Will Philippine Idol clog the mobile networks?

OMG! Philippine Idol is right around the corner. Since we live in the land of “star in every barangay,” each candidate is sure to have a procession of text votes from their super extended family, friends, and barangay.

So here’s the big question now — will Philippine Idol clog the mobile networks? Wait! Before you answer, read this article, that investigates how Cingular had partnered with American Idol - therefore creating a bias in geographic location when it comes to text votes.

How hard will it be penetrating the Philippine Idol vote center with SUN? What about Globe? Err … SMART?

Malaki yung kutob ko that its going to be Smart + PLDT voting.

Yeah, even if Globe has arguably more coverage than Smart, a Smart+PLDT combo will be more ubiquituous. I can even imagine PLDT charging 5 bucks or more a vote!

My crystallized balls say that the “text” voting will be the deciding factor because those that will vote through the landline will be insignificant… UNLESS pinoys starts using those automated “diallers” to cast hundreds of votes automagically.
