Turn on the TV when there’s something you want to watch. And if you’ve got nothing better to watch, turn it off. If your butt reminds glued to the couch, pick up a magazine and read. Pick up a book and read. Write in your journal. Daydream. Better yet, get up, get some fresh air, go for a walk. Make conversation with your housemates.
Watching TV may be a good way to “empty one’s mind.” I zone out in front of the TV lots of times. But I’ve also realized that I’ve been wasting a lot of time just staring at the screen… and wasting electricity in the process too.
Turn the TV off and see what productive things you come up with. Will you whip up a meal instead of channel surfing? Will you finish that book that’s been at the bottom of your to-be-read pile? Will you spend a quiet moment with yourself? Turn the TV off and see what other things go “on” during that movement. Who knows what you might discover?

watcing tv is good for everyone but not all the time and not all the programs
when you watch tv and you waste your precious time thats bad. not good for your pocket and your intelectual rating. theres lots of program on tv that you will learn thing usefull to your daily needs. programs that deals on house repairs, example…what do you use to patch the hole in your roof? you use vulca seal… very expensive. now try this one. use packaging tape. its much much cheaper than vulca seal, its leak proof.
programs that deals on cooking. not every body understand cooking and yet its important to understand cooking so as to make the food your cooking better than yesterday. learn how to use leftovers and you can save money.
what am driving at is use your tv time to learn and know many things productively.
its good for the household economy.
about the packaging tape, you can’t see it yet on tv. i just want to share, try it and be satisfied. i use it and am satisfied. share it with others so they can also benefit.
don’t forget to turn off your tv set and also don’t forget to try what you have learn for the benefit primarily yourself then your family

this is one is so totally good. i used to be in front of the tv for several hours (i get to watch from morning til the afternoon)watching dvd esp. every weekend. i just can’t live a day not watching a movie or movies. definitely a waste of time and electricity. plus it drools me into inactivity sometimes i forgot some things that need important attention.
watching for hours makes my time runs so fast leaving other things hanging and unattended.
and you bet, i was really hit the moment i read this.

i definitely agree. i used to sleep with the TV remote right beside me and would turn on the tv first thing in the morning. i would fool myself saying that i’ll be watching only for a few minutes and before you know it, i’ve already been glued for almost 2 hours of channel-surfing. TV is not bad as long as you instill proper discipline and control.

Yes, its better that we do something productive with our ildle time than to waste it in front of a TV. Reading is the best thing to do, it enlightens our mind and widens our vocabulary.

I agree with that. Excessive viewing encourages idleness. It’s always good to take a walk and refresh yourself.
