he’s one of the best lawmakers of the philippines. brilliant mind, courageous, with integrity. for instance, his performance at the impeachment was a masterpiece.

i’ve always thought that the first duty of a congressman and a senator is legislation. some measure our lawmakers in terms of “projects”. development projects are more a concern of mayors, governors. a lawmaker looks at legislation issues that can help improve business, education, justice, etc.

He’s number one on my list. So far proven to be the best among all the senatorial bets. He’s a remarkable professional senator who doesn’t play “mudslinging” that often characterized out Philippine politics. Actually, I want him to run for Presidency. I think if he does (and wins) he’ll be the greatest president this country(Philippines) has ever had.

joker arroyo does not know me personally nor does i. but i believe in his integrity. in the last senatorial election i went to their team’s headquarter to ask for his posters so i could hire people to post them. however he has no poster available and they gave me his stickers instead. so i posted it in the gates of the houses in our subdivision.

i want to know where to get his posters or stickers or whatever so i can campaign for him in my insignificant way? i campaign for him to all people i talk to.

Sen. Joker Arroyo is in my book. He is miles away ahead of three Grand alliance of Genuine Opposition (G.A.G.O) congressmen who are running but nothing to show for all their worth except that they belong to political families trying to perpetuate their dynasty till kingdom come. And that is no joke!!!

History tells us that we have the birghtest lawyers/politicians both in our congress and senate. the start reality is the despite the brilliance of these lawyer, we remain the Ailing (Sick) man of Asia in terms Justice, Poverty and the so called FREEDOM of speech.

I once believed that Joker, should he be given a chance to become one, he would become a worthy and intelligent President.
But after having aligned himself with the TU whose patron is GMA, I lose my trust and respect in him. Remember how he fought all the excesses of the administration of GMA regarding the Cha-Cha case, the EO 464, the Fertilizer Scam and the Garci scam. And all of a sudden because he wanted to get re-elected, he swallowed his pride & conviction and join TU and having his hands raised by the very same person he fought against. By doing so, I find Joker a trapo, no less. I admire Pangilinan because he stood to what he believed is right. In Joker’s case, when he fought GMA, he knew he was right. In this election, joining TU is the right decision (for him) because his only reason is to win. Forget about conviction. It doesn’t seem fit for hiim to use “Pag Bad ka, Lagot ka”. Does it mean that GMA was not bad with all the excesses mentioned above? Or pikit-mata ka lang basta manalo? You’re such a waste!!!

He is also no. 1 in my list. I believe in him. I think he is one of the very few who is not corrupt and who truly wants to server.

Let me just summarize the damages brought by the Marcos regime in our country of which I discussed extensively in my previous post under ‘Make Your Voices Heard’:
1. Disunity because now we are free to voice our opinions unlike during the Marcos era
2. Constitutional amendments done during the Aquino regime which gave rise to incompetent leaders
These hamper the economic growth of the country. Just allow the President to continue her term and let our economy improve for I believe she is capable of handling it. If we can rise out of poverty, then we can be well educated.
You may consider this post too late but my sole purpose is for the maturity of our voters so that come election time these points are considered in truly making wise judgments in the next election.

I voted for him last 2001 and he was elected on his slogan “ubusin ang mga corrupt” I don’t think he accomplished that goal and it become worse because he is too selective on whom to apply his slogan, (pag kakampi ok lang). And since his winning is imminent perhaps what he should do is apply his objective on whomsoever that corrupted our government, to clear our society of corruption once and for all not withstanding with political affiliation, so long as he do what is right and for the best of filipino people, to upgrade the living of every people by giving education for all, in that way we can address the poverty of the people and start to live with dignity as a people, build business, enterprise, and deal with the rich and famous businessman of our country to join hands in uplifting the lives of all the people and the society as well, and having a platform to have all the overseas workers come home and start to build our country that is free of corruption. We can achieve change if we will have a good leader that is of free mind, not beholden to anybody, to politician, military, businessman, and if he do this our countrymen will rally behind him and that is the best support that he can ever have. Good luck Mr. Senator and we’re counting on you!!!

