WATCHING World Wrestling Entertainment Night of Champions on Jack TV and the ac
tion is about to start.
Keep refreshing this page to get the latest results. And stop reading if you do
n't want the results spoiled for you heh :)
Jim Ross welcomes everyone as they broadcast Night of Champions from deep in th
e heart of Texas, saying that the arena is sold out with a crowd of 16, 151 WWE
fans. Fellow SmackDown (yes, JR is now with SmackDown) commentator Mick Foley
greets JR and the viewers.
First up is the WWE tag team championship match. WWE Tag Team champions The Miz
and John Morrison make their way to the ring.
Next up are the challengers, Finlay and his, uh, son, Hornswoggle (please don't
ask).
***
Foley says Finlay is able to inject the "classic European style" as opposed to
the American style of catch wrestling. OK, whatever you say, Mick. I still don'
t like Finlay, and the leprechaun, either.
***
Haha, Finlay uses his "son" Hornswoggle as a battering ram against the tag team
champs. OK, that was amusing. Will this be the night of the Irish?
***
Nice teamwork by the champs, who are making frequent tags to keep Finlay at b
ay.
Oh jeez, Hornswoggle tags himself in, and -- WTF -- the leprechaun hits a Stunn
er! Followed by a Bulldog.
***
Hornswoggle is trying to crawl to their corner.
Can Hornswoggle make the tag?
Noooo!!!
***
Hornswoggle finally manages to tag in Finlay, who goes to work.
Celtic Cross by Finlay. Makes the tag to Hornswoggle, who is about to attempt
a Tadpole Splash (yeah, a mini-Frog Splash) from the top rope, but Morrison re
verses and then pins the leprechaun for the 1-2-3.
The tag team champs win and retain their title!
Winners: The Miz and John Morrison
***
Heh, they show a replay of Hornswoggle doing the Stunner, and Foley says, "Some
where in Texas, Stone Cold [Steve Austin] must be smiling."
***
Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler greet the viewers, and reminds them ho
w the recent draft has made an impact on Night of Champions. Triple H, who is d
efending his WWE Championship against John Cena, has been drafted to SmackDown,
so if he wins, his title will go with him to SmackDown.
***
Next up is the US Championship. Chavo Guerrero makes his way to the ring, toget
her with bodyguard and fellow La Familia member Bam Neely. Champ Matt Hardy the
n makes his entrance.
Match is underway.
Will Chavo's bodyguard be a major factor in this match?
***
Chavo is working on the injured left knee of Matt Hardy.
Chavo is "systematically dissecting the left leg" of Hardy, JR comments.
***
Matt hits the Side Effect. Matt covers Chavo, but he kicks out.
***
Chavo tries to make Matt submit with a half Boston Crab, but Matt reaches the r
opes. Matt hits the DDT and covers Chavo, who again kicks out.
Chavo again tries the half Boston Crab, but again Matt is able to reach the rop
es.
***
Chavo looks like he is attempting the Three Amigos, but from out of nowhere, Ma
tt hits the Twist of Fate to counter!
Matt pins Chavo for the 1-2-3 to retain the US Championship.
Winner: Matt Hardy
***
Remember, all matches at Night of Champions is (duh!) a championship match.
So far, it's 2-0 for the champs.
Man, I can't even decide who to root for later in Triple H vs John Cena. I don'
t like either of them.
***
ECW commentators Taz and Mike Adamle welcome viewers, as the ECW Championship m
atch is about to get underway.
It's a Triple Threat Match involving champ Kane, The Big Show, and, ho hum, The
World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry.
Mark Henry makes his entrance.
Next up is Big Show, who earned this championship shot by winning the Singapore
Cane match in Judgment Day One Night Stand.
Now the champ Kane makes his entrance.
***
The action is underway. I'm rooting for Show. Anyway, Kane has been drafted to
Raw, along with Batista, who will be challenging Edge later for the World Heavy
weight Championship.
***
Right now it's Show and Mark Henry in the ring, while Kane is outside, just wat
ching them.
Why do they insist on using Mark Henry? Can you say slow?
Show scoops up Mark Henry and slams him, heh.
***
After Show and Mark Henry beat each other up, Kane decides to enter the ring, c
limbing the top rope and hits Henry.
Haha, now it's a double Choke Slam as Kane and Show take out the trash, er, I m
ean, Henry.
***
Kane once again goes to the top rope and goes flying, but Show catches him and
Choke Slams him! Show pins him, but Kane kicks out.
***
WTF! All attention was on Kane and Show, with Kane doing a suplex on Show, when
out of nowhere Mark Henry smashes his 450-pound frame into Kane and pins him!
