is to build upon their sacrifices and deliver real and measurable RESULTS.
Look around. Lots of yellow ribbons, "L" hand gestures, and crowds standing around -- just as in 1986.
But the question remains:
Where are the results?
We can wear yellow til we turn blue and wave "L" gestures 'til our hands turn white, but the TRUTH is a bit more demanding:
It is ONLY when we are able to answer the above question CONVINCINGLY can we TRULY claim to have HONOURED the sacrifices of Cory and Ninoy.
Senator Gordon,
This is a nicely written piece. This question has been upon us Filipinos for a long time and it shall be there until we have responded quite fully as a nation in one defeaning voice - yes... we are worthy of the blood of our heroes. When we live righteously and are happy doing so, we pick our leaders correctly, we mold our children towards a national consciousness that guides their actions and their very lives. We must or else we will be eaten up by our neighboring cultures who are rising to the call of greatness - who's culture promises a good life for their children.
I have travelled in countries like US, China, Singapore... etc. I have seen what it is like in progressive nations. It is appalling to see so many problems we struggle with that are easily dealt with in other countries - like traffic, or justice, or education, etc...
The spirit of progress needs to be kindled. I have read before that enabling change in society is like starting a nuclear reaction. You need to start a reaction with a critical mass then the chain reaction would naturally happen. The nationallistic spirit of progressive countries has been dearly bought with the blood of their heroes so that the seeds of a nationalistic spirit can be planted in the hearts of their countrymen. Then progress naturally happens.
Watching South Korea host one of the recent Olympics and display the pride of their country sends shivers to the spine. That kind of a culure, that kind of a nation, that kind of a furture for our children should inspire us to push forward for the better.
We must continue believing...just as much as our heroes did.
just learn from our previous mistakes!!! ninoy died for the love in our country!! yes, it is worthy!! 'cause the freedom back!! as an ofw, we are tired working abroad!!! if we come back and die in our country because of hungerness, is it worthy??? PAG-IBIG LANG PO S KAPWA AT PAMGMAMAHAL SA BANSA ANG NEED NG BAWAT ISA!!! YAN PO ANG NAGING FORMULA NG MAYAYAMANG BANSA!!! COULD I SUGGEST NA BRO. EDDIE VILLANUVA-SEN RICHARD GORDON TANDEM IN 2010 ELECTION??? SA KANILA PO NAMIN NAKIKITA YUNG TUNAY NA LEADER!!!!
Are we worthy of our heroes?
This question should be addressed to the politicians and not to ordinary poor filipinos like us.
The question should be.. are our politicians worthy of the people's trust in as much as they the people who put into the office.
I think it is time that politicians should show to our heroes and filipinos that they worth of the office they occupy.
The challenge for the next president will be how to inculcate a sense of nationhood among Filipinos. How do we coax individuals into putting the national interest ahead of self? How do we ensure that it would really be the national interest, not some elite sector's agenda, that we will be propagating?
Singapore, Japan and other countries were able to do this. We should be able to, but we will need a truly God fearing, righteous, visionary, and charismatic leader to be our next president.
I used to wonder whether Ninoy was correct in his belief that "the Filipino is worth dying for." Who are we to contradict him when even Jesus Christ himself died for mankind, which essentially includes us.
ELECT THE RIGHT PERSON!! DI PO YONG KUNG SINO ANG SIKAT O NUMBER ONE SA SURVEY!!!
TAMA KA SENATOR GORDON, NA DAPAT AY MAGSIMULA NA TAYONG MAG-ISIP AT GUMAWA PARA SA PAGBANGON NG BANSANG PILIPINAS AT PAG-UNLAD NG MGA PINOY!!!
TAMA RIN PO SI JOHN F!!! NA ANG NAGING SUSI NG PAGBANGON NG MGA MAYAYAMANG BANSA AY PAG-IBIG SA KAPWA AT BANSA!!!
KAYA NATIN YAN!!!
Every Filipino soldiers who died in a battle were considered heroes.. (at least for me) How would i address to this question? if i were to ask, i would said YES! Yes, for those people who love his country, his people, his own nationality, his language and his own self. Yes, to those who, in there own little way be a heroes. But in a second time, if you going to asked me again, i would have stop. and think. are we? NO! No, to those who fight their own government. those who protest for their own good. damn! why dont you people just support the government instead.. you just cant simply blame it to our government; to our officials; to politicians. Why not blame yourself for being so selfish? Why not just let the authority do there duties and do your own?
