It’s not easy and simple to put the blame solely on the government (read the Arroyo administration) when all elected officials from way back, even as recent as 2004 are also part of the elected government (that is, even those in the opposition). Corruption is imbued in the culture of Filipinos. Where and when money speaks, everybody listens, therefore, there is corruption. The youth has been corrupted (by SK). Barangay executives need to get things running in their turf, and it involves money. And money tempts. From getting a license or a permit whatsoever, there’ll always be someone who would offer to make things easier, for a fee, that is. The opposition says they are against corruption and yet they can’t see through their number 1 benefactor who is in jail for such crime. They lament the way elections are being run in the country and yet, they didn’t bother to author bills to modernize the conduct of elections (because they also see that they will benefit from our erratic system). But when they make noise, they project like they are the saviors of this republic. Media products, that’s what they are. And this one goes to all honorable representatives who are just as noisy but have nothing to show for the money that we the people pay them for: When they were in Congress, their passion is not to make laws but to earn more fame, so that come election time, we remember them not because of what he’s done, but how good he rattles on tv and how appealing he is to our sensitivities against Gloria and that we should elect him to get Gloria out of office!!!! Then we elect another batch of rabble-rousers in Congress, some legislators who are eyeing for 2010 if not earlier when they can get Gloria out. Then we are back to square one. And where is the poor in all this? Still scavenging for other people’s garbage, with nothing to say but, he was used and abused by those who again promised him milk and honey.

There are a few good men who are running, but they might not win. Whether in TU or in GO, some of them did the electorate justice because they did their homework in enacting laws which benefited our people. They did not drag the country (economy to be precise) down, unlike some of them who tried short-circuiting the Constitution. These ones don’t give a damn, for all they care.

Some of us have misplaced concepts about service in the government by assigning loyalty to the official above rather than the people from whom sovereignty resides.
Thus, those in the government are constantly bombarded by their superiors about loyalty to the officers above them, and the institution they are in, but lip service about loyalty to the interest of the people. This, I see, is the clot in the
circulatory system of the Philippine body politic. Like the life sustaining oxygen in the blood, the benefits reaching the
people is only in trickles while the officials are bloated.

I know corruption in government because I was once there until I decided to fight it in a minimal manner, e.g. within my low- rank official capacity (acting Chief Accountant), which resulted to my having been eased out of the service.

Those who get tired of the uphill battle cry against corruption are so well placed in our economic strata that they are disturbed when their capacity to spend for luxuries are lessened resulting from
the likes of what Trillanes did, and is now doing even while in jail! They don’t mind that their “blood cousins” in the grassroots languish in abject deprivation, not only in the luxuries they cannot even dream of, but even in their basic human necessities.

Are we really now in such a level of moral
decadence that we abhor the effort of those who cry foul against corruption?

And I remember this candidate taking unarmed civilians as hostages and human shields at Oakwood. Not such a strong sign of loyalty to democracy, especially since some of the hostages were infants. All his webblogs during the campaign were sanitized of critical remarks. Definitely undemocratic. Had his junta succeeded at Oakwood, it would have been back to dictatorship. So how can anybody in his right state of mind vote for this candidate?

But now, not just me siguro, we’re waiting, we’re holding on to our dearest dollars, until when? I dunno…..think about it….

corruption is the core of poverty. What if we implement a program, same thing as a bounty hunter’s get, P100,000 to a million depends on the case, its a case to case basis. If we reward anybody who can bring and lead to prosecution of anybody who corrupt from the government and reward that person and give him/her a full protection from the law, including the family, a witness protection program. The first thing that could happen is, people who’s doing it or planning to do(corruption that is) they will think twice.Because of the reward and full anybody will be interested to catch them, kahit kamag anak pa siguro. Trillanes is doing pretty good inspite of it all. I agree that its wrong to go up against to whom you pledged loyalty to, like your president, or your high ranking Military officers so called the Generals. The difference with the US and Pinas are the senior officers sa US they know when to step down before an attempt to oust them. Salina, I would agree that the Philippines will never prosper when we have corrupt politicians in the country, like your idol Joseph Estrada, it was very clear that he was laundering money from the country’s coffer but people seems to forget that and is now voting for the same people that is under him. Most of the people might accept their allegations as fact against the present government but they are also as dirty as the people they are accussing,except for the fact that they are disguising themselves to be clean.

