THIS is in regard to the recently concluded Senate presidency voting that was w
on by Senator [Manuel] Villar.
I am not against Mr. Villar or the opposition senators that voted for him, [but
] these opposition senators should have thought about it over and over again be
fore they voted for him. Since Mr. Villar spoke to the administration senators,
does this mean that most of the important committees will be given to them and
not to the opposition? The opposition senators that voted for him keep saying
that they still oppose President [Gloria Macapagal-]Arroyo, but how can you do
check and balance in the Senate if you do not have the power or position to do
so?
I think these opposition senators threw away what the Filipino people has given
them. They have to realize that people got hurt and even died to give them thi
s mandate because they want some changes and they want to stop GMA from doing w
hatever she pleases. I think the end result of this will show in the next elect
ion. The people will now think twice before voting for the opposition because i
t really does not matter anyway who sits in power. They (politicians) do not th
ink about the welfare of the people, or what the people want, but only what the
politicians want to do.
I take off my hat to the remaining opposition senators who remain with the true
opposition. It does not matter what their true reason is for doing so, at leas
t we can be sure that they will
oppose any wrongdoing of this present administration.

Senator Villar has just done what he thinks will further improve his chances co
me 2010. You know, this clever, masterful politician whose ambition to be the
next president is greater than his abilities to lead this nation. I don't cond
emn nor tolerate the actuations of the three opposition Senators who voted for
Villar. They have their reasons for doing so. Now, Villar has a problem who w
ill lead the Blue Ribbon Committee. Will it be Allan Peter or Joker? Honestly,
I opt for Joker since even he is an Administration candidate, he is known for
his independence and integrity. (Though, Joker doesn't want to handle the Blu
e Ribbon Committee as what he said on several occassions). I think Joker handl
ed the Committee satisfactorily during the last Congress and I expect him to do
the same in the present congress. For Senator Villar, since majority of the S
enators voted for you, wish you Good Luck and hope to see a Senate which is not
just obstructionist but a Senate which is high in ideals and aspirations. How
I wish to see a Great Senate that my grandfather is always proud to tell us.
By sleeping with the enemy in order to gain an edge over other opposition presi
dentiables, Manny Villar has just become a true-blooded trapo!
The opposition senators should not have duplicated what was happening in the Lo
wer House. They should have met before the Senate session and agreed on a comm
on Senate President candidate from the ranks of the opposition acceptable to ev
erybody, putting aside personal interests.
You still do not understand what these politicians true colors are. They go wi
th the tide whereever they can benefit from it. Villar was the speaker when the
House impeached ERAP, he ran under the ERAP's GO and won, he sought help of
admin senators and won Senate Presidency. Pimentel was the Senate President wh
en they were impeaching ERAP, he held the bible for GMA during oathtaking, when
he was not appointed VP, he became an opposition to GMA. Legarda was with th
e minority in the impeachment of ERAP, she cried when the envelop was not open
ed, she ran as VP of FPJ and lost, she ran under ERAP's GO and still remained
at GO. Soon she will change color when the presidential election comes in 201
0. Lacson, as PNP chief, withdrew support from ERAP during EDSA2, ran against
FPJ and lost, had disagreement with ERAP, ran with ERAP's GO and won, remaine
d with the GO until when? These are just samples of politicians who are not fo
r the people but for their self-interest. There are politicians like Cayetano,
who was against the administration and voted for villar, same with Escudero, w
hat about Jinggoy?, Enrile and Mirriam who were for ERAP now with GMA. SO who
among these politicians have their own principles and dignity... NONE of them.
It is about time that the voters will really think and vote for true candidate
s who are really for the people. Who are these candidates, we do not know....
..
In addition to what I commented, Lim abandoned the Senate for just a Mayor of
Manila. Why? Maybe he did not see any good achievement being in the Senate.
He could serve the people better than being a Senator. Lacson thought of the
same thing but withdrew later. By the way, Pimentel voted for Villar. Why?
He was the candidate of the GO's senators. So why will you take off your hat f
or the remaining oppositions. Are they really true oppositions?
Kaya nga pinalitan ang pangalan ng United Opposition to Genuine Opposition kasi
hindi sila UNITED from the start..
buti nga sa inyo.. hehehe..
tama nga ipangalan sa inyo..
Grand Alliance of Genuine Opposition.. for short alam nyo na yun..

