I disagree with the results of this survey, or at least the how it was done. There is not enough clear links connecting President Arroyo to those corruption stories alleged to have happened everywhere during her administration. The survey should have been done on the husbands and wives of presidents. Or, on the cabinet officials serving the presidents. It is bad imputing the sins of husband to be the sins of wife. Or the sins of the minnions for that matter. Unfair.

for me its Arroyo are the most corrupt,why? because during the time of marcos,though he was tagged as a dictator but he had done with a lot of project which everybody benefited such as the HEART CENTRE,KIDNEY INSTITUTES,PICC,THE SAN JUANICO BRDG.ECT.whereas peole still appreciated what marcos had done while he was a dictator in palace,wherein Arroyo harap-harapan ng ginagago ang taung bayan,at nag pagago din tong mga tongresman, natin mismo sa palasyo,we dont know that its our money was given to the tongresman…what about the Fertilizer scam how much money did Arroyo pocketed on it?how much money did the FG pocketed when the New Airport terminal was done?Did Arroyo made a project thet everybody will benefit? poor people deserves something from the govt such as providing a free medical support to the elderly,the old sick people should be spare from paying bills in the hospital.coz its should be the govt responsibilities.we know that kahit sino pa man ilagay natin jan sa malacanang wala ring pagbabago ang pinas.pero kahit papano naman sana,hwag nama yang masyadong lantaran ang pag ka corrupt.

The “survey”make Marcos proud of what he did to the country, afterall he is not the worst according to our “kababayan”,happened to be in this survey.

There must be something wrong with the people who participated in this survey..in the case of marcos,the govt was able to recover hundred of millions of dollars from a swiss bank attributed to his foundations, $35 M from a merril lynch account, several millions from an account in a singapore bank plus billions of pesos from sequestered properties…estrada was convicted of plunder because of the undeniable material evidence presented during the trial…has there been any evidence showing that Gloria has acquired enormous personal wealth???as far as I knew, there’s a lot of allegations but they remain as such…perception is very far from reality

What is the use of this survey and this blog? You won’t know who actually is the most corrupt just by asking people’s opinions. And if you are asking their opinions have you considered other factors such as age? I see you have divided them into classes but did this survey consider if those people were even alive at those times or even aware if they were corrupt presidents. It would be better if you display and give us the figures of alleged money that they may have amassed during their term otherwise, just remove this blog.

The Pulse Asia Survey is misleading and is full of bull****. The survey is not indicative to the sentiment of all the filipino people. Does this represent the 80 million filipino people? Sure, it would not. I suggest that Pulse Asia stop this nonsense. These are just the product and the imagination of those against the present administration. This will lead us to nowhere.
I am just wondring why that instead of uniting for a better Philippines, these group of assholes wants our country to go chaos. All of you will have a chance to vote for a new leader in 2010. From there on let us see where it will lead us outright.

Why is this current administration always being compared to the Marcos regime? If these allegations of corruption (more like baseless accusations) are are actually true, then at least we can still see the upward trend of the economy today, unlike during Marcos’ time.

Marcos brought the economy down, due to severe corruption, and because of the severity, succeeding administrations faced difficulty reviving our country. It is only now that our country has again become one of the top performers in the region. But people have to understand that the effects of a growing economy cannot be felt instantaneously. We have to take steps one at a time. One example of this is our still-ongoing payment of debts incurred by previous administrations.

Anyway, I wouldn’t believe much in the results of these surveys. Most people nowadays would blame everything on the government, while totally ignoring their own lack of effort in trying to better their lives. The government is not instituted to follow the whims and wants of each and everyone of this country’s citizens, and nor should the citizenry expect everything to be handed to them by the government.

The limits of our democracy is being tested by the real corrupt politicians and other people who have nothing else better to do than make noise, bicker, and I don’t know… probably hijack a 5-star hotel in the center of Makati and proclaim themselves heroes while they themselves ignore the rights and welfare of people they inconvenience? Utterly stupid…

We middle-income wage-earners who work our asses off for eight hours everyday would very much like to come to work without as much disruption as possible. It’s enough for 20% of our miniscule salaries to be passed of as tax, but to see politicians and other lazy people do nothing but criticize this government for their own misfortunes… Very disappointing… Try doing your jobs! Or rather, try working! So in the end, you wouldn’t have to blame somebody else for your own shortcomings.

Corruption is very high in Gloria’s term not because of high expectation but primarily because of the cover-ups she and her allies are making. The use of E.O. 464 is one and I could state more than 20 other anomalies she or her administration is involved or where cover-ups has taken place. No it is not expectation, it is because of her obvious ways to protect herself and her allies from an independent investigation.

All you have to observe is how her minions in Congress quashed investigations of the P 500,00 pocket bribery money to local officials and Congressmen. We could even begin from the quashing of investigation of the “Hello Garci” scandal up followed by successions of scandals which enable her to reach the status of Pinoy Big Briber. There are more but I would not spoon-feed, it is easy enough to research.

I do not think the survey is wrong. We are talking of perception here. And there seems to be some truth in it. What I really find interesting is that people are quite straight forward in identifying Cory as least corrupt. However, they do not quite agree as how to judge FVR. It is interesting that Marcos and GMA are perceived to be most corrupt. It says a lot about the general sentiments of the population. Sins of husband or wife, is there such a thing? Come, on!

