AT LEAST, that’s what Six Apart hopes to achieve as it upgraded TypePad and Movable Type.
Make no mistake about it: More companies will see blogging as a vital business tool, and with its upgraded blogging solutions Six Apart aims to help these firms create full-blown business sites.
Here’s an excerpt from the Reuters story that came out on eWeek.com:
“Blogging is evolving,” said Chris Alden, general manager of the professional business unit at Six Apart. “Maybe the era of pundit blogging is maturing: The adoption of blogging for personal business and productivity purposes is exploding.”
The 150-employee San Francisco-based company is introducing an upgrade to its software for business blogging, known as Movable Type 4, that allow businesses to create and manage thousands of blogs inside or outside their organizations.
In addition, the company is expanding TypePad, its hosted blogging software used by professional bloggers and publishers, to allow users not just to update blogs, but also to add more traditional Web pages for storing static information.
TypePad is working with Microsoft’s Windows Live Writer, its tool for publishing Web pages offline without an Internet connection. Once the user reconnects, the site is updated.
Do you have a business that relies on blogging? Are you using blogs for your intranet? Have you helped companies set up their blogs?
Tell us how you’re using blogging to gain a competitive advantage — we’d love to hear from you and share your success story ![]()

Now more corporate blogs have sprung up use as marketing tool and defensive strategy. Blogs – generally seen as a neutral venue to listen to what people says or customer experience and gain unfiltered views good or bad. Feedback from blogs can be a valuable influence to companies operational procedures and improve products or services for customer satisfaction sometime in the past can only be attained via surveys or other research technology like mystery shopping etc. Though fake comments/reviews/ratings on blogs can be can painful especially to major brands caused by what is generally described as web 2.0. I believe businesses should keep monitoring blogs that contain postings with their products reviews or feedback and act appropriately.
By the way, I don’t have any business or corporate agenda when I started blogging. Am just also a fan of the social media revolution and thought it’s nice to post good tourism and environment stories for destinations like Puerto Princesa. Believe it or not.
