This development makes me want to get a 2nd phone with a Sun SIM. The copycat Smart and Globe has offered similar service and those same service may serve the Sun subscribers well since it will help decongest the lines of Sun. (oks ba sa logic?)
These “eat all you can” call plan that Sun initiated had really shaken up the industry and it actually made the cellular telecoms mature faster. Hopefully, these unlimited text/calls will become the norm at a reasonable cost to us consumers.
i think TM is better.look at smart subs, suffering from system error. SMART txt subs to use unlimited tx for a while since unlimited calls have errors.Smart has a lot of codes to memorize and key in.TM came so smooth and clean.Sulit to the pocket.
Sun rules!!!
great! This is what consumers need. A page that has all the info and make it easy to compare.
And you said it right, some of the info you have will go stale in just a while.
Sun 24/7 now has four denominations. I saw it on the billboards. I think one is P50 for unlimited text/calls for 5 days. And other one that’s P150 for 15 days. Something like that.
With Sun’s congested network and Smart’s not so smart 258 offering (i hear the callback sucks and registration is difficult), I’m placing my bets on TM. Besides, TM to TM regular rate (not the unlimited) are still lower a P6.50 per minute in the first two mins, tapos P1 per minute thereafter. Still have to try it though.
Mabu-hey!

I think Smart’s system is the worst in terms of ease-of-use. With TM’s system, you’d have a hard time determining whether your contact is using a Globe or TM number (the exclusivity is a limitation). Sun’s scheme is great; much has to be done with coverage and network capacity, though.
But the fact that local telcos are now getting into unlimited schemes is ultimately beneficial to the end-consumers–after the telcos get over the snags they’ve hit so far. =)
I wrote about this also in my blog a few weeks back:

Sun would soon be addressing this congestion problem as they still have plans to roll-out a lot of sites. I still think Sun is a good choice whether it be your main phone line or a secondary one.
Sun started a trend that has benefited the end-user. Not only cellphone service was made affordable, with Globe and Smart joining the bandwagon, but fixed line service and even internet service courtesy of PLDT.
Competition in a free market and a democratic system really worked this time for us consumers. I hope this marketing strategy would also be adopted by the oil companies (i.e., Shell, Petron, Caltex and the minor players). How I wish!
Sun Rulezzzz!!! If your currently on Sun and then decide to switch to these other two networks, then your dumb! Cant you see what’s happening here??! Globe and smart are trying to take all the customers from sun claiming that they have a better signal but if you switch and they successfully did then they STOP the unlimited promos their running and SUN will be gone in the map. think about it Globe and smart are using us….. And while globe is doing the promo their postpaid service got SCREWED up!! until now… Globe fixed that!
And don you remember that globe and smart SUE Sun for having such “promos” why them too?? as the saying goes “if you cant beat them, join them” or “dont hate the players, hae the game” that goes for globe and smart…. peace ya’ll
(think before you switch)
I would have switched to SUN if there was a signal in our province, lucban, quezon.
OK, so the unlimited craze is now happening domestically in the Philippines.
Do you have relatives abroad? How about them calling the Philippines unlimited for a flat monthly rate?
Better yet, the calls are to a mobile phone that we issue in the Philippines. Talk all you can talaga.
Check it out.
Hi,
I had a question about Sun cellular coverage, Do they have a network in Biliran? Great work on the blog, well analyzed.
Rohit
why is it that the tm todotxt promo for the whole day is until dec.,14 2007 only and the new promo is good only for daytime? (TM10) which is good only from 8am to 4:59pm,what about thier subscriber who are using from 5m to 7am? i hope Sun will have wider coverage soon!
I believe Sun will solve its congestion problem soon.ü
