THE FOREIGN observers' comparison of the Philippi
nes with Afghanistan is really an insult if not biased.
They were allowed to observe anywhere here in the Philippines which I think the
y were not able to do in Afghanistan. I wonder if they were allowed to observe
the polls in the villages of Afghanistan or just in the hotels.
I would suggest that they leave the Philippines immediately after they get what
they want here and go back to Afghanistan where they feel safe.

Hey, Admin:
Yon mga dayohan they're only reporting what the see, In this corrupt so call Ph
ilippines. Kong ayaw natim masaktan sa mga parangtang nila dapat ayohin natin a
ng lahat na kalokohan natin mga pinoy.
Truth hurts doen't it. Even here in america when somebody ask me where I come f
rom I never tell them I'm filipino because some of them will say that filipino
people can't be trusted. Its true so how can I be mad kong yon paratang ng tao
ay totoo.
Gloria Arroyo, Is a bad example from all of this. Its bad enough that most of p
inoy liar, cheater. Nadagdagan pa! she's suppose to give a good example. But sh
e's the one who give a bad example to all of us. In my book, GLORIA ARROYO, DON
'T DESERVE TO BE A LEADER.
You may not know this but there is lots of people in the entire world knows wha
ts going on in the philippines, You can't hide the truth. so kong ako sayo, Exc
ept the truth even the truth hurt.
Its always amazing me, how the Filipino people, instead of changing their gover
nment and its behavior in human rights abuses, rally behind it, with false prid
e and stupid kneejerks.
Under no other "democracy" happened more extrajudicial killings, threads to pre
ss and other thinkers (opposition) then under the current administration. Openi
ng a 6 star Shangri La Hotel in Makati doenst make you a first world country. J
ust a wannabe. And dont worry, the foreign observers know best where to go from
here.
I'm an Afgan and you Mr. you made me angryyyyyyyyyyy!!! you don't like to see A
fgans angry... do you?
comparing the philippines with afghanistan is an insult to afghanistan. Wake up
and smell the coffee. Learn to accept the truth.
Mr. Allarilla,
Most of the time it is hard to accept the truth.
These "foreigner election observers" are too stupid and perhaps with a moronic
IQ. They are fun of making comparisons that theirs are much better than ours. I
n my opinion, being an observer is a means in which you and me can learn someth
ing from it to enable us in respecting it.
The filipinos have their own unique way of shaping their government through ele
ctions. Violent or not violent polls, that is their projection of what they are
thinking and what they are aspiring to. In a way, that is their style and don'
t change them to satisfy you "foreign observers" appetite.
I agree with you. They don't have the right to compare our country with Afganis
tan... it is really insulting.
I don't think that it's fair to compare Phils. to Afghanistan, or even worst. I
t's either that guy is bias or stupid, okey we have problems here but don't hav
e suicide bombers, press are not totally safe like what they were doing here in
the Phils. to observed the electoral process.
No foreign troops deployed in the Phils to keep the peace and order of our coun
try, and how on earth that this stupid journalist "daw" could say that .
Look whose talking, please check your own backyards first before you make comm
ents on how the Phil. government run the country. Go home stupids.
Alec Gwynth

I think we should accept the fact and take this criticism constructively. Our c
ountry is plagued by pests & corrupt public officials in general. Why shoul
d we pretend to the world that we do not live in a dusgusting country? I know t
he real truth really hurts and we are being compared to Afghanistan by foreigne
rs. I accepted that as a challenge for me to work hard initiate the change even
just for a little. I love my country, the Philippines, even though this is not
healthy place to live, to raise a family, to exercise my basic rights and to f
ulfull my dreams. It is only a place for dreams to remain always as a dream. So
Mr. Greg Saavedra, wake to the reality! You are just merely dreaming like thos
e actors running for senate posts.
When foreign observers compare the Philippines to Afghanistan, they don't mean
every aspect of each country. Many of these observers are well travelled. We ca
n learn from them how far we lag behind. In my view, we have to accept the trut
h that like Afghanistan, the Philippines also lags behind in many ways.
We may not have suicide bombers, but we do have bombers alright, civilian as we
ll as military. It's just a matter of time. We should welcome the foreign criti
cism as they really do not have personal stakes that could make the critique b
ias. Why don't we get mad at the government instead of blaming the messengers.
