On YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. you can view my recent Explainer show where former NEDA Chief Cielo Habito presented his views on the economy and prospects for the remainder of the year.
You can also view the following, below: first, the presentation he used on my show; the more comprehensive presentation on which it was based, which he presented at the Philippine Daily Inquirer. And after that, his presentation last year, and also, one by DLSU economist Dr. Michael Alba, from three years ago.

Is there any original economic thought at all coming from Habito or Alba or any of our economists? It seems all the economists do is to use the textbooks of overseas economists and use them to describe how poor we are. They are descriptive economists, very good at describing. Is there any original prescription coming from economists? We have tasted all their policies for the last 50 years, and there is no hope in sight in the next 10 or 20 years for this country. We will still be a Third World country 20 years from now, doing the dirty work such as call center work, or EPZA low wage assembly work for First World countries. Foreign investors come to us to exploit our low wages. What if we charge high for our services and let the foreigners come to us for our intellectual capital not for our low-wage muscles? Any original thoughts out there?
No Asian country has achieved economic progress and development under a western style democracy. We must define the right system of government for the Philippines -- not DEMOcracy, but DEOcracy, a God-centered country with Jesus as our paramount leader. Neither capitalism or communism but communalism, where the haves share and care for the have-nots, just like how the early Christians lived. We must reverse the path laid out by Quezon for a "nation run like heaven by Filipinos" into one "run like heaven by Filipinos". Rizal exposed the "Social Cancer" in Noli Me Tangere and lamented the "Reign of Greed" in El Filibusterisimo. We must find the "Social Cure" and build the "Reign of God".
Good ideas, thanks for putting this on your blog.