We have our rules and regulations to follow, bakit kailangan pang magprotesta? Yes you have your rights, gamitin mo lang sa tama.
I myself offer my life to the country and fight for the peace. I dislocate my normal lives, may not be able to dress as i like; and when I get tired i will not quit.. Rest if you must but dont you quit..
Yes! we are worth dying for! Be yourself a hero!
"...We have to start thinking of the common good. We have to think of the national interest. Even if we stumble and fall, we should rise together as a nation and learn from our mistakes. Maybe then can we prove ourselves worthy of all these sacrifices."
OFW's have made more sacrifices. Just like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Latin American Countries, the Philippine economy depends more on OFW's than foreign investors and foreign aid combined.
OFW's have more ideas and experience to offer than the smartest foreign investors.
OFW's are not just heroes you welcome at the airport. Some are martyrs encased in coffins.
don't blame our heroes for this mess we have right now. They died to give us a country, government, freedom and identity. From that moment, it is the people whom they died for should take care of the rest when they are gone. Look at the Philippines now, is it the one envisioned by the heroes to be like when they are gone? I don't think so. We always get what we deserve. We deserve to suffer now for we failed to do our part. The educated ones failed to educate the illiterate ones, who constitute the overwhelming majority, on how to choose the right leaders or maybe to show a good example of a true sense of nationalism. The illiterate ones also failed to exercise their prudent judgement that is supposedly innate to every human being. They did not listen to their conscience but gave way to the call of their stomach. I do not blame them for being illiterate. I chastise them for being morally corrupt. Hunger does not justify moral degradation. Are worthy of our heroes? Yes. Are we worthy of this mess? Yes. Are Filipinos worth dying or living for? That remains to be seen.
Are we worthy of our heroes?
Let's clarify the hero... national hero or modern heroes.
If Rizal and Bonifacio we are talking about, No... we are not yet worthy of our heroes. They died to give us independence from foreign colonizer yet we have not done yet to the country and as filipinos.
If we talk of modern heroes, like the OFWS, then we are doing our very best for them to spend wisely the money they sent to us...
As to political heroes like Ninoy, then politicians should answer this question... are they worthy for Ninoy, he gave us his life for new set of politicians to rule the country,,, then not yet.
The politicians today are not yet worthy of our heroes.
Are we worth it? As a collective people, I doubt it... We are the sum of all our parts, every single one of us. The way I see it, as a nation we hinge too much hope on elections and politics as our way out. When will we realize that these are just games that multi-millionaires play? We who stand to lose from the charade need to stand up for ourselves on a day to day basis wherever we are. Support real reforms when we see it - in the office, church, factory, school, street, mall... Unless a critical mass among us could rise above our highly personalistic and superficial (as in shallow and plastic) ways of dealing with life's challenges, this country is surely bound to be stuck in third world mode for another generation. At least.
are we worthy of our heroes?
Sorry. Who need heroes? Philippines is for Filipinos. Should your daily life is politicised or religiously doctrinised, so be it? Who cares...is someones poor's tummy aching or the rich is insatiably wanting. Face the fact, Filipino life is controlled by money not by heroes made from unwanted war.
I am now also unsure whether we really deserve our heroes or not due to the fact that a lot of negative things are happening in the country. I surmise Filipino people have been very hasty in taking care of the freedom and free-will that were given to us that is why others lead to doing bad things because they were not given limitations to what they can do. Only their conscience and faith can hinder them and yet they sometimes tend to also disregard those two factors. I understand how others strive hard for survival but I think it shouldn't tantamount to becoming evil and hurting others. It is innate to everyone both the goodness and badness but it is how we control them and make the former stands out that make us live a happy and peaceful life. Wake up Filipinos! We are one GOOD country! We are GOOD people. Let us not corrupt our minds by our desire for power and wealth. Let us stay good and be good to others.
we are not worthy of our heroes and we don't need heroes. That's the reality. so there is no need for extraordinary folks to sacrifice their lives for the sake of others. eventually, everybody will wake up. they will save themselves because there is a hero within us. it only depends when we decide to be a hero. the time has not come yet when there will be general consciousness and concern. there are those who want to picture themselves as doing heroic deeds but in the back of their minds they are doing it for personal reason and ambitions. we are seeing them today in tv ads using people's money to advance their own interest.
