You had me at “unlimited text and calls”

www.suncellular.com.ph

That SUN Cellular promo is starting to pick up real fast - a lot of people have been sending me their new SUN cellular numbers and get this — asking me to send them mine!! (the presumptous little..)

It’s the latest local Telco craze - text and call all you want just for an additional monthly P250.00 (US$5.00) for post paid and P100.00 (US$2.00) for prepaid.

The 24/7 promo is ideal for young lovers or the gimik barkada who constantly keep in touch. So what’s the catch? The unlimited text and calls are only from SUN to SUN SIM cards. The fine print also says,

With 24/7 Call & Text Unlimited, you can enjoy unlimited local calls and local texts to other Sun subscribers anytime and anywhere within the given validity period.

Ahhh … (but I admit, a good way to build a stronger subscriber base)

My friends bought sun sims 2 weeks ago and they’ve been using their celfones like landline phones… everybody in my kada’s using sun so i gave in… sure, call and text all you can but man…. its so hard to make a call past 9pm… and it keeps on disconnecting while youre talking to someone…

Geeky analysis:
Additional Php250 for postpaid and additional Php100 for prepaid and unlimited txt/calls will be given…

Where’s the justice in the world? Postpaid subscribers are just that: they pay fixed monthly fees (and all other plus-plus charges) and they have to pay a higher amount to avail of the promo???

Pre-paid “subscribers” are those on a budget and simply get “load” whenever they have the spare money to do so — and they get to pay less to have unlimited txt/calls?

I don’t get the logic… (if anyone does get the logic behind this — please feel free to answer.)

Sun’s newest product really is good but, prepare to wait to be connected as lines can get soooooo coooonnnnngggggeeessstttteeedddd that sometimes it gets exasperating during the busy hour (evenings). If you want immediate connection, better talk during daytime or after 12. And note that calls are good for 15 minutes afterwhich it is automatically cut. That’s why I just keep on redialing.

to bernie: i’m not from sun but i heard from the promo that the P100 for pre-paid is only good for 10 days, you’ll have to shell-out the same P250 for it to last 30 days.

Don’t worry guys, it’s not gonna be a long-term thing. And btw, it’s 100 pesos for 10 days and 250 pesos for 30 days of unlimited calling, texting, battery draining and ear-numbing experience…

BAD COMMENTS ON SUN: I noticed that all my texts from sun to smart did not receive by the latter especially during afternoon and evenings. so, i decided to throw awya my sun sim which i started using since november 2004. I have no problem with sun since 2004 but network becomes worse when they started offering 24/7. too bad

oen more thing. sun cellular has even the guts now to increae its 24/7 price from the current 250 to 350 pesos a month! so i decided to switch to TOuch mobile.
