DESPITE being its best launch so far, IP e-Games has said it does not see its new game Cabal Online competing directly with its most successful game RAN Online.
According to IP e-Games president Steve Tsao, Cabal Online is targeting a different market segment. While Cabal is set in a more medieval fantasy world, RAN has a modern world setting.
Tsao did not reveal the number of registered players in Cabal but said they have “a 110- percent server capacity” and that it is becoming a problem. He also said their concurrent user number is exceeding 40,000, with their servers already operating at full capacity.
“This is our best launch ever but we don’t see a reduction in players of RAN. Many of our Cabal players are new and are from other online games as well,” Tsao said.
Cabal Online has one of the shortest launch periods in the Philippines with only about one month from closed beta testing to commercial launch.
Here’s a video I took of IP e-Games product manager Mark Ng demonstrates the unique features of Cabal Online in this walkthrough.
Developed by Korean firm ESTSoft Corp, the game takes place in a world called Nevareth laid to waste by a force called CABAL from which the game title is derived. Seven warriors rose to help survivors recover from the devastation. However, CABAL aims to return by producing a child to serve as king. It is the seven warriors who take up arms against the new threat from CABAL.
There are six character classes in Cabal: Warrior, Blader, Wizard, Force Archer, Forcer Blader, and Force Shielder. Each one has unique skills though they share similar modes such as combo attacks, battle aura and the ability to ride on an astral board (a surfboard-like vehicle).
One unique feature in the game is the War functionality, which allows a player to join one of two countries, Capella and Procyon. As the word implies, members of each nation can do player kills against characters from the opposing nation during a certain period when a War channel is opened.

Digest
Time will tell when gamers are fed-up with games, that are being offered here by local publishers. They are lucky to have a large immature gamers here in the philippines which are easily lured into the hype, what’s the local trend are into. And they are making a lot of money out of it. For me that’s good coz they can invest into more businesses to prosper. The bad thing is when gamers are losing the hope of getting what their money’s worth into playing a great game. Games that are launched here in the Philippines are the basic stuff of grind, quest, pvp. And by the time that a gamer for example realized, the time and money spent on a game which doesn’t even existed in the real world class A of games. Then they become hopeless that they categorized any game would be the same just as the other from the bad experience, because of the way games are being offered here in the Philippines. I hope that gamers here would read a lot so that in the end, they wouldn’t regret of investing money and time in a game that isn’t descent enough to be rated.

Wake me up when World of Warcraft or Age of Conan becomes local.

What about competing with Granado Espada? And I know for a fact that many people left the poorly-promoted GE for the super-hyped CABAL.

Yeah right….most of the mid level RAN players has already switched to CABAL….now tell me if what they are saying is true…CABAL has around 25kccu’s….fyi.

reminds me of pRO during the heydays unfortunately cabal is also plagued with bots. who wants to play with bots anyway? virtual farmers out there to steal your money.. wish cabal will thrive on real people instead of bots and farmers

GE is being owned by its very own publisher. Just look at their player’s blogs. Cabal not cannibalizing Ran? What world are you living in, mr. tsao? B**shit land?
Very Happy
Yeah its true, I have a 30 seater internet cafe here at Baguio city and when cabal started since closed beta, 4 of the hardcore online games were suddenly forgotten because of Cabal and until now all my players from PW, RF, MU and Lineage were all playing Cabal already, my RAN players never switched to Cabal, the same players. according to them most specially RF players were disgusted what was happened. and as a matter of fact this players are really like no more next day when they suit up their characters.
Atleast Cabal never think of players from sourcing out cash out of thier players, they always think of the excitement and cool ideas in game, anyway if the game is exciting, cool and it’s worth playing for, cash is on it’s way. sir tsao tnx for having cabal more power e games! eGames all the way
Very Happy
At least Cabal nor egames company doesn’t end up in rolling back characters as thier final result, hinid man lang magisip ng ibang paraan n hindi rollback, sirs and mam’s hindi po biro ung gastos, oras and effort s pagpapalevel ng game nyo, grow up naman

I see a lot of envious people here.

First of all, the Philippine market is very much fluid when it comes to games. Factors affecting players include, trendy, cost of top-up as well as the general worthiness of the game to his collegues(you play what ur collegues play).
Secondly, gamers wanted continous updates!
I tell you, mmorpg would is best only in the first 6months, what happens after that will depend on the developers.
The best game should be flexible: Player will get their time/effort/money’s worth.
The best game should be reliable: Try spending on a game and then later found out that what you paid for is a total rip off or you account got rolled back.
The best game should continously stirr the gamer’s thinking: Players would want to play more and more if they always see some new concepts, new quest and a make-over on the game.

Even if Cabal is like most MMOGS (grindily grind grind),a lot of people still choose to play it. I really dont know what’s up with the game but Cabal is quite lame for me. The game is also plagued by bots and I see another in-game ghetto world.
As for comparison with GE, besides the poor treatment of IP e-games, the game is regional while cabal is local. We all know too well that Filipino gamers would prefer to play locally.

if you guys are fed up with the games that are offered here aka Localized MMO’s i’d recommend Guild Wars, World of Warcraft and EVE Online
...

Hmm, there’s really a need for expanding your channels.

You should see how LU is getting ready to raise the white flag..lalo na sa perfect world nila.
They are hosting events which will force the players to spend lots and lotsa money, then on the awarding day, they will suspend the event, decrease the number of possible winners and then make their GMs play dead para lang tumaas ang benta nang megaphones at site counters nila.
you can check the PW forums under the lucky star challenge 2 challenge thread. 5 to 10 thousand pesos ang nascam nila sa customers nila.
They have intentionally lowered all rates (Exp, Drops, Soul, Fame) so that players will be forced to buy items at the item mall that will compensate and boost these.
Perfect World and RF online’s days are doomed. Great Games killed by their very management.
And when they say goodbye, dont expect them to migrate your characters to an international server.

Full channels in Cabal (in any server) has been a constant problem encountered by premium and non-premium gamers.
Despite e-games’ attempt in doing a massive ban of botters to eliminate those who are violating their policy, the channels remain full. The worst part is, there are several players who were unfairly blocked (http://forums.e-games.com.ph/index.php?showtopic=3349) and based on forum feedbacks there are still too many botters in the game.
Btw, I’ve always wondered why are the online gaming services (including their support service) were never scrutinized by gaming magazines? Parang puro hype lang napapansin ko.
