Royal Northwoods blanked a hapless Orchard for its second sweep win even as Sta. Elena finally broke into the win column after a 4-1 demolition of Mimosa in the Federation Golf League 2007 in various venues recently.

Rodel Mangulabnan-Sixto Sengson, Boying Rosagas-Von Sarmiento, Omar Dungca-Brian Donato, Junie Fontanilla-Richard Joson and Boy Ungson-Danny Dalija all won their matches against Orchard rivals that thrust the former champions back into the lead in Group 2 with 10 points.

Valley, meanwhile, spoiled Alabang’s quest for a fourth straight victory with a 2.5-2.5 draw in Group 1 to boost its qualifying bid. Both teams split the first two formats with the fifth, the scramble pitting Caloy Coscolluela-Monto Briones against Matt Mendoza-Joey Lerma ending in a draw.

Canlubang pricked Sherwood Hills’ bubble with a 3-2 victory that got its victims slipping to a share of second with Wack Wack which beat Camp John Hay 3.5-1.5 at home. Canlubang is now just a point behind in third place at 6 points.

In other matches, Tagaytay Highlands dumped Southwoods, 4-1, to stay in second spot behind Alabang in Group I.

The Sta. Elena win came after three straight setbacks. It also gave a new lease on life for Sta. Elena.
