Free MotoJeep Rides and the C168 phone

motojeep.JPG

Motorola has recently launched their “pang-masa” mobile phone campaign with the MotoJeep fleet being deployed around Metro Manila. The Motorola brand name has been associated with expensive phones such as the RAZR and the Ming.

With the launch of the new entry level phones, and we do mean entry level folks, Motorola aims to grab a chunk of the mass market with cheap phones such as the Motorola C168, which retails for about P1,600.00 only!

Here’s how it works - every Monday, Motorola phone owners can flag down the MotoJeep and ride all you want free of charge. Of course, you could stay inside the ornate yellow jeep the whole day listening to the Hello Moto! theme song by the Itchyworms. (It’s catchy!)

I like this campaign; it uses a national symbol to make a low-end phone relevant to its target market.

Would you know which routes they ply? :-)

erratum: Moto C168 retails for P5.3++k with one year warranty price from MemoExpress

hi scout,

no this is true. it retails for P1,650.00 with partner telcos with sim card.

Hmm, i’ve seen the jeeps/terminal at the ayala terminal on the corner of pasay road and makati ave.

All those blaring Itchyworms tunes is enough to make you look.

Not to mention that huge cellphones on their roof.

Hi Jayvee! Can you tell me where can I buy the Motorola C168 for 1650 pesos only? I inquired at MemoExpress and they told me it costs P4000++. Hope you could provide me the info on this coz I will buy 5 pieces if this is true. Thanks!

paolo,

i must elaborate that these phones are available WITH partner telcos. that is why they are at a big discounted rate. it will be expensive if you buy the unit alone.

hellomoto…. i just wanna ask where can i buy c168…please tell me, b’coz i have no cellphone…. in this i can have one na… pls help…….

hi joi,

check out my last reply above. ;)

@jayvee
what is their partner telco?is it available only on plan basis thats why the price is low?or you can buy it as prepaid with these telco?how much?

it should be available with globe and smart. not sure about sun. and it should be also available on prepaid. it makes no sense if they only offered it for postpaid.

im quite surprised that the announcements have to come from moto itself, and not the telcos, unless they are under some rule not to favor any one manufacturer.

globe and smart doesn’t have it on their websites…

if anyone already purchased a prepaid phone kit of c168, please tell us where you bought it, thanks:D

Hi Guys! I bought my c168 last june 2006, it cost me 3,990 at memoexpress.
Slim, stylish but I’m quite upset about its slow reaction. Sometimes it even hangs up on me. Its really hard to believe that you can buy this for P1,650.00 at globe and smart. To sum things up, nice phone for its range.. thats why im replacing it.. maybe a SE K310i or ASUS V66.. anyway is ASUS V66 still available in the market today? please help me… tnx =P
