I AM supposed to be deep in my review for something. But instead, I find myself glued to the tube for the latest election results. And, on the road, my radio is on the AM band.
I’ve never felt so damn involved with any elections and to think I’ve been voting for so long.
I voted 8 from GO, 2 independents and 2 from TU. And hey, only 3 three my candidates didn’t make it to the top 12 — well, as of this moment. Roco seems to be stuck at 15. Zubiri has been making big strides from the late teens and is now actually 13th. But boohoo to Kiram, it would probably take a miracle to get him closer even to 12. I voted for him because I wanted Muslims to have a representation in the Senate; unfortunately my vote fell in the minority.
I read somewhere that Escudero got into the coveted slot because he is a deadringer for Bamboo. Well, if he were, he’d probably be Bamboo after a plastic surgery gone awry. Don’t get me wrong. I am a fan of Chiz but my point is… I don’t like him because of his similarities with Bamboo (hello!). I like Chiz because of his brains. Probably also because he is so articulate. I like guys with spunk and who kick ass. In his case, not just an ordinary ass but the president’s no less. I mean, he led the impeachment trials, right? I bet he would try again once he gets installed in the Senate. Way to go.
I am not a fan of Cayetano. I haven’t forgotten the BW scandal which involved his dad (may he rest in peace). But, I find his plight to nail PGMA admirable. A greenhorn practically raring to slam himself into a concrete wall (figuratively and literally!) And that thing with the other Peter Cayetano. Just plain hilarious!
Later.

there might have been an error in your election map specifically for the province of Camarines Norte and more specifically for the towns of Sta. Elena and San Vicente. I believe that the listed number of voters for these towns have been inadvertently interchanged. i hope this matter be given importance as a lot of us here in Cam. Norte are monitoring the election results online. Thanks very much.

I admire that you thought well before voting. But my biggest concern with the GO candidates is why did they have to run under that slate instead of becoming Independents like what Kiko did? Have they forgotten the very rotten system of the Estrada regime which is more corrupt with the GO banner obviously linked with the Estradas? I fear that once elected, they are beheld by their colleagues..
Sadly, corruption is a given in this country so we are left to choose the lesser of two evils. I’m glad to know of Fr. Panlilio running as an Independent against the quarry king and the jueteng queen. May he win.

Your news ad today is unfair for it makes comparisons among Asian neighbors. Your comparison should be on the different Philippine regimes i.e. end of Marcos regime, end of Aquino regime, end of Ramos regime, end of Estrada regime (definitely a no-brainer). That’s why rallies to remove GMA from power don’t prosper because GMA appears to be the best choice because she’s the only one with the economic mind. If ever FPJ won, then our country could be doomed. With his death, then Noli de Castro will take over (who I think is limited to media knowledge). If GMA did cheat, generally people are ready to forgive for that reason. She made unpopular decisions like the E-Vat but in the long run it would be good for our country. That’s how discipline works, it would be difficult at first, but it becomes easier when you get used to it. The poor who join rallies are generally paid, the rich do not join, so when the middle class join rallies they usually amount to success.
It’s good that opposing views are allowed for that can only mean press freedom. Our country is rated the 2nd most dangerous for journalists after Iraq because of press freedom. So that ranking is another form of misperception.
Corruption would be difficult to address for now because of tradition. But at least we have checks and balance to deal with them.
If fear grips because this administration intends to stay due to Charter Change initiatives, then that can wait when a new administration takes over. The people in general are sick and tired of another impeachment complaint which appears to be the only purpose of the opposition.
I’m making these comments independently to share my views.

Hello, Mind reader. Wow! Atleast you vote to the candidate you want to vote regardless either they’re going to win or not. As for me my entire family vote straight opposition because if tuta ni Gloria wins this election she’ll be in power forever. No way jose! So far so good 12 opposition candidate is in magic 12. I hope and pray that they all wins.
But I won’t be surprise if tuta ni Gloria win for cheating. If that happen I don’t think the filipino people going to take it sitting. And Gloria Arroyo, Knows that this is one of the reason why AFP/PNP is all over the place to make sure they can all control the people who’s going to try going to the street.
And if they can’t control them they’re going to throw them in jail if not they’re going to shot to kill…..As we already witnessing it. These idiots suppose to protect the filipino people but yet they’re only protecting the bugos President of cebu. She throw Capt. Trillanes in jail for the fail coup. But she’s the one sitting in malacanyang palace when she should be in jail for kicken the duly elected President Joseph Estrada. Is there demoracy in the philippines? I think not!

