Is it safe to conclude that it is the marginalized who took money, hence the masa vote?

Even if I didn’t sold my so called “sacred” vote its the same thing, those crooked politicians will still take 10 times (or probably more) of the money from us the public. So for those who got 20 50 100 500 1000 etc at least they got something out of it, not empty handed like me… what I’m saying is, the problem is the system it is flawed end to end even if I won’t ever sell my vote those crooked politicians will “always” get their 10 times share from the public. So to sell or not to sell? I’d say I better leave the country find work abroad because I won’t waste my time in the hopeless beloved country of ours…

Hello siguro naman sa mga nagbabasa dito ay mga educated so hindi kami yung nag vote buying. Sa MASA mo ipamudmod ang blog mo. Vote buyers + vote sellers= corrupt citizens. What can you do in this world and era of monetarism. I don’t live in the Phil but occasionally I come for holidays. I can honestly tell you money speaks louder than words. Each time a meeting is organized by global leaders what do they talk about. Its all about investments making money. There may not be votebuying in their election campaign as to what it is in the Phil but bribery and tactics are obvious in their policy platform eg. tax cuts for income earners according to their bracket of income, incentives for babyboomers, bonuses for pensioners and other incentives allocated in the budget only to find out after the election it is taken back slowly from people. The difference of course…is not done corruptively. If only politics in our country is improved by major political parties offering incentives in their campaign agenda then maybe these obvious corruption will be eradicated like pests. Let us not criticize the country… our beloved country we called. It has no faults. We filipinos who lives abroad dont find it easy.We are still very lucky we have home to call unlike people in lebanon a war again brokeout and everything will be in ruins. Let us pray for better Phil.

When our countrymen regard elections like a cockfight, when people who “earn” during elections see only their immediate needs rather than three years of regret, when people entrust their sources of livelihood from politicians, vote-selling and vote-buying is here to stay. Until every Filipino will learn to stand on their own and not relying on the mercy of those in power, we’ll always have political dynasties, dubious elections and corrupt government officials.

from what i have seen in the last election, i’d say the elctorate has already matured a lot. May not be the entire voting population, but a good percentage of it.
voters indeed still take money from politicians. but they take only from the candicates they have already decided to vote for. they don’y sell their votes. they merely try to profit from it.
after all, food on the table still mean si much for these people the government and society have neglected so much.

But really, you can’t blame people if they do sell their vote. They do it out of necessity since for them, financial benefit is always better than something abstract, say integrity. What you point your finger at here are those who are actually struggling everyday just to put something edible on the table. But of course, i dont contradict your opinion. Only that it is poverty that drives them to exchange their vote for bills. Solve poverty, educate the people and make them a dignified people who will value their votes.

I still believe that there’s democracy in the philippines. that’s why people will do what they do right now, either wrong or right! but the people in power (goverment) can and could control it for you.

as someone pointed out, “gloria” have been doing irregular thing since she took the “seat of power”, i don’t know why but she is the only pres. that i know that can “rub it to your face”, that she did something wrong, and get away with it…

So, to the vote selling public, you are as guilty as those officers and candidates who buy your vote. You are participating in the economics of cheating, the economics of bribery, and the economic of fools. Thus, do not complain if the candidate you voted for, the same candidate who bought your vote, who bought your integrity, is the same candidate who does not make good on his promise of making your life better. yes, democracy is very much alive in our country. some might say, that, its gone but if you’re goingto examine it in all aspects, DEMOCRACY is very much alive in our country.

kung wala kasing democracy:
1. walang yayaman ng sobra sobra.
2. news on tv, d makakapag criticize sa government.
3. walang NIGHTLIFE sa malate, greenbelt, libis, and baywalk. (wwaaaaaaaaaaaa ayoko nun)

4. kung walang democracy, sa tingin nyo makakapag ganto tayo sa blog na to? i mean, maipapahayag ba natin ang mga saloobin natin ng ganto walng takot?

And how hypocrite some people are, after crying for honesty and truth in the cheating of 2004 elections, would now be proud to admit that they would accept money from politicians in exchange for his right. Anyone can sense that even at the grassroots, corruption proliferates. And these people would rally in the streets demanding for what? Change? Reformation starts from the hearts and minds, individual. Not government. Poor individuals….

Democracy is alive in the country because of the people who resist those who wish to impose authoritarian rule.

If it were not for those brave men and women who resisted the attempts of Gloria administration to remove democracy, we will be under a dictatorship right now.

However, these abusive and corrupt people in government will still attempt to gain total power through whatever means so it is up for the decent Filipino people to be vigilant.

Let us remember that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

Kaya mabuhay sa taumbayan na sumalungat at patuloy na sumasalungat sa mga taong gustung gawin uling isang diktatura ang pamahalaang Pilipinas!

There can never be a true democracy in our country until we achieve first-world status where our economy is not easily rocked by forms of stabilization. In other words, our democracy in itself is a myth.

First world status is not required to attain democracy. The very essence of democracy is the freedom of different sectors and members of society to interact with each other based on the principles of democracy such as freedom of speech, right to public assembly, freedom of the press etc.

The way Gloria and his cohorts wants it is to have a dictatorship to supposedly attain first world status. This is not only a lame way to do it but it was tried before and failed miserably. It is a reasoning that eventually leads to greed, corruption and abuse of power.

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

TO KABAYAN
First, our people need to be freed from the slavery of poverty, hence the 1st world status, so that all forms of destabilization will not shake our economy, just like in the US. Singapore is the most progressive Asian country and hence, the least corrupt.