It’s quite difficult to tell who’s more corrupt because the Pulse Asia survey is statistically unreliable since they interviewed only 1,200 respondents considering the fact that the total population of our country is around 88,000,000. I’m not certain of the motives for conducting the survey but I think it is highly unfair, biased. Possibly it is being done just to discredit and sow more hatred to GMA.

This survey is a farce and it is actually commissioned by Sen. Sergio Osmena of the opposition. How can you compare Marcos with Arroyo? Marcos stole close to 20 Billion USD and it was proven to be stashed in foreign banks. All they have against Arroyo are just allegations. The survey firms are going to lose their credibility if they continue to let themselves used by the opposition unless they themselves are part of the opposition.

if she only allows her minions to attend all investigations in the senate the result would be different. but since she stonewalled all investigations, the perception of the people is that all allegations of corruptions, cheatings, stealings, bribings (what else ?) are true. so malacanang should therefore not blame the surveys but blame itself.

Miriam Santiago, yesterday vowed to unmask the alleged “culprit” behind the latest Pulse Asia survey that dared to make public the unfavorable results of its poll on who among the Philippine presidents earned the tag as the most corrupt.

She also reportedly threatened to have survey firms probed, as the senator claimed that they never conduct surveys unless they are paid for and financed by certain personalities.

Santiago said she is bent on filing a resolution today to investigate not only the particular survey firm but all major survey firms that have their results published in the media

Perhaps its time to refresh the list on why she, Gloria, and/or her administration are deemed not only to be the most corrupt but also either involved, part of, or unable to resolve the following:

1. Involved in trying to destroy our democracy through numerous Executive Orders like E.O. 464. and E.O. 1017

2. Part of those who wish to ram Cha-cha down our throats

Some people think that a little hardship felt means the government is not doing it’s job of protecting the people’s interests. And for people like us, it’s to WORK so that in a little way, we can somehow help this country. The problem with people is that instead of at least TRYING to help themselves, they gripe about others not trying to help them! Oh come on! Get jobs! Work! And stop complaining! And if I might add, the reason why movements to oust GMA has failed, is because people would rather work and be productive! What to suggest to Sec. Teves? Hmm, should I respond?…

I used to contribute constructive suggestions to government, however later it gets lost in the translation because they use my ideas (which I do not mind just as long as it helps my countrymen) but when they get the budget, the projects either do not appear or get watered down so much as it ceases to be effective.

To reiterate one of my suggestions and encapsulate it in brief:

One of the problems we have is this, in cities the prices of food products is too high for consumers while in the provinces it is being bought from farmers at a very low price.

The reason? Poor storage and refrigeration facilities, and too many middlemen on the side of the farmer while too few direct outlets and refrigeration storage facilities in the cities.

The difference was so high before that for example the purchase price of watermelon’s years ago was at P 3.00/ kilo while in the cities it was sold at P 40/ kilo at retail. There were also instances that there is a glut in products like squash for example and they rotted in the farms while in the cities it was sold at the regular retail price with no change.

What then is the result, due to failed crops some farms went bankrupt and the farmer goes to the towns and cities to get the odd job, and further increasing the already horrendous population of city centers.

So what is the problem? The lack of efficient system of transport, storage, refrigeration, preservation, processing and direct distribution for food items. The inefficiency is so high that there are times that vegetables and other harvested food products lie wasted rotting in the fields while the poor and destitute in cities lay in their rotting clothes begging for money.

It is the inefficient use of money and lack of priority to the things that matter which is the main reason why there is a great discrepancy between rich and poor.

Those who benefit from the economy do so because of their education and skills and what they buy are items which are totally unrelated to what our citizens produce. Farmers produce food, while the new rich purchase new cellphone and buy concert tickets of foreign singers.

The money then does not go to those who need them. They go to items which the new rich purchase. Items that are imported rather than locally produced.

This is the sad reason why the supposed economic growth are not felt by the majority of the people, the rest have little or no participation in the economic growth system at its CURRENT FORM.

This is just an eye opener Abbygail, if I continue it will already be a dissertation. But to cut it short, the most vital thing needed to have a better percentage of people benefiting from a supposed growing economy is that economy must be designed to SERVE the people. The system must be designed so that the great majority of the Filipino can interact to produce and serve in the economy.

Another thing, corrupt practices must cease since this is a cancer which prevents efficient governance and the right people in position. We do not need a** kissers and toadies in government, we need bright moral public servants who love the people more, not their personal self interest.

Finally, and a more practical tip. They must promote the ease of access of E-commerce and E-bay banking transactions with little or no interference from government. If we want to sell our products abroad, it should be between the Filipino producer directly transacting with a foreign buyer; no one else. The Filipino can then earn from abroad while selling the produce which he made from his very own hands.

Government should not tax the Filipino E-trader for this, since the money earned by the E-trader would go back and circulate in the Philippines anyway! (When I say E-trader this means those who sell odd and ends items fabricated and sold to E-bay or other similar auction sites)

It is time to make the regular Filipino people rich; NOT make the government, their administrators and the influential big business rich.

I disagree with the results of this survey, or at least the how it was done. There is not enough clear links connecting President Arroyo to those corruption stories alleged to have happened everywhere during her administration. The survey should have been done on the husbands and wives of presidents. Or, on the cabinet officials serving the presidents. It is bad imputing the sins of husband to be the sins of wife. Or the sins of the minnions for that matter. Unfair.
