How to activate SMART 3G


Hello Dumbo! If you have a 3G capable phone and are subscribed to SMART, here’s a step by step on how to activate this wonderful piece of technology:

Nokia 6630 and Nokia 6680
1. Main Menu - Tools - Settings - Network
2. Select Network Mode - Dual Mode - Press OK / Select Operator Selection and choose SMART 3G under Manual

Nokia N70 models and up
1. Main Menu - Tools - Settings - Network
2. Select Network Mode - UMTS - Press OK / Select Operator Selection and choose SMART 3G under Manual

* Nokia handsets will have a “3G” beneath the signal bar

Sony Ericsson
1. Main Menu - Settings - Connectivity
2. Mobile networks - Select Networks - Choose SMART with bubble - OK

* SE phones will have a small house with a purple icon beneath signal bar to semble 3G

hi.. im using SMART’s 3G service here on fairview. Luckily, we are still covered by 3G’s hotspot. So, anybody who has a dualcam, try to call me via video call if you want to try the service. here is my number. 09195206494. thanks!

my phone is n70. i was wondering why it doesnt have UMTS as an option under Network Mode? so i cant activate my 3g feature… need help on this..thanks

hi.. my dad has an n70 phone.. we r having trouble coz there is no such thing as UMTS under network mode.. (sam as eric’s prob)

just one question though, how can i use my laptop (or desktop) to take advantage of 3G’s broadband-grade internet service? let’s help each other now before the free trial will be gone.

Im using an N90, and stayin’ here in baguio but the signal stays only up to two bars at times and none the most.. anyway still wana try it hehe juz for the excitement call me 09209626080 Guy 23M here..

looking at your comments about not having umts on your nokia n70 if you select dual mode ..that will switch between gsm and umts ..which all depends if your in the 3g area

How can i use the video streaming, high speed Internet browsing using smart 3g.. i can already use viedo call but i dont know how can i use the internet.. i already installed the modem but it says that it cant connect or something same to that idea… pls email me the settings for se k608i… thanks in advance.. and if you want to try video call just call me at 09217300730…

Hi, please help me also. I am using Samsung u700. I can view clips from Abs-CBN, but cannot view the live shows. Everytime I try to view it, it gives me “connecting failed”. Because of this, I am left with just viewing the older episodes… Please help.

3g, is activated once your gprs is activated. just go to smart to have your gprs activated , its free.

I think you should get in touch with Smart directly through their customer service numbers so that you can get a prompt and direct reply from them. I don’t think that if ever they do get to read your comment that they will call or sms you their answer to your question.

To activate data access on any mobile with Smart you have to activate the service on your SIM as well as get the correct access settings (APN’s) on your phone. To do this send SET to 211 (if you send help you will get the correct format based on your mobile back - e.g. for a nokia n70 send SET N70 to 211; for a sony erikkson WE850i send SET SEW850i. You should get a message telling you the service is active and then a configuration message with your APN settings that you have to save (the password is 1234). To access 3g (sometimes called UMTS) you need to change the network settings in your phone as described by others above). Dual mode simply means the phone chooses the mode based on what service is available.