Mark Henry is the new ECW Champion. What the hell?
Oh, well, Kane is going to Raw.
Winner: Mark Henry
***
Backstage interlude with Money in the Bank winner CM Punk telling John Cena and
Batista that his briefcase is getting heavy. Will he cash it in at Night of Ch
ampions?
Maybe that's why Henry won haha to job for CM Punk later :) One can dream.
***
Next up is the World Tag Team Championship.
Defending champs Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes enter the ring.
Next up is challenger Ted DiBiase Jr. Who's going to be his tag team partner?
"Um, there's a problem. My partner texted me and says he's on his way," DiBiase
says.
He asks if they can wait for 10 minutes.
***
In one of the crappiest twists ever heh turns out Cody Rhodes is DiBiase's myst
ery partner.
Rhodes ambushes his partner from behind when the match starts, and DiBiase reve
als the treachery. DiBiase then quickly pins Holly, and now DiBiase and Rhodes
are the new World Tag Team Champions.
Winners: Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes
***
Boring blah-blah-blah interlude with Todd Grisham at the luxury suite interview
ing John Bradshaw Liefeld, who is complaining because he's not part of this pay
-per-view.
JBL asks Todd why he's not part of Night of Champions.
"Because you're not a champion," Todd replies.
LOL!
***
Man, isn't this JBL crap over yet? Now he's dissing Mark Cuban, and then the Da
llas Cowboys.
***
Cheap heat as JBL tells the booing crowd his favorite city is New York, home of
the SuperBowl champs, the New York Giants.
Thankfully, this boring segment is over, and we're now going to find out who WW
E Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho's surprise opponent will be.
***
Chris Jericho's original opponent was Shawn Michaels, but he's supposedly unabl
e to compete because of an eye injury.
Chris is now ranting about how he's competed even when he's injured.
***
OK, talk about a surprise opponent. It's Kofi Kingston, the Jamaican Sensation,
who's been drafted to Raw from ECW.
***
The high-flying Kofi is pretty good, but there was no build up to this match, a
nd I really can't get into it. After that crappy DiBiase angle, and the crapp
ier JBL segment, this PPV is becoming really boring.
***
In another shocker, turns out Shawn Michaels is in the arena, and his distracti
on costs Chris Jericho the match.
Kofi is the new champ!
Winner: Kofi Kingston
***
Now it's time for the WWE Women's Championship match.
Defending champ Mickie James makes her entrance.
Now the challenger Katie Lea Burchill enters the ring.
***
Katie Lea seems to be the more powerful of the two women, Michael Cole notes. W
ell, yeah, Mickie's known for her spunk and speed, not really her power, right?
***
Mickie James hits the DDT and then pins Katie Lea to retain her title.
Winner: Mickie James
***
It's time for the World Heavyweight Championship match -- Edge vs Batista, baby
!
***
Edge and Batista have made their way to the ring.
Don't tell me Edge "banished" The Undertaker from WWE, only to have to job to B
atista heh :)
***
Uh-oh, JR and Mick Foley keep talking about Edge's unbeaten streak when it come
s to defending the World Heavy Championship against Batista. Usually a bad si
gn. Will the streak end with this match?
***
So far, it seems like Edge is serious about wanting to beat Batista without any
help from La Familia. Not a peep from La Famila, Mick Foley notes.
***
Batista Spears Edge. People think it's over, but Edge gets his shoulder up.
***
Batista goes for the Batista Bomb, but Edge counters with a DDT. Edge covers Ba
tista, but it's not enough to put away Batista.
***
La Familia finally makes an appearance.
Batista has Edge covered, but just when it looks like he's won, SmackDown gener
al manager Vickie Guerrero pulls away the ref.
It's mayhem as Batista later grabs Vickie and sends her sailing throught the ai
r when he throws her against the other members of La Familia. But when Batista
turns, Edge hits him with the championship belt.
Edge pins Batista for the 1-2-3! Man, talk about the Ultimate Opportunist.
Winner: EdgeÂ
***
It's time for the main event: WWE Champion Triple H vs John Cena.
***
John Cena makes his entrance.
Will he be able to bring the WWE Championship to Raw?
***
Triple H makes his entrance.
***
Michael Cole seems to be sucking up (blame the writers heh) saying Triple H cou
ld be the poster boy for Night of Champions. You know, 12-time champion, blah b
lah blah.***
"Quite frankly, I'll be pulling for John Cena to bring back that title to Monda
y Night Raw," Jerry "The King" Lawler tells Michael Cole.
***
Is Cena the new Hulk? The King says "one thing Triple H doesn't want to do is g
et John Cena angry."