Yes, the OFW remittances is what’s keeping our economy alive, there were also OFW during Estrada’s time, why did the peso went down from 25-56 pesos per dollar? Because Estrada does not know the proper economics, he has always been relying on other people to solve the country’s problem while he is enriching himself and tell the masses how he loves them as a guise.

With these, no administration has been clean. The destructive criticism and anger that GO created in this country is slowing us down. Instead, GO should reach out and cooperate. Because of their investigations in aide of legislation they are spending a lot of tax payer’s money to bash the administration when they themself are dirty.

And for Cebu prospering because of Arroyo, it is not as factual as you can see. She has created a lot of projects also in Mindanao and Luzon, apparently it just cannot equal the attention that GO is creating against the her administration. If she has not been hyperactive enough in inviting investors then there should have been no progress in her regime. Unlike Estada who spends his time in the casino.
Opposition just cannot find a fault in her that is why they are going after her husband and relative then to her contituents and then blame her for all the problems in the society. They could have helped if they created laws instead of doing ‘papogi’ with the media.

I am not pro-administration but I am just seeing the totally of everything. The root cause of the problem of the government are the politicians who does not do their job and looks for faults on their enemies while spending the taxpayer’s money. I agree with Trillanes in his view that there should be no communication between the anti graft and corruption agency and the official in question to avoid tampering of evidence and bribery which i think is a common occurrence in Philippine politics. I, however, disagree in his promise to join the bandwagon in impeaching the president if he gets elected in the senate. Why start your service by focusing on chaos and negativity. I understand the president’s credibility is in question but shouldn’t he start his term by focusing more on what needs to be done to help the people? Let the proper agency deal with the other officials crime and he should be looking into programs that are already in place and find out why they do not work in alleviating our day to day issues. The first agenda that the newly elected officials should delve into is to look up the systems in place and find out why we are still categorized as one of the “third world countries”. They should be proactive and focus on finding out the solution instead of spending their energy finding fault from each other.

You’re right honey. But I think Trillanes wont pursue impeachment. He was even asked about it like, ” How could you not, she was the one who throw you in jail?”, and he even praised her for what she is doing with the economy. So I guessed we chose the right man. The fact that the economy is growing is evident enough that the investor have gained its confidence in the country. If all will be going well and expecting that the opposition will not cause any political instability, instead of filing for impeachment they should create laws that will lobby more growth in the economy. There has been a lot of investments in the country just before GMA is begging for them as what she is doing right now. Most investment came from the outsourcing and IT industries.

We cannot have peace unless these politicians will stop blaming GMA for the problems in the society. What are they in their for? They are also mandated by the people to help the president, not add more burden. Now that they are senators, I hope they will legislate rather that create inquiries and investigations to further add the hatred of the people against the present president.

These human rights violations will never be solved unless the witnesses will show up and these party-list group will take part in the solution of the problem. What they are doing instead is going to the media and presenting the casualty counts they have had since GMA’s administration.And what of the church? What are they doing? Philippines is a rich country, it is beautiful, it has all the natural resources that you need to be the next industrialized country. What’s missing is the next leaders. who knows how to cultivate the natural resources of the country, that indeed, includes the people.

The Philippines international foreign reserve is now $25.8 billion dollars. Gloria said in her speech on her recent visit to Australia that OFW’s are not only OFW but overseas filipino investors as well.

Our poor kababayans are now able to buy apples at a cost of 10 pesos each, my own experience. Are’nt you happy they can now afford whereas before it costs 25 pesos each.

