Canon’s new PIXMA printers coming soon

I found this Engadget post about PC Magazine’s review of Canon’s $50 PIXMA iP 1500 photo printer.
Although not the fastest nor the best inkjet photo printer available, PC Magazine gave it 4.5 stars (out of 5) for offering an “astounding” combination of speed, quality, and price. Not bad for a printer that costs less than P3,000 (assuming that the $-to-Php rate doesn’t get any worse). The local Canon site says that these printers are coming soon, and those who print photos only occasionally can look forward to saving themselves a trip to their neighborhood photo developing store.

re dollar rate, i was fairly sure at the start of the year that printers were going to be given away for free as come-ons for new PC purchases, and it was looking that way before the elections. But now our economy’s gone awry, they’re sold separately again. :(

btw have you noticed how printer manufacturers epson, hp, canon etc seem to be hiring designers of kitchen appliances? they almost look exactly like breadboxes now.

A cheap Photoprinter is a nice come on, unfortunately, it’s the ink’s price that’ll get to you

Yeah. This model comes with smaller ink tanks, so Canon will definitely make money off the refills even as they practically give away this printer.

i wouldn’t mind paying $$$ for a printer that is cheap to refill.

the tanks are small but cheap…so you’ll still be off way better than with a lexmark and most other printers around that price.