Cena: Please don't make me angry. You can't see me when I'm angry.
***
Cena kicks out of the Pedigree.
***
FU connects!
Cena goes for the pin, but Triple H kicks out!
***
Cena and Triple H exchange punches.
"It's almost as if they're trying to knock sense into each other," The King Say
s.
Cena finally connects with the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Third time's a charm.
***
Triple H goes for the Pedigree again, but Cena counters and locks in the STFU.
Will Triple H tap again?
***
Triple H reaches the ropes, but Cena pulls him back to the center of the ring.
Triple H counters with the Crossface. Cena refuses to tap.
Cena then uses his strength to lift Triple H into an FU position, but Triple H
counters with the Pedigree!
Triple H covers Cena for the 1-2-3! What a great win!
Winner: Triple H
***
Well, Night of Champions had a number of boring matches, but that Triple H-John
Cena war was a great way to end the PPV.

UPDATE: Looks like Randy Orton legitimately injured his le
ft collarbone when he got tossed over the top rope when Triple H countered the
RKO. As you'll remember if you saw the match, Orton looked like he was trying t
o grab on to the rope but failed and landed hard on the floor. If you haven't w
atched One Night Stand yet but don't mind having the results spoiled, check out
the WWE news story -- the article also has a link to a vide
o of Orton receiving medical assistance after the match.
Some wrestling sites are reporting that the legitimate injury Orton sustain
ed was the reason the match was supposedly cut short.
WELL, here we are again with another World Wrestling Entertainment pay-per-view
event, One Night Stand, which I'm again watching on Jack TV.
Stop reading now if you don't want the results spoiled for you. Just like the <
a href="http://blogs.inquirer.net/couchpotatoes/2008/05/19/spoiler-alert-bloggi
ng-wwe-judgment-day-results/" target="_blank">last time, I won't be giving
a blow-by-blow account, but rather highlights and some thoughts on the matches
and WWE Superstars. Keep refreshing this page to get the latest updates.
As usual, Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler are doing the commentary for Raw
and hyping up the matches.
First up is a Falls Count Anywhere match between Jeff Hardy and the superheavyw
eight Samoan Umaga.
As I'm typing this, the high-flying Hardy just did a cross body from the top ag
ainst Umaga, who was outside the ring, and covered him for a near-fall. Yup, as
the name of the match says, it's Falls Count Anywhere -- you can pin your oppo
nent anywhere.
***
Spraying your opponent's face with a fire extinguisher backstage? Yup, that's O
ne Night Stand: Extreme Rules for you, heh :)
***
Poor ref, he has to follow these two wherever they go, and now they're under th
e hot San Diego sun in the parking lot, banging each other against the side of
trucks and anything metal they can find.
***
Damn, Jeff Hardy just did a Swanton dive from the top of an 18-wheeler truck on
a prone Umaga, then covered him for the win!
Winner: Jeff Hardy
* * *
SmackDown commentators Mick Foley and Michael Cole hype the Stretcher Match bet
ween The Animal, Batista, and The Heartbreak Kid. Shawn Michaels.
***
ECW commentators Tazz and Mike Adamle talk about the Singapore Cane match (a st
aple match in the old Extreme Championship Wrestling) involving The Big Show, C
M Punk, John Morrison, Chavo_Guerrero and Tommy Dreamer.
The winner will receive a shot at the ECW championship currently held by Kane a
t Night of Champions.
Tazz and Adamle keep talking about how the thought of The Big Show with a Singa
pore cane should make everyone afraid.
The participants are now being introduced. First up is CM Punk, followed by Cha
vo Guerrero. Then it's Tommy Dreamer, who was part of the original ECW, has the
most experience. Next is one-half of the SmackDown WWE tag team champions, Joh
n Morrisson. And last but not least, of course, is the heavy (pun intended) fav
orite, The Big Show.
The action starts, and everyone tries to attack The Big Show, who manhandles th
em.
***
Ugh, close up of Big Show's cut over his left eye.
***
A bloody Big Show choke slams Tommy Dreamer, hits him with the Singapore cane a
nd pins him (well, OK, puts one foot on the chest of the unconscious Dreamer) f
or the win.
It's going to be The Big Show vs Kane, who is shown backstage smiling as he wat
ches the results on TV.
Winner: The Big Show
***
Todd Grisham is interviewing WWE chairman Vince McMahon, who had announced on l
ast week's Raw that he was giving away $1 million
"McMahon's Million-Dollar Mania. Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it," McMahon sa
ys.
Grisham asks him what people have to do to get the million dollars, and McMahon
says he'll announce the details on Raw. He also says he knows what Grisham is
thinking, but sorry, WWE employees are disqualified from the million-dollar giv
eaway.
