MANILA, Philippines — Few in the gaming industry know they’re even here. GPlayon, a startup game publishing firm, however, hopes to ride the online gaming wave in the Philippines through a partnership with Amped Games.
GPlayon has been operating since last year and has even conducted a very early closed and open beta test of N-Age, long before it partnered with Amped Games sometime this year.
Watch my video interview with GPlayon Manager Mi Jin Lee (left) and Managing Director Dong Hyun Kang.
Under the partnership, Amped Games will do the marketing and distribution part for N-Age, while GPlayon will host and maintain the game servers.
Amped’s top-up cards can also be used to buy in-game items in N-Age, which will be free-to-play with item selling.
The company is also looking at extending their operations outside the Philippines and is looking for other partners.
GPlayon Manager Mi Jin Lee said the company has been taking some time to evaluate the gaming business in the Philippines and to look for partners to strengthen their operations.
“The owners aren’t familiar with the Filipino culture so it was necessary for them to take small steps first,” Lee said.
Lee said the company is planning to introduce more games to the Philippines, with Amped Games being expected to be GPlayon’s partner.
However, Lee said she cannot divulge anything about the other games.
GPlayon Managing Director Dong Hyun Kang said the Philippines has a huge potential in the online gaming space, noting that GPlayon may introduce another game.
The next game might be more futuristic in style but will be in the massively
multiplayer online game segment, he said.

i tried n-age a few months ago, and i dont think it could compete with the existing mmorpg’s here in the philippines. the graphics and gameplay is terrible not to mention, its very buggy. with other games out right now like cabal and perfect world online, i think this game would find it very hard to capture a piece of the philippine mmorpg market. it would not even par with ran online imo.

As we all know that only a few dominated the gaming industry in the Philippines each have their ups and downs. so i agree to the management of G-playon, as a new game publisher here in our country taking this huge marketing strategy will boost the company’s name/image and increase their competitiveness in the online gaming business. By this partnership the company can focus more on evaluating and studying the gaming market in the philippines which can help in their future projects.
BTW i have played their flagship online game, N-AGE. its been here since last year hopefully everyone would try it. Nice game (lol)

Although I haven’t tried playing GPlayon yet. But I think this will be a hit to the Filipino Youths today since they’re always trying new online games once it comes out. Hope it all goes well when the time comes for the launching. =)

its a first gen game.. it will be hard for them to cope with those 2nd gen ones! but hope they will bring something really good and new here in Pinas. I think n-age will be just another online game.. Pero to the company hooray! bring the good ones!

Looking forward to the new experience N-Age. Keep Up!

although i am playing other games right now, for a gamer like me i would have high expectations to the new online games like n-age rather than playing what is so popular at present. And stick what can give me the thrill most. see guys in n-age soon.

The growth of electronic gaming is important not because it helps us understand the types of electronic games that young people play, nor because it illustrates the tremendous growth in popularity of these activities, although these are important aspects of the issue. Rather, understanding where video and computer games have come from and where they are going illustrates the huge changes in the nature of electronic gaming and highlights why psychologists should be concerned with this phenomenon. Modern gaming experiences for children, adolescents and adults are extremely social in nature and offer a variety of opportunities for social interactions of both a cooperative and competitive nature. It is important to understand this new social environment and especially to understand the psychological effects of long-term participation in these activities.
Social online games provide a highly visible social structure for judging success and progress. Unlike other types of video and computer games that can be played solo, all the actions of a social online gamer take place in a virtual environment accessible to many other players.

Even the Online Game Publisers do bring great game from Korea..it will be still difficult to be played in the Philippines.. lineage ii is one of the great game but hardly played by Filipinos cause aside from its expensive to play the net lines are slow that it makes the game buggy.

Gplayon! I would like to request for Rappelz!

Aion is just pure hyped nothing more. I’m not into Korean mmo games that are not par with triple A games out there. Yes, they’re not as popular here in the Philippines but they are internationally acclaimed. I think players here in our country have more potential in other games rather than games that are just from Korean mmo or any Asian mmo that stick with the level grinding bs. They just keep feeding us with brainless games thats not even competitive in the world industry standard. Typical gamers here are often intimidated when introduced to int’l games. One sign of not growing, they don’t even read reviews or any material that they can benefit if the game is even worth playing. By the time they’re fed-up with games here they wouldn’t give a chance to any mmo that would be introduced to them, gameover in short because of crappy games here. BTW I’m a GW and WoW player. Business is the word for local mmo here in our country. Plain and simple.

maganda nga! @ Tinkerbelle

i want gplayon/n-age to give me the 2 hours and 20 minutes of my life back. 2 hours wasted downloading/installing a sucky game. 19 minutes playing a sucky/buggy game. 1 minute uninstalling a sucky/terrible game

I really dont know why local players dont get tired of korean mmorpgs here in pinas. Different game same concept. And its always about the money, its never about the growth of gaming industry here in pinas. fugly develeopers, fugly games, fugly concept
mexico

Sorry Williams, your right I am wrong, I suck thanks man for clearing my mind!

err, digest….
Are you sure you know what youre saying about Aion? First of all, Aion is not popular. Second, its not pure grinding as you say it is. and third, you say youre a GW player. Well the makers of Aion are also the makers of GW, duh.
Nga pala, they are also the makers of City of Heroes, Lineage 1 and 2, and Tabula Rasa.

ganda ng na panood ko ng dekaron ha.
kailan kaya open item mall ng n-age
ShopOwner
I’m wondering kung may qualified game testers ang mga taga Amped. Walang redeeming aspect ang N-Age.
Seriously, Tetris has more gameplay and challenge going for it than this sorry excuse for an mmo.

N-age better than all this gaming like WOW and Age of Conan.. pilipino’s are very cool so they need a cool game like n-AGE.. If i will comparing n-age to WoW.. N-age is very better becos N-age have better graphics and gameplay, Even lineage 2 is below the quality of n-age. and gameplay of n-age is very good than any other game ever created.. very cool, everyone cool is now playing n-age
aion for life
Whoever publish AION online for the Philippines will rule the gaming industry.
aion for life
I’m actually looking forward to play Aion, waiting for it to be published here in the Phil.
aion for life
btw, if you want us to play your games, give us an assurance that it will be a bot free game. And if you can get Aion, you’ll be the best publisher of games in the Philippines. hehe!

Ang Gplayon pumunta lang dito para manloko ng tao. Ang daming utang tapos kung magbabayad eh papatalbugin ang tseke!
Isa kami sa naloko kaya kung maari, eh, dapat wag natin tangkilikin sila!
GreenArcher
Well guys, for those people who wants Aion online, well very expensive ng license nito, and according daw sa mga publishers here in Philippines, mga 5 to 7 years pa before ipublish ang laro na eto, I dont want to say bad thing about sa technology natin kasi mataas na specs ang kailangan before playing this game which is AION. gets? at ikaw Largebelly wala ka alam sa mga company like this, magtrabaho ka.. wag ka maging tambay.
