Looking into the news, it seems that TU can’t accept the truth that GO dominates majority of the senate bid in these election period. How could Mrs. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo unite the Filipino people if they themselves (TU) cannot accept the sanctity of the ballots. Basing on their (TU) press releases, that, they got a swift victory both from Visayas and Mindanao; it is only a complete manifestation that “dagdag-bawas” is going to happen in those regions. If the team of the President is not expecting something to happen, that should not be the way they react. I cannot imagine how the government is raping the dignity and democracy of the people! Please “RESPECT” the voice of the majority…!

The process of impeachment can only begin in the House of Representatives, not in the Senate. The Opposition has just lost its two biggest bullhorns in the House and there is no one in sight to take their places. Its a pity that the Anti-GMA crowd doesnt understand this. Escudero and Cayetano’s exit from the House has actually strengthened Malacanang’s hold on the House and thus, guaranteed that an impeachment will never happen. While the Anti-GMA is rejoicing over their victory in the Senate, its safe to say that Gloria is rejoicing in the fact that she is going to finish her term. So who do you really think won this election?

Alan Peter Cayetano is a breath of fresh air in his previous job in Congress. He dared fight against those who attempted to destroy democracy, those who initiate cover-ups and a bane of trapo Congressmen and Congresswomen.

His actions earned him the ire of trapos who hired black propagandists in Philippine government to smear his good name. However the Filipino people are not fooled and the masses and decent Filipinos wholeheartedly support him, even with COMELEC’s and Arroyo administration’s attempt to destroy his chances in winning the Senatorial seat. I seriously wonder how lionofjudah got to the conclusion that God is with us at any point. Haven’t we killed God yet with our false reverence? Do we not kill the idea of God by the mere fact that we think God is with us, and so we depend too much on providence at a minimum or turn to fundamentalism at our worst?

The very reason why this country (I could say the same the same thing of the world in general) is like this is because we do not realize that the it is so ironic to call ourselves Christians when the “last Christian died on the Cross” (Nietszche). The same goes for every other religion, being human we all have a general and universal idea of good that is equally denied by our day to day actions and false beliefs. Which is why our politics will always have things such as this, people like Cayetano as his critics portray him and his critics as his supporters see them, because we have traded the Carpenter’s work for kings’ robes or glorified misfortune and poverty so as to give way to the Regime of Tragedy trampling over the idea of agency.

Cayetano has no shame. At the start of the campaign, he denied that his family was building a dynasty. Then why is his wife running for the congressional position he vacated?

The vandalisms were done by an unregistered Wikipedia user (instead of a user name, they appear as an IP address on the article’s “History” records). This isn’t unique to the Alan Peter Cayetano article but happens on other articles as well. To be honest, the vandalized Alan Peter Cayetano was “mild” compared to other articles…there are far worse examples, and some articles are bait for people who have nothing else to do but deface Wikipedia articles (but I won’t mention specific examples to pre-empt would-be vandals…suffice it to say that people on the news are frequent vandal targets.)

Fortunately, most vandalisms on Wikipedia can and will be reverted or deleted (you yourself can do this even if you have not registered a Wikipedia account), especially if the page is being placed on a registered user’s watchlist. I myself have the Alan Peter Cayetano article on my watchlist, as well as that of the other candidates for senator.

Content disputes and biased articles are a different matter, though….

We all have the responsibility to educate our electorate regarding people who are users like alan cayetano and francis escudero. they are good at fooling our people by using their being “matapang” effect to give false hope to them. nene pementel, koko pementel, loren legarda, jambi madrigal, abegail binay are people who also belong to this species.

Alan Cayetano, is a big FRAUD. He started a big fuss over FG but can’t prove it. It’s simple he did it before the election for his own interest, THE MEDIA. So that he can have a free advertisement. yes being Pro-GO does not mean supporting ERAP. ok naman ibang taga GO like Villar and Lacson. hindi ko sila binoto but I am not sad that they are poised to win. I know that Marcos is a dictator and I am not defending him here. If you want to read the Senate Journal during the time of Marcos (You can read it in 4th or 5th floor of the National Library), Ninoy are not doing anything but keep on attacking Marcos, same with Alan Peter. They are doing those things for their own interest. I am not saying that Marcos is good or Marcos did not robbed the people or Marcos did not kill many people. What I am saying here is that if you attack you should have pieces of evidence to prove your allegations or at least you should have done something for your constituents who voted you.

I am happy that the GO senatorial candidates won in this election. It only means that the country will not experience peace and stability and the economy will suffer. The peso will again depreciate and return to the rate of 56 pesos to a dollar. This will benefit the millions of OFWs and their dependents. I am looking forward to an impeachement filed against the President at the first day opening of Congress. Yehey!

What I’m saying is that since we have a very free media now unlike during the Marcos era, he could’ve just given the evidence to the media and leave it to them to investigate (we have the PCIJ). As Senators/Congressmen they should focus on the job they’re paid to do instead of simply grandstanding (which is a waste of time and taxpayer’s money). Disunity (which I believe resulted from the Marcos dictatorship) hampers the economic growth we all want. There maybe some truth to his accusation, but now at least the FG is cautious. But the fact remains that Alan underperformed in Congress and he ran under the GO slate. If he was truly anti-corrupt, then why didn’t he run as an Independent instead of being tainted with Erap’s corruption?

