THE SK [Sangguniang Kabataan] should be abolished. If the idea is to train the youth to be leaders, a law should be passed to strengthen instead the schools’ student councils. This way the students will be able to apply their learning and skills among their peers.
Barangay polls must proceed — this is the only means to change errant barangay leaders. We need to change most of these barangay officials knowing how ineffective they are in governing and administering to the needs of their constituents.
We should not be again experiencing their inadequacies [in] tend[ing] to our needs. All we can see are barangay halls that have never given any good administration to the citizenry.

i was supposed to run for an SK post here in our barangay. but the daughter of a renowned politician in our province ran and i was advised not to contest. she was my schoolmate and i knew her since our formative years. she was recently “kicked-out” of our school because she was proven to be taking illegal drugs. sadly, she won in the elections and is now even vying for sk president. how sad.
and how funny. she even talked about vices, especially drugs and online gaming as the primary problem faced by the youth on TELEVISION!!..
politics in the philippines is sick.
really sick.

What project are you talking about. I didn’t see any project in my barrio. The only project I’ve seen is the Barrio capt. Mayor, Car, House are the most visible in the entire town. Aside from that their children are studying here abroad. And thats the taxepayer’s money.

I do not think we should condemn the SK for whatever imperfection it has right now. The government and NGOs have not really given the SK the attention that it fully deserves. These are future leaders and if government does not want to do anything to shape it up towards better Philippines future leadership, the NGOs and other members of Civil Society should give it their full attention.

don’t blame the SK for corruption in our government. You should be ashamed of yourselves. puro kayo reklamo. why are you hastily generalizing each and every member of SK. Ang mali ay ang sistema hindi ang SK. Naiisip nyo bang kaung matatanda ang higit na mas corrupt kesa sa mga batang yan. Tamaan sana yang mga nasa mataas na ahensya ng gobyerno. SK budget constitutes merely 10% of the Internal Revenue Allotment of every LGU. So panong napakalaking sayang sa pera ng gobyerno yun compared to billions of pesos na dinudugas ng mataas na leader ng bansa. Siguro yun ang pag initan nyo at hindi ang SK.
Empower the youth. They are our future. The fact that you make them feel that they are corrupt will only instill the values you are blaming upon them.
Kayong matatanda ang sana’y magbago. The values that these youth leaders are molded upon your guidance. When they grow being corrupt didn’t you know that it is your failure. Your not being good mentors. You are only blaming these youth for the shortcomings of your generation.
And for our youth leaders don’t stop dreaming. Someday these narrow headed people will see you rise above the odds.
Mabuhay ang Kabataang Pilipino!!!!