Hindi sa akin galing yan ha..
Filipinos are looking for good governance. Before and perharps until now the de
ad can still manage to vote. But now certainly as shown in the recent election,
more than 12 million Filipinos voted for a candidate inside the cell. Do you t
hink they can serve better our country compared to those ones who are in libert
y? In my point of view, there are still 12 million plus of Filipinos who do no
t want our country to move forward. Let us hope that these people will have a s
econd thought if they really want a better country. Let us vote using our head
and not our heart the next time. Think of things on how we can help build a bet
ter country instead of always thinking the negative. Vote for the candidates w
ho are really qualified for position and only because of being famous. Mabuhay
Pilipinas!
Just because administration senators voted for him does not neccesarily make
him a prod-admin senator. This may just be a case of them choosing the lesser o
f
2 "evils" : Villar or Pimentel. As they say, the proof will be in the pudding.
Let us see what these crop of senators can accomplish, regardless of their aff
illiation.
I agree with you 100 percent
Look at the previous record of Mr.Manny Villar .He has always switched politic
al sides whenever it was politically convenient for him.He will do anything to
protect his business empire. We shouldl always remember this when he runs again
for an elective position!("Sipag at Tiyaga"!!! he he he)

My heart bleeds for the people who voted for the opposition senators that suppo
rted Villar instead of Senator Pimentel.
ILIPINO. Maraming salamat po.
I share the same sentiment as yours. Just shows that politicians will just use
whatever possible means to take advantage of votes but then forget that people
voted for them in the belief that they can bring positive change for the nation
. After elections, politicians will just work for themselves and their own inte
rests.
The pinoy vetoed for opposition candidates to check on the administration. Vill
ar betrayed the pinoy.
yeah yeah yeah....enough of the drama...nakakaiyak....kahit oposition o adminis
As far as I am concerned there is only one opposition kind of politicians, thos
e who sacrifice the welfare of the people in favor of their own personal vested
interests. They are opposed to whatever will benefit the people specially if i
t conflicts with their own personal interests. Based on this premise politician
s who claim to belong to the opposition are only doing so for convenience. This
could include future personal ambitions, favors they can get in time of electi
ons and personal loyalties to the kingmakers of the party among others.
Decisions taken by the opposition senators, Jinggoy, Alan Peter Cayetano and Ch
iz Escudero are decisions that are only made by people who have the interest of
the people in mind. They might have their own personal agenda but as far as I'
m concerned, by supporting Manny Villar side by side with the Administration Se
nators, they have shown the people that they are willing to compromise and nego
tiate with the Administration block in the Senate as far as pushing the program
s of government for the benefit of the people is concerned.
For all we know they could be playing the "TROJAN HORSE" role within the majori
ty in the senate. On the other hand I won't be surprised if Manny Villar with J
inggoy Estrada as his running mate will become the flag bearers of the Administ
ration in the 2010 National elections! However it is only a thought. Many more
political developments are going to happen between now and then.
TO ALL
I know this to be out of place. Please bear with me. I just want to create aw
areness by choosing the busy forum or the latest.
Do consider Dr. Martin Bautista for the next elections obviously (a senatorial
candidate of âAng Kapatiranâ together with Adrian Sison and Zosimo Paredes). H
eâs a 44-year-old gastroenterologist in the US who came home after 17 years. Y
ou can see from his background that he truly means service. For those who find
him to be a hypocrite for working abroad, do understand heâs a family man who
needs to sustain his family, that he will be able to keep his independence by n
ot relying on public funds to support his family. He helps his countrymen in h
is capacity but itâs just not enough for there are millions of Filipinos. Itâs
a good start in Philippine Politics to have him and his party around.
I urge you to forward/text/inform all your contacts about them. I believe they
only lack exposure thatâs why Iâm doing this. But I canât do it alone so Iâm
appealing to everyoneâs help. If all will inform their contacts about them and
urge them as well to forward, we might hit a million.
We cannot afford to be indifferent now if we want meaningful change. Otherwise
we only have ourselves to blame. BUT TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
BTW, Iâve posted this on the different topics just to be sure.