It is perfectly correct for those foreign observers to compare the more peacefu
l polls in Afghanistan and the apparent lack of order in our country's election
s.
While continuous fighting still engulfs Afghanistan, these violence are not dir
ectly related to the elections in that country. They are insurgency-related.
Suicide bombers there do not hit a certain target because it belongs to an oppo
sing candidate, unlike here where the intense rivalry between warring trapos an
d warlords have resulted in 153 deaths.
Also, the press is much safer covering news in Afghanistan than here in the Phi
lippines where we have seen the most number of journalist killings in the world
and the harassment of media and international observers by private armies, goo
ns, and AFP troops.
No foreign troops keeping the peace? What do you call the IMT in Mindanao? Why
do we remain so woefully ignorant of what is happening outside Manila? Some of
the foreign observers literally had to run away from a bomb blast down in the
ARMM, so I can see why they'd be upset. The point about Afghanistan (as poorly
chosen as the comparison was) is that all sides are armed and it's easy to get
caught in the crossfire. More than a hundred people killed in the campaign: is
this supposed to ne normal?
Let's accept the fact that our beloved Philippines is abused and continued to b
e abused by those greedy politicians elected by our people or got elected becau
se of massive cheating. (GMA?)
Mr. Pablo Escobar is right, we should accept the fact and take it as a construc
tive criticism so that we can grow by leaps and bounds as a nation.
If we are going to rally behind those abusive politicians, eh wala tayong patut
unguhan.
Let's wake up BAYAN!!!
Johnny Baldwin
I think they are really insulting Afghanistan by comparing our election process
with them.
Anyway, we should not be compared to any country, this is the only country I th
ink that candidates will do circus tricks just to get the votes of the majority
, candidates will make impossible promises, i.e. "will give you the stars and w
ill take you to mars", will make funky slogans and "jologs" soundtracks, will p
ay lots of "hakots" and "tagapalapakpak", will tell the people they know the pr
oblem of the poor and needy because they had a "movie" about it - sh!t their mo
vie sounds like a community outreach program for them while they are sitting be
side the director, will say they know how to work as and work with the masses b
ecause they portrayed such characters in movies and will give lots of donations
with their names printed larger than the contents of the donations.
This is the only country that we are cheated in front of our very own eyes and
do nothing about them.
Jose Balingbing:
Truth hurts doesn't it. The foreign report only what the see, Dapat mahiya tayo
sa mga paratang na ito dahil totoo naman ang sinisabi nila. You sounded like G
loria Arroyo, Kahit totoo ang sinasabi ng tao hindi raw. Mabuti pa magsama kayo
ng dalawa you make a handsome couple.
Pablo Escobar:
Hello! How are you, I hope everything with you is okay. And I hope your
dream will come true! As we all have a dream.
Yes, We should except what the foreigner say because its true, Truth hurt. But
, Thats the truth we can't deny it. This should teach us a lesson. And try our
best to work for better Philippines!
Like you said you love Philippines because that is the only country you know to
live and rise your family. Some of us already left Philippines to find a bette
r life abroad because we know that the Philippines is hopeless.
Alec Gwynth:
You're in denial. Wake-up! The foreigner only reporting what the see wit
h their own eyes! Para ka si Gloria Arroyo, She's deneying everything what peop
le throw at her. Even though we saw it with our own eyes. Belat ni Gloria.
Al Marasigan:
Kong away natin mainsulto, Gawin natin ang tama. Totoo lahat ang sinasabi n
g foreigner. Mahiya ka naman ano ka si Gloria.
Good grief, To all of you who call the foreigner stupid. I think you're the one
stupid. Because the foreigner only report what they saw with their own eyes! K
aya walang nangyayari sa bayan natin hindi kayo marunong tomangap ng totoo. All
of you sounded just like Gloria Arroyo, The bugos President of cebu. Do you ha
ve anything to say about this? Sige bira!!!
Philippine politics? Dirty as ever! Philippine politicians? Corrupt as ever! Po
litics is the most lucrative job in the Philippines, look at Marcos and Estrada
, including their cohorts. Why wonder about Philippine politics, even screen ac
tors and pugalist are in it. Who are they, what do they know, to lead the count
ry? What a joke. Philippine voters wise up, through your votes you can make the
Philippines great!

