American Idol Watch: Adam Lambert

- American Idol -

Are we looking at another “David Cook” in the making in Season 8’s American Idol?

In his performance of Michael Jackson’s Black or White, Adam Lambert unraveled the “whole package” which indeed impressed Paula Abdul. She even predicted that this young singer–who can really hit the high notes–would be “running all the way to the top.”

What do you think?

‘Girl power’ in new season of American Idol

- Entertainment (general), American Idol, Kara Dioguardi -

Let’s admit it. Kara Dioguardi is hot. ;-) But we digress.

Her addition to the new season of American Idol has indeed spiced up the panel of judges, composed of Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul. Now you have two women that can balance out opinions of men.

It is now clear that Kara and Simon will be in loggerheads. Both have strong personalities. Also, both have an interesting bio, which explains the differences in opinion. As one aspiring AI pointed out during the auditions in San Francisco, the smug Cowell has provided this reality show its brutal honesty. (Sometimes, some people really need to be told that they don’t have a tinge of singing talent, heh).  But with Dioguardi around, perhaps we can expect more fireworks from the panel of judges. Weeee.

‘American Idol 7′ finale: A David face-off

- Television, American Idol -

DAVID is going to be the next American Idol.

I know, I know, I’m fence sitting. Cook or Archuleta? That I do not know yet, but I’m almost sure it’s going to be a David face-off at the Nokia Theatre two weeks from now.

This year’s “American Idol” has been a mix of pure musical genius, acquired taste and huge fan bases. We’ve seen the likes of Carly Smithson and Michael Johns, who are both really good singers but probably didn’t have that much charisma or personality to sustain them in the competition. We’ve seen Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White outlast better singers like, say, Ramielle Malubay, and we wonder how many people from their hometowns are burning the lines just to make them stay in the competition.

‘American Idol’ Season 7 on QTV

- Television, Entertainment (general), American Idol -

By Abigail Kwok

GET ready for another season of Americans and their attempt at three minutes of fame, ultra-powered belting, snide remarks from the judges, and of course… Simon Cowell.

On Jan. 16, QTV (surprise, surprise!) will be airing the seventh season of the highly syndicated singing competition, “American Idol,” at 6 p.m. This came as a surprise for some of the “Idol” fans here as past “AI” seasons were aired on ABC 5. This was probably a result of “Pinoy Idol” moving to GMA 7 after talks with FreemantleMedia, developer of the popular series.

During the first few episodes, viewers will be treated to state-wide auditions (admittedly the most entertaining and interesting part of the series). Those who pass the auditions will then be trimmed to 24, where they will be singing every week and every week there will be eliminations. When the number of contestants reaches 12, the competition begins to quicken its pace.
