MANILA, Philippines–The Department of Education (DepEd) is trying to determine whether the allowances for teachers who are working as election officers this Monday will be released by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), an official said.

Ramon Bacani, DepEd undersecretary for regional operations, said that the agency has no direct involvement in the release teachers’ honorarium.
