LEVEL UP! Inc. CEO Jane Walker has confirmed the departure of Level Up! Chief Operating Officer Sheila Paul, one of the earliest employees of the Philippine online game publisher.

Walker said Paul stayed on with the company until the end of May and moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the middle of June.

“She wanted to move forward to a new industry other than gaming. It was fun working with her,” Walker said, adding that Paul was a business partner.

Meanwhile, at its press briefing to announce its second quarter earnings, IP Ventures Group president and CEO Enrique Gonzalez named several new employees, including Gil Edeza, the former executive of several startup firms, who will be IPVG’s new Vice President for Business Development.

Edeza was hired along with 14 other new executives from different companies as part of IPVG’s expansion plans.

In an interview with hackenslash, Edeza confirmed his position in IPVG but clarified that his function is the company’s Senior Consulting Executive for IP Converge, the data center division of IPVG.

Edeza’s post allow him to provide ideas to executives of IPVG regarding the expansion of their IP Converge business, which he said will introduce innovative products and services.

He also clarified that he will not be focusing on IP e-Games, IPVG’s game distribution company.

Edeza previously worked as Global Chief Technology Officer for Level Up! Inc., which is a competitor of IP e-Games.

Edeza’s move to IPVG was also confirmed by Level Up! CEO Walker, who is also a friend and business partner of Edeza.

Apart from Level Up!, Edeza also worked for Internet cafe chain firm Netopia and software services provider WolfPac. He was once the country manager for network equipment vendor 3Com.

    @Bisugo:
    People are leaving because they want to pursue their dreams and goals in life. They also want to grab the new opportunities that has come to them. These opportunities will only come to us once, and so we have to think hard and decide about it, without any regrets later.

    True, there may be other reasons that those, of the ‘negative’ nature, but as professionals, these issues are just ‘that’. It never has been the main and/or major reason of any professional employee to leave a company.

    I left Level-Up, Inc. and moved to dme/Mobius. Then left dme/Mobius and moved to… a new company. It was all for my growth, learning new things, and taking new experiences, challenges, and roles.

    I learned a lot. From being the Pioneer and 1st GameMaster (GM) to be hired/paid here in the Philippines (legal online games of course), to being a Community Manager, to a Market and Competitive Analyst, and now as a Web Developer and Content Officer, as well as an NOC.

    So its really not a ’sign’ from heaven that there is something wrong with a company ;) Resignations are almost always for the good of the employee who resigned.

    Hey Alex, I still get to read hackenslash from over here in Kuala Lumpur where the gaming community and press doesn’t seem to be as active as in the Philippines…we are definitely ahead! Anyway I just wanted to add a personal note to your article. It was a very hard for me to leave a company and an industry I loved very much, but I decided it was time to accomplish other personal goals I had, like living in a new place with a different culture. I’m definitely looking forward to Level Up!’s plans this year and sad they will have to do them without me. I do have some projects here involving gaming, so you might not be seeing the last of me. :-)