I would tend to agree with Kabayan on this. Don’t compare Ninoy with Alan. They are miles apart. Ninoy opposed the Marcos dictatorship definitely with a sense of FEAR, while Alan P. seems to oppose for its own sake. Filipinos tend to like the underdogs.

Allan Peter Cayetano had the guts most of us do not have and I love the guy for that. He knew he would be fighting a ‘monster’ and he took the risk. I think he would have evidence, the reason why he had the courage to expose the other half of the conjugal dictatorship. It is just that he was not given the chance to do that. For an OFW like me, the likes of Escudero and Allan Peter Cayetano prove that there is hope for the Philippines and the result of this election spoke very loudly and articulately what the Filipinos want. Between Mike Arroyo and Allan Peter Cayetano, I will take the latter’s truth as the better truth!

I do not think that what Allan Peter did is a waste of my money. He is there in the Senate to represent my interest and it is to my interest that somebody speaks for me and raises questions that I cannot raise because I do not have the platform that he has. Just because Allan ran under the GO slate, it does not follow that he is corrupt like Erap, that is a big leap of a conclusion that I cannot accept. Generalizing Filipinos as “liking underdogs” is again not acceptable. I am a Filipino who thinks and is capable of understanding what is going on around me. As an OFW, this government owes me a lot. I am risking life and limb here in Afghanistan and I expect better performance, better behavior, higher morals from those who run my government. Allan Peter, in my opinion is doing a great job and I would like to encourage him to continue doing this.

I have problems with your arguments. We tend to resort to motherhood statements and accusations. I think we can do better than that. Yes, as a Filipino, I deserve Chiz Escudero and Peter Cayetano. As Filipinos, who voted for them, they should represent our interest not the interests of the ruling elites. Thank you, very much for telling us that your yen has more value. That was very very helpful indeed!

I would not trade freedom for anything else. An authoritarian President has to be defined further. Right now, we have a dictator.

Escudero and Cayetano happened to be rich. Is it their fault that they happened to be rich? They happened to be elected and they have to represent our interest. I believe that there are rich people who are capable of thinking to make this country better. Washington Sycip is a very good example. Escudero and Cayetano are rich, fine! Are you saying that they do not have the ability and the heart to represent the marginalized sector of the Philippine society? I will hold my judgment on that for now until I see reasons to say that they cannot. Are they opportunists? Maybe. Right now, between them and Gloria and Mike Arroyo, Escudero and Cayetano represent the better ‘truth’. For now, they represent my feelings about this government. This is what is important. I am not saying that I will not be able to judge Escudero and Cayetano in the future. I can and I am not blind to what is happening. Right now, they are doing what is right for all of us.

The people you’re supporting is the biggest crooks! This is one of the reason why the Philippines economy is deteriorated under her stolen administration but she keep telling the filipino people that her so call economy is booming. Cayetano’s record in using other people to further their ambitions began in UP as a campus politician, when he warned riot police, saying “dont touch me, i’m the son of Atty. Cayetano” when at the frontlines of a rally against the United States Military bases. He, like many of them, are nothing more than ampaws- all taste, no nutrients.We need a nutritious senate to propel our country forward. We have done away with artistas, lets do away with ampaws in the next election.

What’s the truth? In the Philippines, its intrigue and wordplay. Things that Cayetano and Escudero are experts at. We voted for them because they spoke well, even if they had no real legsilative records to speak of. They spent the people’s money to climb their way to power. At the same time, they also used other people: Escudero used FPJ to catapult himself into the national stage. Cayetano used the first gentleman. Also, Both twisted the truth about the people they used- Cayetano floated a fictitiuous bank account, while Chiz tried so hard to make FPJ look good and credible- which he ws not. Both are peddle image and lies as truth. Dahil taga-gobyerno ka, i guess you are just like some in Malacanang in 1998 who believed in heir own propaganda and self-righteousness while they plundered the economy. AMpaw pa rin silang dalawa. Magising na tayo. Next time, lets go for real legslative performance and qualifications, not just plain mouth.

Actually the truth is Gloria and her allies have tried and is still trying to undermine Philippine democracy, instituted cover-ups of corrupt allies, issued warrantless arrests, covered up and stifled investigations of electoral fraud, attacked the basic freedoms such as freedom of the press, freedom of speech and right to assembly.

To those who have supposedly made “numerous” legislations, the real moral question is, did they support Gloria and her allies in these attempts to derail democracy? Are they among those who helped in cover-ups? Are they the “palakpak boys” who give a cheer every time Gloria goes to the House of Representatives so that they can be guaranteed Pork Barrel allocations? Are they among those who attempted to shove Charter Change down the Filipinos throats?

Too bad, Jayboy, we cannot differentiate between wordplay and discernment. Darlene Custodio, Allan Cayetano and Chiz Escudero knew that its their word against the rest of the members of the House of the Representatives who chose either to side with Gloria and Mike or be silent during the impeachment proceedings. They chose to be on that side of the debate which they knew they would not win at all because the rest were just wimps. Maybe, these are the ‘ampaws’ that you are talking about. Not Chiz and Allan. You do not even know how to differentiate the wimps from the courageous ones. I do not think what they did is twisting the truth. Who twisted what truth? Tell me.
