for me, nothing but pure self interested decisions from the lower house. i don’t know how crazy they are!!! the question is?? where is the rights of suffrage???are you pro people or just a puppets wearing honorable suits? but, we are so much hopefull to our much respectable senators that will not allow to stop for the”3rd time” this Barangay polls set on october.

It is so unfair for common people like me to be stuck with a corrupt barangay captain and equally-corrupt kagawad. The October 29 barangay election should be my democratic sword to remove them from office. Why should the House deprive me of this inherent right? The SK is a good breeding ground for leaders. It is the practice of corruption that corrupts the young mind - not the position. It can happen even in the family.

I would suggest that baranggay polls should not be postponed as the govt says the funding have already been allocated for the approaching village elections. As it had already been postponed in the year 2005 what would be the most justifiable reason this time. For the good performing baranggay officials with respect we would like to keep them but what about those that are not, we certainly like to change them and see new faces.

The move for ‘09 bry polls is a political maneuver. This indicates political patronage payoff, concon revival. The date adopted by lower house is a ploy for the upper house to agree for ‘08 instead. Sort of compromise strategy.

with 42,000 barangays, there is a need to cut down the number of barangays. I support Mayor Lim of Manila proposal to trim down from 898 to only 150 barangays. SK must be abolished. Better for them in the schools’ campus.

Our politicians masyadong makasarili. Puro na lang strategy kung how they will stay long in the bisniz of politics.

They really have to learn of bigayan to develop potential leaders.

sabi ng comelec may pondo para sa BARANGAY ELECTION so bakit kailangan i postpone? lalo lang magiging mayabang yung mga BARANGAY OFFICIALS na naka upo ngayon.

postponing the sk and barangay elections would mean another extension of plunder and corruption albeit. in the barangay level. how many barangay captains had died in office? a lot already!!!!

we cannot even put a more qualified leader since the tragedy continues with the assumption to office of their spouses. we have stupid laws created by stupid lawmakers who does nothing but investigates and investigates in aid of legislation kuno!!!

why don’t they focus on crafting laws? dahil hindi sila sisikat d’yan!!! mas sisikat sila kung sakay sila ng sakay sa mga issue na wala namang katuturan. Pwe!

The SK? I don’t give a damn! It is a breeding ground for future plunderers, este,,, leaders daw. but based on what we had experienced hanggang paggawa lang ng billboards ang nakikita naming accomplishments nila.. abolish the SK! and save on government money.

ngayong barangay election hindi pa automated……

gusto nila ipostpone kasi gusto nila automated din ang barangay election upang makapag practice sila MANDAYA sa automated election sa 2010……..

yan any tunay na dahilan aking mga kababayan….

This is one of the sad realities of our political affairs.

The barangay as a political structure was initially conceived as a mechanism for people’s participation. Unfortunately, it is misused and abused by people in power.

I think the timing of the barangay election before the presidential election is just perfect. It will somehow level the playing field for both the administration and opposition. Of course, the administration will still have the edge because they can pour in resources so that their allies at this level of the hierarchy would win.

Until we position in power, a government that genuinely looks after the general welfare of the population (and not individual interests) we will continue to be trapped in this cycle of poverty caused by corruption in our midst. Good governance ensures that its impact leads to more educated and informed population and better opportunities for earning income. Unfortunately, the opposite is happening in the Philippines because people in power would not want educated citizens who can challenge their actions. They want people who would blindly follow their orders.

We cannot go on like this. The Department of Education is one of the most corrupt government departments. How do we expect them to educate young people properly? We do not have to go to barangays to see people blindly following orders. In DECS itself, we have professionals (assumed to be educated) who blindly follow orders.

I do not understand the kind of mess we are in as a nation!

dapat wag matuloy ang barangay election kasi hinde pa handa ang comelec at kulang sila sa pondo at dapat maging computerize na ang election …

I am a Barangay Official, its better to hold election this year rather than extending the enjoyment of full term of “inutil” officials. some of them are not performing their duties. Regarding SK,dapat abolish na, 10% of the Barangay Funds belongs to them, maliit na ang budget, nakakaltasan pa ng 10% ang budget… wala namang project kundi street number, billboard, plant box…tinituruan lang maging corrupt ang mga bata..tsaka at their age, ipinagbabawal sa batas ang minor to enter into a contract, lalo kung daang libo.. PERO KUNG HINDI KAYA NA MAG ELEKSYON this year, wag ipilit baka mgkalokoloko, mas MAKATURUNGAN kahit MY 2008 na lang..

Saan kukuha ng milyones na pambayad ni Abalos sa mga cash advance na ibingay ng China? Eh di i-postpone ang barangay polls at yung gagastusin sa elections, e ipambayad na lang sa Cihna para makatakas sila sa kahihiyan.
