The battle for the overall title in WGAP (Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines) Circuit is tight with four teams tied for the lead after the first three legs played in various courses.
Defending champion Manila Southwoods, Alabang, Valley and Tagaytay Highlands have all accumulated 10 points each to forge a four-way logjam at the top with Sta. Elena not far behind at 7 points and Forest Hills in fourth with five.
Southwoods was the top point-getter in the first two legs played at Alabang and Forest Hills. At Alabang, the Southwoods ladies took the the Class B title and place third in Class A while at Forest, it won Class A and wound up second in Class B.
Highlands, meanwhile, had a measly four points in the first two legs but dominated the third leg at Valley with 6 points, the highest by a team so far in the series where it topped Class C, placed second in Class A and notched a runner-up finish in Class B.
Valley, which lost to Southwoods in the WGAP Cup last year, is playing steady in its drive for a return trip to the season-ending finale. It has two Class A wins so far and two runner-up finishes.
Individual champions for each leg were Beachie Abiera, Mabec Kawsek and Ma. Ymir Oliquino at Alabang, Beth Menchavez, Florence Okiyama and Renee Francisco at Forest Hills and Loida Arnold, Rosalie Heo and Sherry Yambao at Valley.