to all those who are fuming about the foreign observers comment, These are cons
tructive critizism, two things we do this critizism, either we go on with the
status qou or we can fix the problem, i dont see any other possible reason for
them to say that other than to let the filipino people know that there is a pro
blem with our election process. this govt has not done anything about the probl
em with our electoral process because they like the status qou, and that is to
keep cheating. I say we listen to the foreign observer and do something about i
t.
Salina is one of a thousand filipino living in the USA hiding the real identity
; but kahit gano karami foundation ang ipahid nia sa mukha pinoy pa rin ang dug
o nia, and you what is the reason why she hiding her real identity because she
also a product of corrupt descendant in the Philippines.
Well, indeed there is rampant corruption in this country so we are left to choo
se between the lesser of two evils. But unlike Afghanistan though, we as a peo
ple are not violent (unlike the Afghan who posted earlier) and are free to voic
e out our opinion. Let me just share with you the e-mail I posted on the Black
and White Movement because I will be sharing them time and again.
info@BlackNWhite-Movement.com
Your news ad today is unfair for it makes comparisons among Asian neighbors. Y
our comparison should be on the different Philippine regimes i.e. end of Marcos
regime, end of Aquino regime, end of Ramos regime, end of Estrada regime (defi
nitely a no-brainer). Thatâs why rallies to remove GMA from power donât prospe
r because GMA appears to be the best choice because sheâs the only one with the
economic mind. If ever FPJ won, then our country could be doomed. With his d
eath, then Noli de Castro will take over (who I think is limited to media knowl
edge). If GMA did cheat, generally people are ready to forgive for that reason
. She made unpopular decisions like the E-Vat but in the long run it would be
good for our country. Thatâs how discipline works, it would be difficult at fi
rst, but it becomes easier when you get used to it. The poor who join rallies
are generally paid, the rich do not join, so when the middle class join rallies
they usually amount to success.
Itâs good that opposing views are allowed for that can only mean press freedom.
Our country is rated the 2nd most dangerous for journalists after Iraq becaus
e of press freedom. So that ranking is another form of misperception.
Corruption would be difficult to address for now because of tradition. But at
least we have checks and balance to deal with them.
If fear grips because this administration intends to stay due to Charter Change
initiatives, then that can wait when a new administration takes over. The peo
ple in general are sick and tired of another impeachment complaint which appear
s to be the only purpose of the opposition.
Iâm making these comments independently to share my views.
As they say " it is what it is". The foriegners are just reporting what they h
ave observed. Come on lets stop calling names. Let's accept the fact that the P
hilippine Government as one is so corrupt and a in denial mood everytime someo
ne criticizes. Though I am still proud of being Pinoy but not proud of our Gove
rmnet being run by corrupt politicians. Cheaters Cheaters Cheaters!
WALA NANG TOTOONG PILIPINO!!!!
This is the truth, nobody cares about the Philippines anymore they (Phil. Leade
rs) only cares for themselves.
Philippine Politics (VOTE FOR SALE) .... Pera Pera lang ang labanan dyan.... Go
od example was Maguindanao naka 12-0 ang Team Unity (TU) at di na nagulat pa an
g Genuine Opposition (GO) kasi natalo sila BIDING eh di nila natapatan ang dami
ng PERA ng Administration
As I read on the different reaction on this issue, I noticed that most of the P
inoys are arrogant and self rigtheous about it. They are in total denial that
our country is sinking is disgrace of this arrogant and Illegitimate government
. It really stinks. We have a very famous saying in Filipino, "Ang matsing ba
lutan mo man ng ginto, matsing pa rin". I beleive that our government and most
people in our society are like this "matsing". No matter how hard you try to
cover it up, even if you wear an Armani Suit or whatever Italian brand name it
is, at the end it will still stinks.
Also, let us be reminded that our government is just a reflection of our societ
y. If we were able to kick out two "corrupt" president, I don't see why we can
not do the same for an arrogant, self rigtheous, numb leader that we have today
. The problem is we have no will. Sabi nga nila, if there's a will, there's a
way, kung walang will, madaming dahilan.
