RF Online’s Planet Novus gets a makeover

The planet Novus and the world of Rising Force Online are up for a little shakedown as the futuristic massively multiplayer online role-playing game enters Episode 2, or “Pioneers of Novus.” Aside from putting it up on the Omicron server, Level Up! Games, RF Online’s local publisher, has also launched a microsite for the game that you can access by clicking on the illustration above.

RF Online Episode 2 brings many major changes in the game, among the most important being new maps, items, and monsters, courtesy of a new continent that has just been discovered on the planet Novus. Scientists and scouts (in-game, of course) who are currently exploring the continent are referring to it as “Elf.” At first, we wondered why. After looking at the screenshots, however, we found ourselves readily agreeing. Personally, we would’ve given it a name that’s elf-like but not necessarily the word elf itself–something like “Continesti,” for “continent of Elves.”

What will perhaps intrigue players more than the maps and monsters are the spanking new weapons that Episode 2 brings. Aside from normal weapons both sold by non-player characters and dropped by monsters, the rare items category has been expanded to include items that are normal but have additional abilities, items that are ancient, used by Novusians against Herodians, weapons classified as relics that are further divded into special, meaning its made for combat, and native, or those used to magnify force.

Just like in any other online game world, there are, of course, uber strong items in RF Online dubbed as Majesty items. Unfortunately, these have not been developed yet, so don’t expect them to be included in the first patch of Episode 2.

Other RF Online updates include changes in the price of NPC-sold items, the addition of a cure grenade, and higher attack points for ancient weapons.