heroes?
as far as i know only jose rizal is our hero, national hero as learned from history books, inculcated in our young years.
what heroes did was their own doing. they did something that was not right that caused their lives.
heroes are just creation to symbolize for emulation.
everybody who is doing good is hero.
our father, our mother, our parents are the real heroes. they were there since we were born, care, love and guide.
they are the real heroes but no recognition.
politicians, they want to be called heroes for next elections or stay in office.
mcboni,
i just dont simply get your blogs. what do you really want to say? are you okay? if your smoking crack, refrain from blogging please. respect the other bloggers.
I'd like to share this quote in response to the above post: "The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example." ~ Benjamin Disraeli... BE PROFESSIONAL!
HE HE HE you are right McBoni. Not only me needs attention. The author of the thread and you also needs the attention. That's one of the reasons someone is being duped by another.
pwede tayong magpaka-bayani rito,...mahalin at unawain ang lahat ng sumasali at nagbibigay ng kanilang nasasa-loob,alam ko mahirap at mabigat,...ngunit sa mga bayani e ok lahat yan, nakalalagot din nga pero anong ating magagawa...sa daily reflection ko e,tamang-tama ang title ng sumulat,'Learning to Love', from 1 Thessalonians 4:9 , ...for you yourselves have been taught by God how to love one another.
sabi pa,...In recent years, neurobiologists have provided studies suggesting that the ability to be compassionate is anatural part of who we are.
The human brain is wired to be loving. The problem,of course,is that humans do not always activate this innate gift. Life experiences wound people so deeply that the power to love becomes inaccessible.Drugs numb the response to love. Apathy shrivels it. Deliberate choices toward self-centeredness limit the ability to care for one another.Continual images of violence dull the brain's capacity to love.
We have been taught 'how' to love. Now,it is up to us to 'do' it.
minsan mahirap sabihin talaga yung 'i love you',pero praktis din,ha,ha! at me hindi talaga sanay, mahiyain,ha,ha pero gusto rin.'praktis tayong 'magmahalan.' kaya naman ah!

SA ADMIN PAKI SAWATA NAMAN PO YUNG ASONG ULOL NA NANGGUGULO.
SALAMAT.
mcboni,
well, thats not fair. the blog admin should do something about it. it could happen to anyone.
At first, I have no intention of commenting because the question is too cheesy and smacks of political trap.
But come to think of it, some deserve our heroes and some do not. I think heroes are just ordinary men and women who tried to get what they wanted for themselves despite of opposing forces. In a sense, they showed us how to get things for ourselves, like food on our table, freedom, security, human rights, name it. Their motivations may not be altruistic at the time, but they were not jerks about it, and that's what made them heroes.
Heroism, according to my esteemed Prof, need not be a grandstand act. We can be heroes through our own little ways. Following the code of behaviour expected for us as citizens, and walking the extra mile are good starting points. You don't even have to die first to be a hero. Ask your friendly taxi driver or yout firefighter.
I gotta take exception to Noynoy's official slogan though:
"Noypi ako"?
This is as reported by Conrado de Quiros in his latest column.
What's up with that? Is he suggesting that our being Pinoy is all about being onboard with his political aspirations?
This is a simple case of crass appeal to "nationalism". Even lower is invoking the memory of his hero parents (as if being an offspring of one necessarily makes you one as well) to prop up his pitch.
Quoting de Quiros, one can easily see how pilit this campaign slogan is:
So are we worthy of our heroes?
I don't think so. Not if we are in the habit of routinely believing this kind of h0rsemanure.