After the physical poll violence it is now apparently time for verbal violence:
this time against the foreign observers. Does this come as a surprise? No, not
in a country where ANY comment by a foreigner on anti-social, abnormal or outr
ight criminal behaviour is always rebuked with "you are not in your own country
, you are a guest here". As if the passport of the messenger matters! I believe
that if you see people as guests you take them even more serious: who invited
them to come in the first place. Back to business: the comparison with Afghanis
tan is overdone, but is it not a writing on the wall the observers made the com
parison in the first place? Deep down everybody wanted them to say: we felt the
elections were better than the ones held in France....
Pian:
I don't agree with you at all. When you said that Gloria Arroyo, Is the be
st person who can run this country. I guess you still eat atleast 3 x a day.
If Gloria Arroyo, contenue squatting from her stolen power the Philippines econ
omy will collapse in no time. And we're hidding in that direction, Not atleast
you don't know that. A while back you we're saying that under her stolen admini
stration the Peso went up, stock market went up.
Peso went up because of the money remittance from OFW. Stock Market went up bec
ause its been pad by these businessman which is Gloria Arroyo, Cronies to fool
other business who might want to invest to the Philippines. How long do you thi
nk they can fool the people these people are not stupid. If you and Gloria Arro
yo, can fool the filipino people with all your lies,....You better think again.
For as long as Gloria Arroyo, Contenue squatting in Malacanyang Palace the phi
lippines economy going down the drain.
Felix:
You're hypocrites when you said that kahit anong ipahid sa mukha ko pinoy p
a rin ako. I never say I'm not pinoy. In fact I was writing in tagalog/visaya.
And you were saying it doesn't matter how much I hide yon pagkatao ko because I
'm I decenda of corrupt pinoy. Well, Well, Well....I guess you're admitting tha
t all filipino are corrupted thats including you!
Ding O'rilla:
This is one of the reason why the Philippines never get out under becaus
e there is so much corruption in the philippines. Why do you think Gloria Arroy
o, Don't want to leave her stolen power because there is plenty of money to be
made from the gov't coffer. If that is not corruption I don't know what is....
Tony:
How can the gov't can solve the problem when they're the problem! The peopl
e running the country is the biggest problem. I hope this election we vote the
right people to set in the senate and hopely there will be some change for the
better Philippines.
Don: Tama ka! we should join together and get rid of these corrupt regime of G
loria Arroyo!
Jesus! Why can't we just accept criticisms? If what they say are not true, then
we're not guilty. Ignore them. Let's continue the good work. But if what they
say are true, then let's bloody do something to correct ourselves, our governme
nt and our system!
There's no need to threaten, Afganman, and there's no need to claim to have wri
tten a book with bad grammar, Salina!
Teban:
The reason there is no troops to protect the people because the AFP/PNP
are busy doing the dirty work for Gloria Arroyo, Cronies! You can't depend on t
hem to protect the filipino people because they're the one killing the filipino
people. As we already see on those school house the PNP just burn down. Don't
expect help for these AFP/PNP they're only there to protect the people squattin
g in Malacanyang Palace.
Salina, how can you write a book. E, mali mali grammar mo, pati spelling mo mal
i. Yung "except" dapat "accept".
There is no denying that there is a problem in our election process, and I think
that we filipinos knows it!What the foreign observers found out is "old news"
and nothing new that 80 million filipinos dont know.Just stop with the rhetoric
s and dont compare apples to oranges.
Gorio:
Thank you, For pointing my mistake. I'm not perpect therefore I make mista
ke in my spelling.
You amaze me, You notice my wrong spelling but nobody notice what Gloria Arroyo
, Doing to this country. alilujah!!!!
Haay, Gorio:
After checking my spelling I find out that my spelling is not wrong. F
or what I want to say anyway.
Just to let you know that in english language there is words that its sound the
same different spelling, Different meaning. And I've honest with you, I'm not
perfect just like everybody else I'm only human I do make mistake. That I admit
whole heartedly.
If you're in doubt, Check the encyclopedia.
Amazed:
Kong away natin mahusgahan ng dayohan, They should never let the foreign
er's come to the philippines and watch the voting.
These foreigner's only report what they see with their own eyes! Hindi na kayo
nahiya sa mga sinasabi inyo. Ako nahiya ng dahil bayan ko ito.