***
Now it's one of my least-favorite wrestlers, JBL, who enters the ring for his F
irst Blood match against John Cena, who I'm not too fond of either but who at l
east can be exciting.
Haha, one sign a fan is holding up says, "Just Bleed, Loser."
Now Cena has entered the ring.
Ho-hum, Cena vs JBL is getting boring.
***
As the name tells you, the first wrestler who bleeds will lose the match. If I'
m not mistaken, the first First Blood match was the one between Stone Cold Stev
e Austin and Kane for the championship; at least, that was the first First Bloo
d match I saw.
You have to think that it's hard to script a First Blood match, 'coz what if a
wrestler starts bleeding by accident before the scripted ending of the match, a
nd the one who was supposed to win bleeds first? That's supposedly what happene
d in the First Blood match between Austin and Kane. Austin wasn't supposed to l
ose, but he bled legitimately. Which would explain why he immediately regained
the title from Kane on the Raw episode that followed that pay-per-view.
Oh yeah, and Cena and JBL are still trying to beat the crap out of each other i
n this match. No cuts yet, heh :)
***
Cena slams JBL face first on a steel chair lying on the ring.
"No blood! No blood!" the ref yells after checking JBL.
Damn.
***
JBL brought the chain, but Cena was the one who used it on JBL. Blood pours out
of the mouth of JBL.
JBL bleeds! Cena wins!
Winner: John Cena
***
Randy Orton is talking to Batista backstage. "Why the hostility?" Orton asks Ba
tista, reminding him of their time as members of Evolution.
Orton talks about the upcoming draft and how they could end up in the same bran
d. He asks Batista to join up with him, saying they can be bigger than DX. Bati
sta's not buying it.
***
Hell, yeah, The Glamazon, Beth Phoenix, has made her entrance for her I Quit ma
tch with Melina.
It's the first ever I Quit Match involving the Divas, JR helpfully informs us.
Now Melina is making her way to the ring. Still one of the most exciting Diva e
ntrances, heh. Stop drooling, King :)
***
Boy, The Glamazon is pretty strong, isn't she?
***
"You've got to keep it clean now," the ref tells the Divas.
Um, hello, ref? Extreme Rules? No DQ? I Quit match?
***
Wow, Melina is trying to make Beth Phoenix tap out with an armbar submission.
***
"How strong is Beth Phoenix?" Lawler asks.
Well, she just broke the submission hold by lifting Melina and slamming her wit
h a running power bomb!
***
Yes, Melina finally quits! The Glamazon wins! But Melina sure has improved as a
n in-ring wrestler. Props to her. But nobody messes with my fave The Glamazon h
eh :)
Winner: Beth Phoenix
***
The Stretcher match between Batista and Shawn Michaels is up next.
***
HBK Shawn Michaels makes his entrance.
***
Michael Cole reminds viewers this feud started because Michaels' retired Batist
a's mentor and idol Ric Flair at WrestleMania.
Batista makes his entrance.
The match starts.
***
Mick Foley comments that one Sweet Chin Music from Michaels may not be enough t
o put Batista in a stretcher. He says a second or third kick might be needed.
***
Michael Cole says Batista's clothesline has "literally turned Michaels inside o
ut." Um, it would be really horrific if that literally happened, Cole
:)
***
HBK tunes up the band for Sweet Chin Music, but instead runs into a Batista clo
thesline.
***
Batista is dazed by a superkick from Michaels and he falls into the stretcher,
but HBK can't capitalize immediately. HBK stirs and is now trying to drag the s
tretcher with Batista on it to the finish line.
Batista is now off the stretcher.
***
Batista hits the Spear, and now a Batista Bomb!
***
Batista is now using one hand to drag Michaels to the stretcher.
Chris Jericho has come out and is now willing Michaels on, trying to inspire hi
m.
***
Batista and Michaels are now back inside the ring. Maybe Batista wants to puni
sh him some more.
***
Batista echoes the words Michaels used when he said "I love you. I'm sorry" to
Ric Flair in the waning moments of their WrestleMania match before HBK finished
him off with a Superkick -- except Batista says "I don't love you. I'm not sor
ry" and punishes HBK with a second Batista Bomb.
***
Batista lifts Michaels and slams him against the steel steps. Then he places HB
K in the stretcher and pushes it across the finish line.
The Animal wins!
Winner: Batista
***
Oh yeah, I haven't seen this in a while -- Randy Orton vs Triple H for
the WWE Championship.
