All-out rumble with Mario and friends

One of the most anticipated games for 2008 is none other than Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the sequel to the enormously popular Super Smash Bros. Melee that came out on the Nintendo GameCube years ago. Everyone I’ve talked to who have played the the original absolutely loves it and can’t wait for the sequel to hit the Nintendo Wii.
For those of you who are living under a rock and have no idea what are these 2 games I’m talking about, here’s a rundown. Super Smash Bros. is Nintendo’s series of fighting games that features popular characters like Mario, Donkey Kong and Pikachu getting it down in a free for all, 4 person royal rumble. It’s a fighting game like no other which features over the top effects and combo moves. The myriad of characters that featured in the first Super Smash Bros. was absolutely astounding, aside from the aforementioned 3 characters, other popular Nintendo characters makes an appearance, like Captain Falcon from F-Zero, Samus from Metroid, Link from The Legend of Zelda and the 2 eskimos from the 8-bit NES game Ice Climbers.
The sequel, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is turning to be an even bigger all star bonanza compared to the Super Smash Bros. Melee as it will feature all the characters from the first game with the additional of a few surprise appearances. Most notable of the new characters in the sequel is the appearance of Sega Mascot Sonic the Hedgehog and Konami’s badass soldier Solid Snake. Yes folks, dreams of Mario and Sonic duking it out to see who’s the better mascot will come true with the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The game is still in development and Nintendo has announced that they are open in adding characters from other popular games if the other game companies are interested in featuring their popular characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Here’s hoping that Dante of Devil May Cry and Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden will make it into the game.
Everyone one of us here at GAME! HQ really can’t wait to get our hands on this game in the New Year and as usual, you can expect a review of Super Smash Bros. Melee in a future issue of GAME! Magazine once the game is released.