Senator-to-be Antonio Trillanes IV of the Genuine Opposition does not disappoint those who trace the mess that this country is in to the illegitimacy of the Arroyo presidency.

Foremost, he never refers to Arroyo as “president”. Just plain Gloria Arroyo.

In his interview last Monday with ABS-CBN’s Ces Drilon, the first after he was granted post-election media access, he said he would work for the impeachment of Gloria Arroyo.

This categorical declaration, at this time when some of the opposition senators-elect are taking a magnanimous attitude towards the Arroyo, has elicited strong reactions.

It’s perfectly okay with me because I believe that no one who was ever elected by the people should hold the presidency. Given the many crimes against the Filipino people that Arroyo has committed, I believe such an undertaking is long overdue.

But I know of others who want a respite from wearying political hostilities. There is also the aspect that he was elected senator (I’m presuming that he will soon be proclaimed senator because he won) who would only be able to participate in an impeachment process if the Senate is convened as an impeachment court. An impeachment complaint is initiated in the House of Representatives.

Ces asked, given that the numbers in the Lower House do not favor of the opposition, would he still pursue his advocacy of Gloria Arroyo’s impeachment?

Trillanes’ reply: “The impeachment advocacy has been my campaign line because I believe that’s the only way for this country to move forward. We have lined up several legislative proposals which require primarily executive action. We can’t possibly expect these policies to be implemented by such a corrupt president. So I’m being straightforward to the people that we can’t do much as long as we have GMA as president.”

He said his winning the senate race despite all the odds – in detention, lack of funds, very few TV ads – was a statement from the people that they want change.

He sees the lack of numbers among the congressmen now as surmountable. He said his senatorial win broke several conventions in Philippine politics. “We have done practically the impossible. It shows it can be done.”

He elaborated how he is going to go about it. “If I can convince people to vote for me, I believe I can also convince congressmen to support impeachment. Or I can convince sectors of society to convince congressmen to support impeachment.”

In a separate interview with DZMM’s Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja yesterday, he expressed the desire to be part of the Blue Ribbon and the Defense committees. I can imagine that through investigation in aid of legislation, he would be able to uncover more impeachable crimes committed by Arroyo.

Trillanes told Ces Drilon that impeaching Arroyo “is the only way to go. And I will keep on delivering that message. We can have change now, outside Gloria and move forward to progress. Or we can tolerate three years of what we have now with Gloria at the helm.”

He pursued the same line in his answer to ANC’s Ricky Carandang, who joined the interview from the studio. Asked about his legislative agenda, Trillanes replied that the legislative agenda he presented to the people necessitates the removal of Arroyo. He cited his anti-corruption position: “You cannot possibly expect and anti-corruption legislation to be implemented by a corrupt president. We have to be real about the situation.”

He said it’s the same thing in the areas of peace and order. He disclosed that he is in the process of conceptualizing a comprehensive Mindanao peace plan that will include conflict resolution, infrastructure development, enhanced economy and social services. “We can’t have this under GMA because GMA is the one responsible for the endless war in Mindanao. She had her chance. For six years, she mismanaged the country and right now, she can’t possibly say anything as regards the Mindanao war because she’s the one who perpetuated it.”

It will be recalled that when Trillanes and some 300 soldiers belonging to the Magdalo staged what is now referred to as the Oakwood mutiny on July 27, 2003, they disclosed the Greenbase documents which exposed the plan of Arroyo and her national security officials to control Mindanao for business interests.

To those who are concerned that he would not be a fair and impartial judge in case of an impeachment trial against Arroyo, he explained that impeachment is a political trial whose end is not criminal conviction but a change in political leadership.

The President is immune against all suits filed in court. The only recourse is the filing of an impeachment case against her in Congress. That was exactly what the opposition did the last two years, only to be stopped cold by the tyranny of numbers in the Lower House. If GMA is really innocent of the charges against her, why don’t her supporters allow the impeachment case to be reach the Senate where GMA shall have her chance to refute all charges hurled against her. Killing the impeachment in the Lower House does not exonerate GMA from all the charges but rather strengthens the public perception that she is guilty of all charges.

