First, it was our mobile phones. Now, the latest mobile device to get the TV treatment is the Sony PSP. Engadget has a hands-on on this latest development. Using the 1-SEG digital TV tuner add-on accessory, the PSP is transformed from being an ordinary gaming console to a mobile entertainment console. The PSP already boasts of a number of multimedia functionality and adding TV functionality is just icing on the cake. Since the TV signals are in digital format, you’re sure to have clear and crisp images similar or even better than cable television. The TV tuner receives 1-SEG digital signals which is, unfortunately, only commercially available in Japan. So don’t go looking to make this work in the Philippines as the Mobile TV service here runs on DVB-H, a standard totally different from 1-SEG. But who knows, maybe some scheming media company is already thinking of importing the technology to our countryâ€

Not at the moment, though there is some news that ABS-CBN is going digital and it’s rumored that it’s going to be standard definition TV broadcast in a digital singal, which basically means that it would be compatible with the 1-SEG PSP TV tuner. Unless broadcasts are made through a compatible format, you won’t be able to receive content on device similar to how DVB-H phones won’t receive analog signals from local channels.

pag gumawa kau nang one seg dapat ung pwede sa psp fat at sa psp slim para wala clang masabi at kahit fat or slim psp nila makakabili sila nun kc kung slim lang pano naman ung may mga psp fat ndi cla makakabili ndiba kaya dapat pag gumawa kau ung pwede sa psp fat at psp slim un lang po ty

I doubt if it will official be released in the Philippines anytime soon as it would be useless in our country as no one is offering 1-SEG digital TV broadcast services yet.

If the service becomes available, then maybe we can see this product soon in the local market.

Bah. I’m saddened by the number of morons thinking that that 1-Seg TV tuner for the PSP will work here. It’s either they’re didn’t read the damn article or they’re just too stupid to read.

Sa mga tao dyan na hingi marunong mag-English, ang sinasabi ng article na to na yung 1-Seg tuner ay HINDI gagana dito dahil walang ganyang broadcast medium dito.

Sometimse, I just feel that the media should end up writing in a simpler manner for the majority of the population. Maybe it’s a matter of reaching more and making them understand. But then again, most of the guys in the media are obviously schooled and they might be too wary of their pride to output something much less than what they’re capable of.

1-SEG digital TV tuner nice.. but not working in phil omg….. when to released in phil and i wish that device is working here in phil if released this device