Imbis na magalit tayo we all should do our best to make our country a better Ph
ilippines. But, First we all should join together and kick all these corrupt go
v't employee's. Especially the bugos President of cebu. I had enough with her b
ullshit!!! If we're not going to do something about it, Then we all deserve wha
t we're getting for: Kaya huwag kayo mag complaint.
Bisoy:
Is not true that there is no more real pinoy. Ng dahil sa vote buying, And
all these bullshit on what's going on in the Philippines. There is still real
pinoy except most of them is very poor who can't do anything on what's going on
because of their limited source's/education.
But I agree with you that the people we elected to protect us the one selling u
s to the highest bidder. I have never seen any poor people has been elected to
office because they can't afford to spend all these vote buying, among other th
ing.
But this election has been improve because father Ed: In pangpanga won this ele
ction. And hopely Capt. Trillanes will win also,... that if Gloria Arroyo, Et a
l. Won't succeed on their cheating operation. Our only hope is for the people w
ho's counting all the votes, To count the votes to the right candidates that th
e filipino people cast their votes.
I'm afraid about these cheating operation of Gloria Arroyo, kasi nakikita natin
ang kanilang ginagawa. Lantaran ang dayaan.
Its worse then May 10, 2004. Presidential election.
Nice to notice some schizofrenic reactions here:
a. there is cheating and it must be stopped (agreed upon by people all over the
political spectrum)
but
b. when foreigners come and have criticism on the state of events (as mentioned
under a.) it is an insult and they should be banned
Maybe I should change my name to Confused......
pian:
you sound like a person i talked to during the marcos vs cory election, a perso
n i spoke with said "there is no one else that can replace marcos" are back to
that era again?
TNT:
I'll join you, For calling this bugos President of cebu. Cheater, Cheater,
Cheater,....Liar, Liar, Liar, Kawatan, Kawatan,. Hay Naku! Buhay.
TO ALL (YOUNG AND OLD)(Especially to Salina and Tony)
Indeed we are not ready for a genuine democracy because majority of our voters
are poor who rely mostly on personalities instead of issues. Thatâs why there
âs rampant vote-buying on both camps. So it becomes a choice of the lesser of
two evils. You have to prioritize the economy first which I felt GMA is most c
apable of doing. It is for that reason why I support her. Iâve experienced di
fferent regimes starting from Marcos. Let me just share with all of you the ex
tent of the damage the Marcos regime inflicted on our country that will hopeful
ly enlighten all readers. During the Marcos era our country was at some point
placed under Martial Law. So that all who oppose him turned out to be heroes,
injured (like Jovito Salonga), tortured, exiled or killed. So the environment
then was gripped with fear. Although Martial Law was eventually lifted, Marcos
remained in power so fear was still there. I remember the time when we had to
watch the Aquino assassination on tape and in secret even while at home becaus
e of fear. The middle class (where I belong) participated in Edsa I. With his
ouster, the media and congress became free to oppose the government. Too free
in fact, that Senators/Congressmen seem to oppose for the sake of opposing to
gain media mileage and free publicity. We became so divisive that would scare
potential investors away. The constitution was then amended to avoid a repeat o
f the Marcos regime so that qualifications to run for public office were lowere
d that even a high school graduate can run. But this has been exploited by som
e who, knowing their popularity with the masses as actors/actresses, ran for pu
blic office even if they have little or no background at all on public service.
Because most of our people are poor, then all forms of enticements catering t
o the masses were employed, like endorsements by famous celebrities and rampant
vote-buying.
Our nation is respected now because we have a capable president. It is not eno
ugh to say you have a heart for the poor, for it takes more than heart to run a
country.
Definitely a change in the system is required because the current system does n
ot address our needs anymore, in fact it hampers further growth in our economy.
Our democracy is unlike other countries because our country constitutes mostl
y poor people.
I am wary of the young new breed of oppositionists who are deemed to make it to
the senate like Chiz Escudero and Alan Cayetano. I think their only agenda is
impeachment and nothing else. What disturbed me is why they chose to run unde
r the GO banner which is obviously headed by the Estrada clan with no less than
the former president advocating on national television for the people to revol
t against corruption he himself is facing, and its former campaign manager in t
he person of San Juan mayor JV Ejercito, instead of running as Independents as
what Francis Pangilinan did. That in itself should have made their voters thin
k twice about their real intents. Iâve also read that Chiz Escudero CO-AUTHORE
D only about 2 bills I think while Alan Peter Cayetano had none while they were
in Congress. I have a feeling that young as they are, theyâre already skilled
at manipulating the voters for their selfish ends. Hope Iâm proven wrong.
