Perfect World Territorial Wars heat up
Tempers are flaring in the mythical world of Pangu as clans prepare for their second helping of Territorial War soup. In last week’s battles for control over 44 territories, Perfect World’s Tiger Server saw the rise of seven clans (Guardians, HyprAngel, Mythical, O|H, Legacy, Dragoons, and Qin), while the Dragon Server paid homage to an equal number of clans (Lotus, Phoenix, Trinity, Holy Order, Zodiac, Method, and MaHaRoT).
This weekend, players of Perfect World Philippines will get the chance to witness the first battles among clans. In Perfect World’s Tiger Server, the Qin Mercenaries are pinning their hopes of expansion on conquering Trade Wind Town, a territory owned by the Guardians, a clan currently bent on staking its claim on Green Wave Yard. The Guardians, which made history last week when it conquered a territory in roughly 42 minutes, isn’t the only clan faced with the dilemma of sending an army to invade one territory while asking half of the force to stay and defend another territory.
“We’re confident that we can annex Green Wave Yard and repel the attack from Broken Bow. The attackers have their own problem to address, an attack from a territory-less clan,” said winwin, master of Clan Guardians.
Qin faces a similar situation as it prepares to attack on one front, Trade Wind, and defend another front, Broken Bow, from IPX, which lost its bid to claim a territory in last week’s round.
According to Level Up! Games, publisher of Perfect World, the territorial war schedules are automatically generated by the game and that the schedule of clans with multiple battles will coincide, meaning their wars will have to be fought simultaneously.
In the Dragon Server, on the other hand, Clan Lotus, which boasts the fastest territory attack run time on both servers at 32 minutes, is setting its sights on Victory Plains–a goal that seems unimpeded. In an interview prior to the first round of territorial wars, officers of Clan Lotus explained their strategy: To take a territory located at a corner of the map and expand from there. “That will make it manageable–if not easier–for us to attack and adjacent territory while defending our home front,” said Lotus spokesperson Egwene.
The stage is set, however, for two other Dragon Server clans–Trinity and Phoenix, whose leaders chose to declare war on each other than expand to an unoccupied territory.
Can Clan Guardians persevere against the odds and annex a new territory while defending its home, Trade Wind? Or will Qin break through the defenses but fail to hold onto Broken Bow in face of the aggressive IPX? Can Clan Lotus maintain its powerful grasp on Dragon Server’s northwestern Pangu? Or will an upstart clan step forward to stake its claim on a territory in that part of the world?
