My take: It may not be today nor it may not be tomorrow but we are slowly getting there. As long as there is a demand for such convergence device, there will be manufacturers who will churn them out. Where there’s manufacturer, there’ll always be their R&D to research on making it better and sooner on later, one of them will make it right.
There will always be the “purists” that will insist on using a phone to do “phone things”, they use a PDA to do “PDA stuff” and cameras to do “camera thingies” but little do they know that their plain old phone actually is doubling out as an addressbook, their PDA is capable of MP3 playback and the camera is capable of storing files other than images.
My point is, convergence is here and without really thinking about it, we are already getting used to it.
As one of my favorite villains says “Resistance if futile”.
