The LifeDrive Diaries, Part I: The Aesthetics

I’m glad to see that the LifeDrive is smaller than I imagined it to be. The initial rumors on the Web said that it was twice as thick as the Tungsten|T5. Well, if you want to be technical about it, it’s about 1-1/4 times as thick as the T5 (15 mm vs 19 mm). It’s Palm’s biggest handheld so far, but its not so big that you can’t pocket it. Granted, it’ll be a tight fit in your shirt pocket, but who carries PDAs around in his shirt pocket anyway? It will slip easily into your pants pocket, although you might get funny looks of the “Is that a rocket in your pocket…

Tungsten, T1, T2, T3
Zire 71, Z72

Now with the LifeDrive, what comes next?

Basing on the current succession patterns of names, would they call it the Life Drive 2?

Or (shudders) the DEATH Drive, kasi after Life, comes Death di ba?

So what would they call the next iteration of this Palm product line after the LifeDrive? - the DEATH_Drive?

This consumer reports on the new Palm LifeDrive PDA, including styling versus HP and other PDA devices….

SELL THE TREO! SELL THE TREO!
GO FOR LIFE! GO FOR LIFE!
DRIVE! DRIVE!
:D :D

After a week with the LifeDrive, I’m… not going to switch. It’s great and all, except perhaps for the battery life (which is not great, but I can live with it). I’m staying with the Treo 650 for two reasons:
1. I can’t live without the thumboard. There are so many instances when the thumboard can be used and the ons-screen input area cannot (like when in a moving car).
2. I don’t think I can live with the 500-name limit on most cell phones.

Jayvee Fernandez does, or at least did. Before, he tried to cram his Handspring Visor Prism into his polo pocket, along with its keyboard, and it looked like the seams would give way. :-D

la lang.

URGH! Mister Masterson, that has just left a very vivid and disturbing image in my mind…

Right. Jayvee Fernandez also crammed his iPAQ into his tight jeans pocket. A lot of good that did him, haha!

(Oops, sorry Jayvs, I still feel your pain!)

OHMYGOD! ART! That left an even WORSE image in my mind!

Take it out! Take it out! ARRRRGGH!
