The MMO Bug: Lineage 2

Oh-kay, so everyone’s caught up in the “Bug” lately, even me. I’m curious about Perfect World… closed beta test invites please? *puppy dog eyes* I’ve tried GE, but, hehe, I threw away the itty bitty paper that has the beta account details they gave me during the Shangri La event. *toinks* Well, I thought they were going to delete it right after!

Currently, I’ve been trying out Lineage 2 just to get a feel of the experience and Wow. What an experience.

Ironically, I said Wow. I tried WoW, the MMO? Wasn’t that impressed with it. Graphics were blocky. Controls were iffy. But after playing the TCG (Trading Card Game), maybe I should give it a second shot. I’m curious to see what Onyxia REALLY looks like, although I doubt I’ll be able to reach a level where I’m worthy enough to visit her.

Ahem, I digress.

Going back to Lineage 2, I must admit. The grind is there. Players look for ways to avoid it though, some by annoyingly engaging in PK (player kill… yes, the game works like RO’s Urdr server, much to my dismay…) until their names go purple, then red. When it’s red they can’t enter a town without being shot at by the village guards. Now that’s fun to watch.

Of course, if they’re strong enough, they actually manage KILLING the town guards. Boo.

Less aggro peeps, such as yours truly, steer clear of the grind by peaceful measures, such as by doing quests and errands for NPCs. There are a lot of them, too, so you won’t get bored. But if that isn’t your thing, then go the Monster Raid/Castle Siege route and form big hunky clans that ally with other big hunky clans to get big chunky castles and be able to fly big chunky dragons to kill other big chunky dragons! Apparently, party play and political battles are more the core of the Lineage 2 system. So if you’re a soloist, you’re stuck in the grind and you’re bored, the solution is to get some friends.

Me? I’m just happy with the graphic eye-candy.