That is the reason why Trillanes is still promoting the filing of another impeachment case against GMA. Hopefully, divine intervention will cause our congressmen to allow the case to proceed to the Senate for closure, so that this country can leave this matter behind.

5. gusto mong lagyan ang isang tao para mapunta sa yo ang kontrata ng negosyo. o para mapasok ka sa isang company na gustong gusto mo kaya hanap ka ng backer mo, di ba corruption din yon?

6. gusto mong pumasa sa isang exam na hindi mo naman talaga alam. mag-lalangis ka.

7. how about leakages? isa rin sa corruptions yon.

8. how about obtaining fake papers to go abroad?

People like the bloggers here who are always negative thinkers should know now that Trillanes was already proclaimed as a Senator. Where did they get the insinuation that the Government is moving heaven and earth just not to proclaim Trillanes. So what now Trillanes. You are proclaimed as a Senator. What are going to do now. Shield yourself from being in the Senate just to escape from the crime you committed on the Oakwood Mutiny. Our country has overtaken other asian countries… A strong peso makes imported goods cheaper, encourage spending. Higher spending means higher demand for goods and services which leads to increase in production and the drop of interest rates are due to tax revenue collections. The Philippines international foreign reserve is now $25.8 billion dollars. Gloria said in her speech on her recent visit to Australia that OFW’s are not only OFW but overseas filipino investors as well.

Our poor kababayans are now able to buy apples at a cost of 10 pesos each, my own experience. Are’nt you happy they can now afford whereas before it costs 25 pesos each.

You’re right honey. But I think Trillanes wont pursue impeachment. He was even asked about it like, ” How could you not, she was the one who throw you in jail?”, and he even praised her for what she is doing with the economy. So I guessed we chose the right man. He understand the aftermath, the chain reactions, the undealable process of the law, in short all the bullshit. This man has a vision.
Now to all the supporters of Trillanes don’t feel bad, I think he’s doing the right thing. He’s thinking about the country and the people above all. God bless the Philippines, I will go home if they set him free. I missed my chance with Ninoy I dont wanna miss the next one. God bless, peace out!!!

I hope and pray that someday, my beloved country, will be governed by real Filipinos, not ethnic Chinese, not mistizo Spanish, not up and coming ethnic koreans, but real Filipinops, with brown skin.

I hate to see my country overwhilmed by overstaying aliens, which later on becames citizen. I hate what is happening, in which thousands of foriegners, is diluting our race.

This is one reason that inspite of bright GDP of 6.9%, Filipinos in general, are poor. The wealth of our country is in the hands of ethnic foriegners-turned Filipino.

Our real Filipino Presidents in the past has a tragic endings. Both didn’t finished their terms. President R. Magsaysay had a plane crash, under a mysterious circumstance, and President J. Estrada was directly expelled with the connivance of which majority were ethnic Chinese with Filipino citizenship.

I hope that the real Filipinos will not go the way the ‘Indians’ of America, the native Hawaians, the Eskimos, the ethnic aboriginese of Australia.

The systematic increase, albeit, artificial in nature, of all commodities in the Philippines, is an indication of being Anti-Filipino. The increase in prices is not realistic considering that our neighboring countries has low prices for the same commodities.

It is as if the real Filipinos, who are generally poor, are slowly but surely, will never survive these kind of economic hardship. The EVAT, the value added tax, is another form of being anti-Flipino.
PGMA, who is an ethnic Chinese, has wasted whatever benifit the Filipinos could have derive from these EVAT.

What has she accomplished, travelling to ROME, SPAIN, and then to CHINA, in her recent visit. ‘Nada’! Broadband? Shit!
They can afford to squander the peoples money, but cann’t provide a free anti-rabie vaccine.

I.m still hoping for a nationalitic President. Good luck, Senator Trillanes.