Speaking of heroes, the OFW's are dubbed as the living heroes of modern-day Philippines for the obvious reason that they save the economy from sinking, keeping it afloat by siphoning tons of dollars to the coffers regardless of the nature of their jobs abroad. I am one of them, and yet, I am reluctant to consider myself a hero. I am working in foreign soil to support my huge family, which otherwise would have starved because my income as a teacher then was insufficient to meet the needs of my 9 growing up kids. Think of the hard work, the emotional and psychological stress, the angst of a mother being away from family...all these comprise the sacrifice of the OFW's. On my first year abroad, I lost a 17-yr old son. He was a drop-out. He was stabbed to death. Now here's another likely candidate, another 17-yr old son. The private school dropped him from the roll for truancy. That is what I get for being far. But I am I worthy of the harsh treatment of the school because of strict school policy? I need to transfer him to a public school. The private school requires me to pay the year's tuition in full (around $350) before they could release his transfer credential!!! Is this the flagellation I deserve for being a “living hero’? It is so frustrating for me to cope with life as OFW, but it will be more devastating for me to come home to sheer poverty. Certainly, this isn't the kind of existence that our heroes visualized for the generations to come: to enslave ourselves to foreigners just because the greedy politicians have robbed us of our fair share right in our very own territory.
mukhang... 9-09-09,na nga po yata,so Novena, talaga as we discern,'noypi' baga?
Senator,
How exactly do we go forward, when the very Person that is suppose to be leading us,is herself questionable, how exactly do we go forward, when most politicians ideological objective are based on what they can have, and not what they can give,How can we go forward if Law and order always gets circumvented by the elite and powerful,Were can we find a country were a pedophile, that was convicted, sentence to a double life, gets to live like a king, short enough to have his sentence commuted by no less than the President of our country,or a triple "Premeditated"Murderer convicted and was sentence to double life, also commuted and paroled,Both crimes was not committed out of Political Ideology, but by their own demented state, and arrogance towards the weak, and helpless...
Our people are angry, hungry, desperate, sad, confused and most of all...We want answers,NOT SPEECH...
The colossal misunderstanding of our time,is the assumption that insights will work with people who are unmotivated to change, communication does not depends on syntax,or eloquence, rhetoric,or articulation , But on the emotional context on which that message is being heard, people can only hear you when they are moving towards you, and they are not likely to,when your words are persuing them,Even the choices of words, loose their power, When they are used to overpower..and Attitudes are the real figure of speech...

Well, there goes another one. Do you ever wonder why the Philippines is always backwards in so many ways. Even the simple and proud word "Pinoy" is being twisted for the sake of winning cheap votes. There is a place for vulgar word, and a place for right a word. Election is no time for vulgar word.
Hay, nako...
Yes, indeed, are we worthy of our heroes? Maybe you can give this lecture to the officials of this country from the top to the lowest! There is widespread moral decadence ! Gov't officials wash their dirty linens even in the international world; Officials are smuggling billions of dollars, squandering money in luxurious lifestyles, investing millions out of the country etc. Is there life style check? I worked 20 years abroad with salary higher than most Filipino government officials, yet I cannot invest in millions of dollar/pesos. I live simple life to send back euros to the Phil. but it's very easy for government official to invest after a year work coz "they can afford" to squander people's money? And the citizens must accept it as normal normal!!!
Senator, how come you want whistle-blowers to be brought to court (i thought they are government witnesses) while the real culprits are beyond question? It's very odd !!! Evidences are real and known by the public like the Russian custom scandal, the fertilizer scam, the NBN deals, the railroad deals, the greedy illegal and destructive mining in the country. How come, despite the so-called improvement in Phil. economy, people are becoming superlatively poor living in filth and hunger laboring till over midnight in call centers? how come more than a million Filipinos are out of the country? How come the government is importing Fil. labor very cheaply? How come the President travels with a big entourage of unnecessary politicians? Don't we have embassies? what are they for ? To prepare the coming of the President and after that to enjoy their social life in the Western countries or elsewhere?
Indeed the country is oozing & stinking of corruption. Are they worthy of our heroes? It is very sad our heroes died for nothing!!!
I wonder why Philippine politics has to have a lot of drama. Why do we have to put politicians on a pedestal?
In my observation, some Filipino voters are just like a fan club. They elect their favorite idols to office. Once they elect their leaders, they surrender all their future to that candidate.
This should not be the case. Candidates are just mere mortals who "think" in their own line of thinking (however mistaken), that they are "leader materials". They are actually groveling at the voters' feet for acceptance - voters should be smart enough to realize that.
Politicians are just job applicants to the highest position in the land - it is up to us to decide if they are up to the job. They could also be compared to race horses. During elections, we are making bets if our candidate will make good during his/her term.
