It’s out!

The latest issue your favorite mobile tech lifestyle magazine, Mobile Philippines (m|ph), is out!

Have we got some pretty spiffy devices thoroughly reviewed for you: get to know the soul-stirring iPod nano; the pocket-friendly Nokia 1110 and Nokia 1600; the music-fueled Motorola E680i “DJ Moto”; the videocam-like Nokia N90; the big-screen Archos AV700 portable media player; and a trio of Sony Walkman units, namely the Network Walkman NW E505, the Network Walkman HD5 and the amazing Sony Ericsson W800i music phone.

We also go back in time to take a peek at a quick history of portable music players, spanning the old analog days to today’s digitals, as well as a history of portable memory devices.

And just to complete the picture of having old geezers recall their younger days (Jayvee might object to this), the m|ph editors recall their very first mobile devices, some of which ought to belong in museums by now.

Beyond the memories, this issue also introduces you to a singular voice talent and recording studio that specializes in podcasts. There’s also a closer look at the surprising alliance between Palm and Microsoft, as well as a roundup of a bunch of mice that just happened to scurry by (some of which are optical).

Oh, and stalwart editor Jason de Villa introduces the younger gen to a history of m|ph the magazine.

And one more thing (with apologies to Steve Jobs). There’s something different about m|ph, or more precisely our publishing group, starting this month. Can you spot it?

It’s out in the stands now, folks, so please do get yourselves a copy. If this issue doesn’t jog your memory, we don’t know what will. :)

Finally! :-)

Oooh! Funky-delic colours! I LIKE!

Hey! hmi has gotten hip! Not that Hinge wasn’t hip before, but shameless brown-nosing aside (haha!), loyal readers like me can only hope that despite the changes at the back end, m|ph will continue to be what it always has been: the choice of intelligent readers who know where to go for the good stuff. :)

it is only last mPh meet (when i got the past and latest issues for free) at grrenbelt that i decided to buy your mag every time it goes out, but to my surprise,..it’s not a monthly thing…

Whats the release dates for your mag? Is it quarterly? Monthly?

Pls advice..

Tnx ad more power!

Mike: What’s the release dates for your mag?

Thanks Mike! Actually, yes we’re technically a monthly mag. But… things have been changing so drastically behind the scenes (the result of which you will uncover in this new issue… something which reader Miranoriel has already spotted!) that we just had to make this a two-month issue for now.

But don’t worry. We’re back to our regular programming. Monthly issues now coming your way! :)

Yay! I was right! Er, do I win anything? Haha! Maybe a date with Mobile Man? I promise my phone won’t be in discoverable mode. And I can bring my own straitjacket. And handcuffs… :D

[…] I set up Permalinks to include the date, and as soon as I did that I came across this article discouraging it. One of it’s arguments is that “It is redundant information as date is already part of the post information and need not be additionally within the url”, which is true if you actually go to the URL to begin with. The whole idea I thought was that if you send a link via email, or post it in a forum, for example, “http://blog.m-ph.com/11/14/2005/general/art-ilano/its-out/”, you’ll automatically see the date (along with the category, author and post title in this case), without having to click it, saving you time. At any rate, dealing with the .htaccess file is easy enough, so I’ll just fix that up if I change my mind. […]

I absolutely LOVE this ish!!! I think it’s probably the best ish you’ve publish this year so far… i’v enjoyed reading every single page of it! i usually buy your mag for n-gage game reviews, however i didn’t mind that this ish did not have one, i LOVE it anyway!!! the “my first…” article is really trivial (on how old you guys really are… lol). your short history of mph brought me bittersweet memories the reviewer mag (i used to collect it) and lastly a comment on the google tech talk… personally, i think that google is probably one of the reasons why i enjoy the net (so much)… it just made my (internet) life better.

Im interested to join the Geek Squad how to contact you guys? pls put all your contact info.