You may consider this post too late but my sole purpose is for the maturity of
our voters so that come election time these points are considered on the next e
lection.. I am pleading to everyone to PLEASE let the president do her job and
yours as well. Leave the investigations to the media.
If the impeachment complaint will again be about cheating, then all politicians
should step down (except for a few good men of course) because they all cheate
d the country in one way or another with their empty promises.
To everyone, I feel it imperative to share this with all of you because I feel
that not all voters are aware of the extent of the damage during the Marcos reg
ime. It becomes easier now to share my views due to the Internet. You may ame
nd some points but please retain the essentials and forward this to as many vot
ers as possible. If you donât agree with some of my points, do tell me and I w
ill of course defend myself. For those abroad, kindly exercise your right of s
uffrage noting the points I raised. I feel that GMA is our best chance to turn
our economy around thatâs why Iâm doing this now as a concerned citizen.
SALINA:
You are but insulting Cebuanos, I can see that you really are against Arroyo bu
t calling her a fake president of Cebu and a LIAR and KAWATAN indirectly means
that Cebuanos are but people stupid enough to vote for her.
Cebuanos are just educated to vote for someone righteous enough to be president
, give me a reason why you should vote for Fernando Poe Jr.
The figures are correct, ano rin naman ang nagawa ni Estrada? Pro-poor pero yun
g economy at peso natin bumabagsak naman.
You are a filipino who is worsening the current scenario...instead of cooperati
on you are blaming others...crab mentality ika nga.
We cannot compare elections here with Afghanistan. Afghanistan doesn't have the
massive cheating machinery as was seen in many areas in Mindanao especially in
Maguindanao and Lanao.
To compare Philippine election is an insult to Afghans. They're giving Afghanis
tan a bad name. Afghans would have a long way to go to equal the sophisticated
Philippine cheating mechanism much less develop a highly devious COMELEC commis
sioners like Garci.
Pian:
This is shocking to hear that the filipinos are not ready for geniune domacracy
? says who? YOU? or is that the thinking of the few? so by that statment we sho
uld surrender our GOD given right for democracy and just look the other way whe
n our electoral process is being trample on by the same people you defend? i w
as also in edsa when we had the "people power" im not sure though if we were fi
ghting marcos for the same reason but i sure was fighting for democracy for all
filipino and not for the few, we have an opposition because we are in a democr
acy, (im not sure what your driving at about the oppositions) ...are you sugges
ting that we shouldnt have any oppositions??? or are you suggesting that we'll
do away without the senate??? again going back to my statement it sounds like w
ere back to that era of hopelessness, and the notion that the poor filipinos do
nt know how to vote, i dont believe that one bit, thats what the rich would lik
e to believe or to appear, are there actors right now leading in the senate rac
e? i dont see any, the poor votes for someone who they think can alluviate thei
r situation actors or non actors. you mentioned about during marcos, the opposi
tionists were killed etc...we are at that same situation right now only differe
nce is that it is not as high a profile as it used to be,
the killings has even gotten worse since gloria grab power, it not only gloria
who can run the govt. there are alot of choices out there you are just being b
lind.
BTW the peso is strengthening not because of good governance, it is a combinati
on of the dollar weakening and the remittance of OFW
this is not the time to sugarcoat our electoral process. i mean, its a common k
nowledge that there is massive cheating going on, in fact it has even reached t
o the point that it is considered normal already, which by all means should not
be.
the comments left by the foreign observers maybe uncalled for but sometimes it
takes AN OUTSIDER for us to see that we have a srious problem that needs to be
solved. Instead of focussing on how to rebut their statements maybe our best de
fense is to solve the problem itself that is if it could be solved. The way i s
ee it, it's more like a stage 4 cancer, the chance of cure is very slim.
solving it would take more than a very able president and honest public officia
ls. maybe its about time that the system needs restructuring. A change such as
that may just be what the population needs for them to be moved to restruture t
heir own values and realize that the corrupt officials are not really the probl
em rather its our tolerating their corruptions.
maybe im wrong, but then again that's just maybe...