Hi, Pian:
After six years in the office you still think that Gloria Arroyo, Is the best thing happen to the philippines. Ha, Ha. You must be still in the dreamland. Wake-up! before somebody will pick you up in the cabbage patch field. But, I guess its your right to believe what you believe even though Gloria Arroyo, Is the most corrupt there is. And there is solid evidence against her. And the only reason she can get away with it because she control the entire corrupt justice system.
Its true that Gloria Arroyo, Has an economic degree but look where the philippines today. She kick the duly elected President Joseph Estrada, Because she was saying that President Joseph Estrada is plundering the country coffer. But, Look what is happening now the entire Philippines is most corrupted.
Aside from that filipino people are getting kill by her corrupt AFP/PNP and they’re getting away with it because the filipino people letting her get away with anything.

I am very much anxious of the result of the election as canvassed by the Comelec. I am afraid about the result of the counting made by AMA and NAMFREL, what will happen when Comelecs do their counting. I just HOPE AND PRAY,,,,NO CHEATING TO COME!

I really don’t understand why Gregorio Honasan and Antonio Trillanes are winning. The quality of Filipino voters is again a question to ask. The Philippines is going nowhere.

the people deserve whatever comes out of the election - from local officials up to the senators. after the proclamation, i hope they start “nagging” these elected officials to deliver their “promises” and stop blaming pgma for all the quagmire that the country is facing.
allan
Oh, oh, Loren..She continuously said: “Only cheating can prevent me from becoming number one in the senate.” Will she now file an electoral protest against Chiz? And make another “balimbing”?
I really don’t like GMA, but I feel so disgusted by the GO members crying out that they will fight corruption. At the same time they are licking Erap’s feet, one of the most corrupt presidents the Philippines ever had. Hello! I am sure there are so many honest Filipinos out there - why are only few voting for them (because they don’t look like Bamboo?)
ISONG
i love you guys who voted just to make our country , at least, afloat.

Hi daet_resident. Checked the map. The 2007 figures are correct but the 2004 figures they were compared to were indeed transposed (they appear correctly in the 2004 tab). Error’s been fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.

i never understand why people voted for the GO’s. i mean aren’t these people “tuta’s” of Estrada too? if GMA corrupts, cheats, and all… well then it’s high time to realized that ERAP did too. and fact is, ERAP is even worse. it seemed so early for you GO people to forget what ERAP did to Phil. economy. and GMA has so far stabilizes our PESO.
it’s remarkable that in cebu KIKO leads. i guess intelligent voters comes from there.
Pinoy lang na walang gana
hello!!!is this Garci??? i don’t really mind the election at all, “no mas”, naloko na rin ako dati dyan and i’m glad malaya na ako. before nga nangarap pako kumandidato, ngayon pag naiisip ko yon parang kinikilabutan ako at nandidiri sa sarili ko.

Tot: If you really think that Gloria Arroyo, Is better then Erap. I guess you’re one of the people who eat atleast 3xa day.
As about the corruption under Erap, You better do your homework. Because I don’t you know what you’re talking about. I pity you….

to think whose better? gloria or erap?
well, i can’t read minds either but somehow everybody can analyze erap was just framed up. he’s been cornered because he’s of low mentality than gloria was is a magna cum laude in economics! it’s a conspiracy of some businessmen that puts erap down on the list. sad to say, this magna cum did not make a philippine economy strong! in fact, we are still the most corrupt country, we have plenty of laws vs. corruption whose implementation are selective, that is, if the corrupt person is elite, in power or with strong ties, that law is useless. anti-corrupt laws is only for the ignorant especially the poor and underprivileged it can not penetrate the elite.
why hide being corrupt? what’s the point of hiding? we can not and progress forward if we are selective of law implementation. look at our neighbor singapore with strict law implementation, you can see it rise from wasteland, it had become a magnificent city with good strong leadership, with a giant economy. unless the political leadership mend ways, there is no way for the philippines to progress. look at how e-vat is implemented, it’s true, the economy move forward but it had cost it’s toll among the people as the one’s in power (with exemptions) had purchased an overpriced asean lamp posts! it’s not yet the end of corruption, it’s but the tip of the iceberg.

You think Erap was just framed up? By whom, Clarissa Ocampo who staked her life and privacy?

Well, she’s definitely better than FPJ who, apart from his low education (high school graduate), LIED/CHEATED his wife, not only once, but twice. If he could not be faithful to his own wife, how can he be faithful to the promises he made to the country?
