MMOGs, aside from WoW, on the Mac, Linux?

We found an interesting piece on the possibility that massively multiplayer online game EVE Online would soon be playable on the Macintosh. We used the term “possibility” since game crossovers or adaptations from PC to Mac usually fizzle out midway through development. In an apparent effort to expand the game’s reach, CCP Games’ development partner has decided to get EVE Online running on the Linux too.
EVE Online, for the benefit of the uninformed, is a massively multiplayer online game set thousands of years in the future when the human race will have already mastered deep space travel and colonization of other planets. Players are thrust into a setting where they decide on what roles to play??pirate or pirate hunter, military grunt or military commander??and how to react to events happening in the game universe.
According to the article on Macworld, “CCP games has partnered with Cider developer TransGaming to bring EVE Online to the Mac, which it expects to release later this year. TransGaming’s Cider technology has been developed to enable Intel-based Macs to run games designed to work on Windowsâ€???it’s been used most recently by Electronic Arts to bring four new games to the platform including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Battlefield 2142, Command and Conquer 3, and Need for Speed Carbon.
At present, there is only one MMO that runs on Macintoshâ€???Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. EVE Online is published in the Philippines by mobiusgames, which has under its roster other hit MMOs like MU Online and Rakion.
