Nintendo DS game downloads through the Wii

After reporting another record-setting sales period during the holiday season in the United States, Nintendo also announced a development significant to users of its DS mobile console.
Users will have the capability of downloading complete DS games over the Internet via the Nintendo Wii using a broadband connection. This is according to a New York Times article that quoted Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.
The article noted that future DS games, such as Professor Layton, will offer downloadable content as part of the package. In Layton, additional puzzles will be available for download.
Nintendo is also positioning the DS as a mobile information tool. It is looking at providing wireless delivery of information to the DS console. In this setup, people who may watch a Major League Baseball game or a National Basketball Association match could download live stats using their DS consoles. The report said the technology is already in use in Japan, wherein museum visitors can download museum tours into the DS.