As it is, our democracy has evolved recently. Remember EDSA I? People Power gave our democracy another power or tool, whether or not you argue that it's extra-constitutional. It is the power to recall our elected president or impeachment. We already used it twice, against Marcos and against Estrada.
As the people who hired the president, senators, and congressmen, we should make sure that they are doing their jobs the way we wanted it done.
I don't mean what the senators and contressmen are doing - PRETENDING TO BE OPPOSITIONISTS just wasting people's money and time. It should be the citizens forming lobby groups to oppose objectionable laws or to endorse beneficial laws or budgets.
Now, if the politicians will not listen to citizens, we should be able to recall them in the streets until laws are in place for a more rapid recall procedure.
"We need to have an attitude change in this country once and for all.
Maybe then can we prove ourselves worthy of all these sacrifices."
i agree to what sen, gordon wrote in his article. i firmly suggest that sen. gordon run for presidency. he is mirage of ethics and excellent public service for the filipinos. he examplifies very good qualities of a leader- brave, devout catholic and untainted leadership. he opposed the vfa and made subic as economic zone. this only shows a leader who believes in the filipinos without intervention from foreign support.
Having said my piece that candidates are actually job applicants to the highest position in the land, I think there should be a citizen screening process.
First question, what is their understanding of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program?
Its really time to change in everything if we want to see some hope in the Phil. Right now,it's very shameful what this country's political leaders are doing. It makes me ashamed of my Filipino roots!

There is nothing to be ashamed of. It's just what politicians do. We should be ashamed if we let them get away with it.

from a book i am reading,...o, 'The Case For Prudence in...
E yung author e kaya raw niya ito naisulat e to deal nga sa political frustrations after the 2008 election. At syempre nakadagadag pa yung sa economy...the state of party politics."partisan wrangling", negative campaign ads, o talo. Many believe that corruption in politics is inevitable.Others are frustrated by the 'incremental nature' of any progress in policy and politics in a democratic society. Little good ever seems to be achieved;nothing but half measures seems to result. At parang yung lagi na nating naririnig,'eleksyon na naman',ANO KAYA? sa biruaan sa kanto,e 'me-mangyari kaya??? sa iba naman e,'party time again'...but yes,me umu-usad,at alam ko UUSAD,...kahit pa nga tila, matapos ang isang eleksyon e tila walang nabago e,eto namana at syempre,nasa-isip na naman natin,o natatanong natin,ok pa rin bagang 'bumoto o IF OUR VOTES REALLY MATTER, o whether politics is really part of the answer.
Kaya maganda nga rin siguro na isa ito sa mapag-munihan at habang ayan nga at tila me mga ginagawa na ang ilan at me mga sakripisyo na,...at syempre marami tayong pag-iisipan at pag-mumuning kailangan at syempre 'DASAL', 'sinabi pa 'whether it's moral or effective to achieve a partial good in politics and public policy when the ideal is not possible.'
It is often claimed that it's "moral compromise" to aim for anything less the perfect.-isa rin nga ito na tanong,at talagang nararanasan natin at nakikita. At nakararaos,...sa Korte at Kongreso,'by showing that it is both moral and effective to achieve political and legal reform through the momentum created by incremental changes,at we are being encouraged to as citizens and activists to to persevere in politics and public policy. 'wow' hope nage-gets nyo po.ituloy pa natin ng konti po,...Our high expectations sometimes tempt us to think that an "all for nothing" approach must govern politics. But in the face of institutional constraints, competing interests and real obstacles that prevent 'any' pilitical reform, e sabi ng sumulat .e 'I contend that there is no moral compromise when we make the aim of politics not the perfect good but the 'greatest good possible'.
Balik sa Prudence, yung orig na meaning sa classical daw po,is a practical wisdom, has been considered a cardinal virtue since at least the time of Aristotle. 'wow'.
Prudence is concerned with right action and requires deliberation, judgement, decision and execution.Wisdom understands what is right;prudence involves making the right decision and implementing it well.Prudence takes accountof limitations in a world of constraints and strives to achieve the greatest measure of justice--the greatest good possible--under the particular circumstances.
A prudential political strategy focuses on worthy goals, identifies effective means to achieve those ends and the wise use of limited resources, recognizes the limitations of the fallen world and its constraints on the political action, and seeks to preserve the possibily of future progress...itutuloy kung?...mahaba na po at again paumanhin.