Sen. Joker Arroyo lashed out at opposition Sen. Panfilo Lacson Sunday for reviving the issue of the Jose Pidal accounts in an obvious bid to grab the chairmanship of the Senate Blue Ribbon committee, which conducted the inquiry into the controversial issue about three years ago.

Arroyo and Lacson are headed for a showdown in the 14th Congress because Lacson expressed keen interest in the chairmanship of the Blue Ribbon committee held by the older senator, Senate observers said.

“Senator Lacson talks through his hat when he says he wants closure in the Jose Pidal case. Of course, there has been closure, albeit caused by himself – by his own failure and inaction. He botched it, plain and simple,” said Arroyo.

Arroyo broke his silence on the issue after Lacson insinuated in various public interviews after the May 14 elections that Arroyo sat on the case. He also surmised that Lacson’s public statements may be fueled by his “lust” for the committee chairmanship.

He earlier said he is not interested in getting the Blue Ribbon committee back in the next Congress.

The committee had ruled on Oct. 12, 2003 that it “would await the presentation by (Lacson) of proof of illegal and not merely improper, of criminal and not merely salacious, conduct that can be traced to the First Gentleman,” Arroyo said.

The ruling was signed by the majority of committee members and filed before the plenary.

Arroyo said Lacson failed to produce a court order – as shown in the committee report – that would empower the Senate to look into the Jose Pidal accounts covered by the Bank Secrecy Law.

“That was way back in 2003 – in the 12th Congress. The 13th Congress will soon lapse in two weeks, and we would witness the onset of the 14th Congress. Senator Lacson has yet to get a court order as the law requires and as the committee impressed upon him,” Arroyo said. “Lacson lusts after the Blue Ribbon committee chair. He can have it.”

Shortly after the May 14 elections, in which he won a fresh mandate under the Genuine Opposition’s (GO) banner, Lacson expressed keen interest in heading the Blue Ribbon committee once the 14th Congress convenes on July 23.

Arroyo stated in a strongly-worded statement sent to The STAR Sunday that Lacson’s failure to get a court order prevented the Senate from going a step further and look into the bank records of Jose Pidal.

In its 2003 ruling, the committee said the Senate “cannot just inquire into the bank accounts of a private individual merely because a senator makes a public issue of him in a privilege speech and a congressional inquiry is constituted to satisfy what one might better describe as a public curiosity rather than public interest.”

Arroyo also said the Bank Secrecy Law, as passed in 1955, does not empower congressional committees to examine bank deposits without “the invocation of the judicial process.” The law limits such ability to a select number of institutions and situations, one of which is Congress, when trying an impeachment case.

Faced with the risk of being sanctioned by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), Arroyo said the committee pointed out that even the provisions of the newly enacted Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) do not grant Congress the power to examine bank accounts without proper court orders.

“In February of (2003), the Senate debated the amendments to the AMLA. The Senate voted down, by a vote of 12-8-1 the attempt to relax the restrictions on the opening of bank deposits without a court order,” Arroyo said, quoting portions of his committee report. As such, Arroyo noted that a majority of senators were apprehensive that the power to examine bank deposits without a court order can be used as “an instrument of political persecution.”

i don’t much about joker’s accomplishment except his good performance during estrada’s empeachment case.

but regarding the JOSE PIDAL case, it was clear that PING LACSON merely used the issue for political grandstanding. LACSON talks too much in TVs and he is good in talking.. there was no substance on the issue and no evidence presented.

Senator Arroyo has earned the title of the “most thrifty/frugal legislator in the Philippines”. He never traveled abroad on government money. His Statement of Assets and Liabilities has remained almost unchanged from the time he entered public service in 1986.

it is unfortunate (or fortunate?) for joker to be an arroyo. otherwise he is far far better than Lacson who is dying for the presidency. right now the patron of hate politics is bitter for not getting the blue ribbon chair. i guess a pink ribbon is better for him. joker might not be best president the country can have, but from among the current corrupt i mean crop of leaders i think he is most qualified. the irony in country is the bulk of “boughters” come from the least educated and non-tax paying masa.