Damn, we've seen this several times in a row, along with the match that will co
me after this, Edge vs The Undertaker for the WWE World Heavyweight Championshi
p.
Anyway, Orton makes his entrance for his Last Man Standing match against Triple
H. That reminds me, I still like his old ring entrance music better.
***
Triple H a.k.a. The Game a.k.a. The King of Kings a.k.a. The Cerebral Assassin
a.k.a. Vince McMahon's son-in-law in real life heh :) makes his entrance.
Triple H is a 12-time WWE champion.
***
Is it hoping against hope to think Orton will win this Last Man Standing match?
Triple H is doing a number on Orton's left shoulder.
***
Triple H beats the ref's 10 count, after Orton drilled him with a DDT against t
he announcer's table.
***
Orton and Triple H are back inside the ring. Orton drives a knee right to the s
ternum of Triple H.
***
Orton is supposedly telling the ref he has a broken collarbone, according to La
wler.
Triple H hits him with a sledgehammer.
"The Age of Orton is on life support," JR says.
***
Orton can't beat the 10 count. The sledgehammer did it. Triple H wins. Again.
Winner: Triple H
***
I'm still rooting for Edge against The Undertaker, but again, I think it's hopi
ng against hope. WWE has been more concerned for some time now with helping the
veterans secure their legacies, rather than letting the young guns hold on to
the championship.
Of course, I'm biased heh :) If Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Rock actually re
turned to the ring, I'd want them to be champs again. But with Austin's injurie
s and The Rock's Hollywood career, that's unlikely.
***
Yup, the last One Night Stand match is, in the words of SmackDown general manag
er Vickie Guerrero, the most extreme championship match in history.
It's a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match for the vacant World Heavyweight Champi
onship. Edge, of course, is the TLC specialist, and The Deadman has never been
in a TLC match.
Yeah, like that matters. Because one of the stipulations in this TLC match is t
hat The Undertaker will leave the WWE if he loses.
Do you really see The Undertaker's career ending in a PPV like One Night Stand?
One Night Stand isn't exactly WrestleMania or one of the bigger PPVs like Royal
Rumble or Survivor Series.
***
Edge makes his entrance.
The Undertaker makes his entrance. Michael Cole reminds viewers that The Undert
aker is the only champion in the history of WWE to be stripped of his champions
hip.
***
The match starts.
Foley and Cole keep reminding the viewers that The Undertaker's career is on th
e line. Foley says that, like the Stretcher match, you have to wear your oppone
nt down and put him away before you try to climb the ladder.
He added that another similarity is that, just as you can use the stretcher as
a weapon, the ladder comes in pretty handy for beating up your opponent :)
***
We've seen the chairs. We've seen the ladders. Now Edge is bringing out the tab
les heh :)
***
Holy... Edge just did a Frog Splash off the announcer's table onto The Undertak
er, who was lying on a table, breaking the table in half!
***
"How do you climb the ladder without a knee?" That's Cole's question as Edge pl
aces The Undertaker's knee between a ladder and keeps hitting it with a steel c
hair.
***
The Undertaker just took two chair shots to the head. The Undertaker is motionl
ess. Edge is about to hit him with a third, but The Undertaker hits him with a
low blow.
Edge lands outside the ring after hitting the ladder. The Undertaker is about t
o climb the ladder in the middle of the ring, but Edgeheads/La Familia members
Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder attack The Deadman.
***
The Undertaker may have beaten up the Edgeheads, but the distraction may have b
een enough as Edge hits the Spear.
***
Edge is now climbing the ladder. The Undertaker limps inside the ring.
***
Edge has his hands on the title. The Undertaker climbs and catches him. Then he
does the Last Ride from the ladder, driving Edge through two tables stacked on
top of the other!
***
The Undertaker is about to grab the title, but La Familia members Chavo Guerrer
o and Bam Neely attack him. He wipes the floor with them.
The Undertaker, on one good leg, is climbing the ladder again.
***
Edge pushes the ladder, and The Undertaker lands outside the ring, crashing thr
ough four tables!
***
The Undertaker is out. Edge is now climbing the ladder.
***
I don't believe it! Edge grabs the title. Edge wins! He's the World Heavyweight
Champion again!
Winner: Edge
***
I still can't believe it. Foley and Cole talk about the end of The Undertaker's
career.
***
La Familia -- Edge, Vicki Guerrero, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, Chavo Guerrero
and Bam Neely -- celebrates and goes backstage.
The Undertaker is getting up from the floor. The fans are cheering him.
***
The arena goes dark as The Undertaker limps his way up the ramp with the fans c
heering him.
"The career of The Undertaker is dead, but his legacy will live forever," Micha
el Cole says.
