Level Up! slates Perfect World open beta

Perfect World, Level Up! Games Inc.’s latest massively multiplayer online role-playing game, will move into the open-beta phase on July 11.

“Level Up! is planning to hold a soft launch of Perfect World on July 1 prior to the game’s shift from closed to open beta,�?? the game’s brand manager, Joel Salvador, said in an interview.

Perfect World Yaojing and pet The game, developed by Beijing Perfect World Technology and introduced locally by Level Up!, is currently undergoing closed-beta testing by a few hundred players who have been selected by the Philippine online game publishing giant in May.

“Actually, we have given out more than a thousand accounts through partner Internet and gaming cafes and promotions on the blogs of Level Up! officials. During lean hours, however, only about 500 players log in,�?? Salvador said.

Level Up! has other tricks�???and goodies�???up its sleeves for players of its latest hit.

“We’ll give closed beta players a treat, that’s for sure, for helping thresh out bugs during Perfect World’s birth pains. It may come in the form of free in-game items, but nothing that might upset gameplay,�?? said JP Pelayo, the game’s community manager.

Despite the clamor for Level Up! to retain the characters of closed-beta players, Pelayo confirmed that the game server would undergo a database wipe.

“This will be done in the spirit of fair play. Although we want to thank closed-beta testers in some way, character migration, along with their levels and items, is a no-no. We’re planning, however, to offer closed-beta players the chance to retain the names of their characters,�?? he said.

Level Up! is also preparing guides for new players. How the company will distribute these guides, however, remains unclear.

“Right now I’m focusing on a quest guide for new players. Hopefully, this will close the gap between closed-beta testers who have a deeper understanding of the game and new players who may suffer from confusion in the initial stages of their journey in the Perfect World,�?? Pelayo said.

i am one of the CBT player s for te game and the thing about the guides is a nice idea for the non-CBt players but then again please do fix some of the translation issues of the quests names and objectives they are confusing to the point that the stated monster’s name to be hunted in the quest does not coincides with the monster that we need to aheem kill/hunt. the reason for the low player turn out was that some players new that CBT usually and always means wipe out ( you can’t blame them for asking for no wipe out) as for the distribution method of the guide i might i suggest that it be included with the game client

Is perfect world really worth the long wait?? Will it beat the highly anticipated but expensive Lineage2? I have read in the sluggish website on www.perfectworld.ph it only has 4 races with 2 classes each… well at least its F2P

@Warmachine hmmm thats a tough question there… i guess the answer would depend on the player… now if you ask my opinion on the game it is not worth it unless you want a game that is eerily similar to WoW and its f2p but then again as i have said it doesnt have the polish (be is beta or full), lore and pedigree of the blizzard game now if you want to compare it with Lineage 2 it will beat it in a way by the number of players that will play it coz its f2p(i guess) if you ask me i’d pay for a game that really is a world class mmo or a major mmo.

Yes, Perfect World will still be free to play once it enters its commercial phase sometime in the third quarter of 2007.

PW is quest oriented game. Lineage II is more of a grinding game.

So far, Perfect World has been the best online game I ever played.

PW and L2 will divide the echelons of gamers in the phils.

while pw is a great game, it pales in comparison to l2( most apparent in the grafix dept). Im playing PW cbt and i like how it is mostly quest driven…then again the quests are mostly “kill X no. of monsters”, or “find Y item from X monster”. Seeing as how the rates are currently x2, i guess there will be grinding involved in OB especially at higher levels

i just hope L2’s rates will be modded to lessen the grindiness…and the price range wouldnt be too steep >.

when it comes to popularity I would say Lineage2. But the graphics(not including new features of newly made games) of PW would definitely beat the L2, considering l2’s first release at korea was 2004(its a bit old game compared to PW)

id hate to bash PW coz i love it too, but i disagree. L2 uses the Unreal 2.0 engine which gives it kickas$ grafix. date doesnt have anything to do with it, you only have to look at the picture of the yaoling above to see the difference

so you mean L2’s graphics is better than PW? I based only from what I’ve seen from screenshots and videos. haven’t played both of them yet.

I think you have already played or tried rf-online. assuming from your name ARX(I think it comes from the series “full metal panic”) which gives me the idea you’ve played rf-online ^^. could you pls. compare RF’s graphics and L2’s. And RF’s graphics and PW’s.
Sorry to ask but RF so far is the only game that I’ve played with great graphics

yup, so far. I don’t have that much knowledge on mmorpg’s. and I play only on local servers. foreign servers gives me pain, its too laggy…

@dende i think you should try int’l mmo’s there are a lot of mmo’s out there that are much better than what we have i.e Lineage 2, etc., dont limit yourself to localized mmo’s it depends on the game if its to laggy and of course your internet connection and your pc ^_^

yes L2’s grafix is waaaay better than PW. ive played RF before and it also has better than pw’s grafix. rf vs l2? L2 all the way, in fact i have yet to see an MMO that has better grafix than L2 (cabal maybe? ive yet to try)

the gud thing bout PW is that its f2p…but that could also be a bad thing when talking bout the potential community come OB. L2 will have an international community (sg, mly, ph and maybe aus?).

so far in my experience at playing PW…its pretty quest driven, less grind and more enjoying the sites, the server is x2 tho so i expect grinding especially at higher levels. Now L2’s grind…is truly horrid (hehe) i mean it cud drive u mad if uve got no tolerance for this kinda thing.

and yes, u shud try other MMOs if u can afford it. there are int’l f2p MMOs out there which are pretty decent,.

Now that I have read several comments. I am getting kind of confuse. Is the English version held in Malaysia or Philippines both the same? I bought some credit from OffGamers and hopefully it can be played in the Philippines server as well.

If you haven’t already heard, the open beta phase of Perfect World Philippines will start on July 18, not July 11 as originally planned. The closed beta test, however, officially ends today at 4 p.m.

I only saw lineage on posters but i think perfect world is cute too! But when it comes to cuteness, nothing can beat Philippine ROSE online.. ^_^
It’s a shame it will shut down on august…
But i think Perfect World is really cool!

About the item mall, i’m having a hard time searching its site… Is it because it’s still close beta?

Ive already tried both games(lineage2 and PW)in closed beta…

In my opinion Lineage2 is better in graphics(just like what ARX said). not only in graphics but also in gameplay and sounds. its indeed a Triple A mmorpg ^_^

the picture above have use the lowest graphics settings, i saw screenshots and videos way i mean wayyyy better than that…the person who took that screeny might have a pentium2,32mb internal VidCrd,256mb ram type of computer.try taking a screeny with your Gforce6 vid card,1gb ram and dual core processor type of computer and surely you will appreciate it

of course you can also use gF7 or gF8 series vid cards

i also tested this game only till lvl 6 and i love it :D, lvling doesnt goes that fast but it is real fun to play fly (elf archer) and the quest arent that hard in the beginning
i cant wait till they open it
