Forest Hills remained on a roll while Orchard ended its slump as the chase for the quarterfinal berths heated up in the Federation Golf League 2007 at various venues recently.
Eding Hizon-Raffy Garcia, Larry Patnongon-Eming Buenaventura and Tonton San Diego-Arnold Duay won their matches and Miggs Garcia-Bong de Silva earned a draw for Forest Hills, which downed Mimosa, 3.5-1.5, to stretch its win streak to five and remain as the only unbeaten team in the fold.
Orchard regained some measure of pride when last year’s losing finalist finally broke into the win column with a close 3-2 decision over Wack Wack in Group II.
Scoring for Orchard were the pairs of Raymond Sangil-George Gordon and Aian Arcilla-Jaye Escuadro. Andy Vasquez-Louie Garcia and Joe Gonzales-Paul Salvador backed them up with draws.
Riviera swept Sta. Elena for an extra point and a share of the lead with Forest Hills at 10 points.
Tagaytay Highlands’ 3-2 win over Valley kept it on top in Group I with 9 points, just a point ahead of Alabang, which absorbed a shock 4-1 beating from a resurgent Mt. Malarayat squad.
In another shocker, Canlubang shot down Royal Northwoods, 3-2, and Camp John Hay got back at sister team Sherwood Hills, 3-2, behind a last-hole win by Jeff Razon-Goody Ignacio.
